Chapter 210: Prepare the Private Jet, to Nordmark
You called me just for this?
Is that really the only reason you called?
’Does this matter so little to her?!’
’Does she even care about me at all?!’
Leona Grant’s expression was thunderous. He sneered, "What else?"
"If that’s all, I’m hanging up. Don’t call me in the future if it’s not important. In fact, don’t call me even if it is," Annabelle Linton said, not wanting to hear another word as she prepared to end the call.
As soon as Leona Grant heard that, he knew what she was about to do. "Just you try hanging up!"
"Leona Grant, are you done messing around in the middle of the night? If you have something to say, can you please just say it all at once?"
Only then did Leona Grant remember the seven-hour time difference between Nordmark and Celestia. It was the dead of night where Annabelle Linton was.
Leona Grant felt a pang of awkwardness, but he didn’t let it show. "Come back. Come back tomorrow, you hear me?"
"The hell I will! Are you out of your mind?!"
Annabelle Linton was speechless. Calling her in the middle of the night over such nonsense... Did he think she was his employee?
’He expects me to come running just because he calls?’
’If the director hadn’t been on the verge of tears earlier, I wouldn’t have answered this bastard’s call for anything in the world!’
"Annabelle Linton, do you know who you’re talking to? You’re leaving for three months, and you didn’t even discuss it with me? Do you still see me as your husband?!"
This time, Annabelle Linton was truly enraged. She took a deep breath and sat bolt upright in bed. "Did you get hit in the head by Halley’s Comet? Are you that bored? Who do you think you are? Since when do I need to consult you about my business trips?
"And another thing, this trip isn’t for three months, it’s for a year and a half. A year and a half, okay? The thought of not having to see your face for 365 days—over 8,700 hours—makes me want to wake up laughing from my dreams. So remember, don’t call me again. Got it?!"
"shit!"
With that, Annabelle Linton furiously hung up.
Leona Grant stared at the ended call, then furiously smashed his phone.
’This woman... This woman is doing this just to piss me off!’
’It’s just like they say: give her an inch, and she’ll take a mile!’
’Annabelle Linton, you just wait. Even if you run to the ends of the earth, I’ll drag you back!’
For now, that was just something Leona Grant thought in the heat of the moment.
He never would have imagined that for so many days to come, he would be constantly proving those very words.
Leona Grant shot to his feet, pulled out another phone, and called Chase. "Get the private jet ready. We’re going to Nordmark!"
"Yes, sir!"
Watching Leona Grant’s retreating figure, the light in Ashley Grant’s eyes slowly dimmed...
’Sister-in-law is going to Nordmark on a business trip for over three months... Does that mean I can still see Ryan Linton during these next three months?’
’Ever since he gave her his card that day, she’d known.’
’It turned out... the boy she’d had a crush on for so many years was her sister-in-law’s younger brother...’
’But with my brother and sister-in-law fighting like this, and with her hating him so much... could anything ever happen between me and Ryan Linton?’
’Would Ryan Linton ever accept me?’
’Ashley, what on earth are you going to do...?’
’If... if she had known her first love would be this painful, she never would have let herself fall for someone in the first place.’
’But... when it comes to falling for someone, it’s not something you can control, is it...?’
...
Ashley Grant tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep. As a result, she slept through all of her classes the next day.
"RRRRING—"
The class bell rang. It was time for class with their math teacher, who was also their homeroom adviser—a real tyrant. All the students sat bolt upright, on their best behavior. Only Ashley Grant remained slumped over her desk with her headphones on.
"Ashley Grant, explain yourself!" The homeroom adviser strode to Ashley’s desk at the very back of the room and furiously threw a blank test paper at her face. "A blank paper! A zero! You’ve only just transferred here, and you already have the audacity to be so brazen? Hmm? Tell me, what exactly were you doing during the exam?!"
