Chapter 43. Lorelia: Not the Time, Felix!
I’m hiding behind the tree. My heart is racing. Is it an assassin or something? It must be. I really can't figure out another reason for Felix to act like this. Is he going to be okay? I mean he should be. He has never died in any assassination attempts. But is he going to get hurt? I’m not sure how much my presence here at the Palace changes the future. If I wasn't here. Felix wouldn't be here at the garden in the first place.
A loud painful scream fills the air. I can't help but move so I can peek at what is happening. I see the intruder violently swinging his sword at Felix. I start to panic even more because I spot that Felix is bleeding from his hand. He doesn't even have a sword, so why would he even try to fight? I don't know what I should do. Should I fetch help?
Then suddenly the intruder stops moving. He looks pleased and just stares at the ground. He just ignores Felix who is standing right in front of him. I don't understand what’s happening. Felix pulls out a knife, but the assassin doesn't react to that either.
Oh, Felix must use his illusion magic. That would explain this. I guess his illusion magic is pretty useful in these kinds of situations. And it’s probably the reason why his assasination attempts never succeed. I watch as Felix plummets the knife to the man’s chest and he slowly slumbs on the ground.
Is it over?
I rush over Felix when he is crouching next to the lifeless body. I’m worried about his wound.
‘’Felix? Are you okay?’’
He lifts his gaze to look at me and he is wearing weird expression. Something I can’t identify. He doesn’t answer, he only closes his eyes and furrows his brows. Is he in pain? My worry increases and I cup his cheeks. I need to know what’s wrong with him.
‘’Felix? Please say you are okay.’’
His eyes snap open and in a second his hand is on my throat, shoving me to the ground. He climbs on top of me, his gaze has shifted. The look on his face makes the blood within me run faster.
‘’I told you not to move, no matter what.’’ His voice is dark and serious.
‘’I’m sorry. I was just worried.’’
‘’I was not only trying to protect you from him. I tried to protect you from me.’’
I just stare at him in shock. My body instantly feels so hot. And I already feel the heat rushing between my legs.
Oh God. I’m so messed up. When he pinned me on the ground in front of the flowers. I of course reacted to that too. But this? This makes my body scream with need. I feel the blood from his hand starting to slide against my neck.
The wound! I almost forgot.
‘’Felix. You are injured. You need to get treated.’’
‘’What I need is you.’’
I clench my thighs together.
No. Now is not the time to surrender to him. He is injured.
‘’Felix. Listen to me. Your hand is bleeding. There is a dead body next to us. You don’t know if there is more coming. We can’t do this. Not now.’’
Something shifts in his gaze. He closes his eyes again, looking like he is trying to focus. Is this what he meant by his illusion mana affecting him? Is he trying to fight against it? I want to help him, but I don’t know how. That one time he made it rain to cool himself off. But I can’t make it rain. Only he can.
‘’Felix. Make it rain again.’’ I try, but I only feel his fingers tightening against my throat.
‘’Felix! Look at me!’’ I yell and his eyes snap open.
‘’Rain. Now!’’
And in an instant it starts to pour and we are soaked in seconds. I feel his grip loosen and his eyes slowly get some light in them. I feel a wave of relief, but at the same time my body aches for the loss of something that could have happened.
He leans in and presses his lips against mine. And I let him. His kisses really is so addictive. I had no idea kissing would be something that I would ache so badly. The kiss deepens and I push him slightly, so our lips part.
‘’You are bleeding. We need to go to get you treated.’’
‘’It’s only a minor wound, nothing to worry about.’’
‘’It is still a wound! And I do worry about it!’’
He smiles at me gently.
‘’Thanks Lo.’’
‘’For what?’’
‘’For stopping me. Taking your virginity next to a corpse really wasn’t on my to do list.’’
I still. Was he really planning to… I feel my pussy reacting to that thought. And reacting to that is so utterly wrong.
He looks at me with suspicion.
‘’Hold on. Are you getting aroused by that idea?’’
‘’NO!’’ I yell. ‘’Just move so I can get up.”
He does while chuckling at me and he stops the rain.
‘’I guess it’s true what they say.’’
‘’What you mean?’’ I ask.
‘’That the quietest ones are the dirtiest.’’ He says teasingly.
He stands up and offers me his hand and I take it.
‘’I’m not dirty.’’
‘’Sure sure. Whatever you say.’’
‘’Jerk.’’ I whisper and my breath.
He grabs my arm and starts to pull me.
‘’Curse me all you want, it doesn’t change the fact. But now we have some things to handle.’’
‘’What you are going to do?’’
‘’First I need to contact Theodore.’’
“Theodore?”
‘’I mean Master Loneflare, the Master of the Mage Tower.”
‘’Why?’’
‘’I need him to inspect the barrier around the Palace, to make sure it’s still intact. I want to know how he got in.’’
‘’What barrier?’’
‘’There is a secret barrier surrounding the Palace, which alerts if anyone goes through it. Making it impossible for anyone to sneak in. The gate is the only spot where there is no barrier.’’
I had no idea that there were something like that.
‘’And I need Theodore to calm my mana. It really is getting out of control.’’
‘’Master Loneflare can calm it?’’
‘’Yes. He has been helping me handle it ever since the illusion mana appeared.’’
Well that explains why they are sometimes seen together. I suddenly realize we are not walking toward my room.
‘’Your Highness. Where are we going?’’
He stills and turns to face me.
‘’Really Lo? You just called me Felix so many times. Do you really need to go back to call me that?’’ There is sadness in his voice.
I did? I guess I did. But that was only because I was in panic, not thinking straight. I just stare at him not sure what to say. Even his eyes looks so sad suddenly. It makes me feel like I’m the villain again. He let’s out a heavy sigh and starts walking again.
‘’I’m taking you to my room.’’
‘’What?! Why?’’
‘’It’s the safest place in the whole Palace. I’m not risking leaving you anywhere else until I’m sure there are no more bad guys left.’’
Soon we enter the Palace and I find myself inside Felix's room. It’s huge. More like a house. Which might be expected since he is the Crown Prince afterall.
“We need to take care of your hand first.”
He looks at his hand, like he totally forgot there is a wound on it.
“It’s alright, I don't want to see the physician just yet. No one knows I’m at the Palace. And I want to keep it a secret for a little while longer.”
“Is keeping your presence as a secret more important than your wound?”
“Absolutely.”
He is really an idiot sometimes. But his expression tells me that he is not going to change his mind about it.
“Do you at least have a first aid kit here?”
He narrows his eyes at me.
“I do. Why? Want to be my sexy nurse?” He smirks.
“Just a regular one will do. I know how to treat wounds, so please give me the first aid kid.”
His face brightens and he disappears behind the door and soon comes with a box in his hand.
“Oh if I would know that my pretty flower is so eager to patch me up. I would have taken a couple of more hits from him.”
I take the box from him and go sit on the couch and he follows.
“Don't joke about getting hurt. It’s not funny.”
“Sorry. I’m just too excited that you are willing to touch me voluntarily.”
I take out the disinfectant, grab his hand and start to clean it. I don't answer him. Since once again, I don't know what to say.
“So where did you learn to treat wounds?”
Crap. I can't exactly tell him that it was after he blew up the Palace and the country went to a civil war. There were so many casualties everywhere so the hospitals couldn't treat everyone. So we welcomed the injured people to temples and tried our best to treat them. Over time I learned to do that better and better. But I have to give him some reason.
“While doing voluntary work.”
“Okay, don't tell me then.”
Another crap. I forgot he is able to probe my mind.
“Don't intrude in my mind. Do something else for once.”
He chuckles.
“Sure.”
He grabs a communication stone out of his pocket and it doesn't take long for it to start glowing and a very blunt voice comes from it.
“What do you want?”
“To hear your lovely voice, obviously.” Felix says with a smile on his face.
“I’m not in the mood of your annoyance Felix.”
“Woah, ease on the excited tone.” Felix chuckles.
“Felix.” The voice from the stone drops lower. Saying his name like a warning.
“Alright, alright. I need you here.”
“Why?”
“I'll tell you when you get here.”
“Tell me now.”
“I need you to come check your barrier.”
“Why?”
“There was an assassination attempt.”
An annoyed sigh comes through the stone. “Fine.”
“Perfect! Oh and come straight to my room. I lowered my own barrier.”
The stone just grows dark after that.
I'm a little confused about what just happened. About how they talked to each other. And that person called Felix by his name. Felix said that there is only one person who calls him that. So it wasn't his father? I shake the thoughts and focus back on the wound.
“It’s going to need stitchies.” I say.
“And you know how to do that too?”
I nod as I take more equipment from the box. Gladly there are anesthetics. I start spread that first.
“My pretty flower surely is a talented one.”
“Who did you call?” I ask.
“Theodore.”
“That was Master Loneflare? But I thought he was—”
“Friendly and kind?” He interrupts me.
I nod.
“It’s only his public image. His real personality is quite the opposite.”
Well that is just weird. I start doing the stitchies, but soon a magic circle appears and Master Loneflare stands in the room.
I have never seen him. Only pictures of him in the magazines.
He is huge. He looks terrifying. He looks so annoyed that it makes me want to crawl to hide.
