My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 504: Extra: Luna Jennings x Benjamin Morgan (8)

’I’m screwed. He’s definitely mad.’

Luna Jennings hung up the phone and walked back, annoyed with herself.

She immediately sent a message to Beta Morgan.

[Luna Jennings: Mr. Beta, SOS!!!]

[Beta: What’s wrong? Is there trouble at home?]

[Luna Jennings: I pissed someone off.]

[Beta: Don’t worry. Send me their info, and I’ll take care of it for you.]

[Luna Jennings: I pissed off Benjamin Morgan.]

[Beta: ...]

[Beta: In that case, you’re going to die a horrible death.]

[Luna Jennings: Then what should I do? I didn’t mean to. Do you know what he likes? I want to go apologize to him.]

[Beta: I think he likes mystery stuff. He’s always watching mystery dramas in his free time.]

[Luna Jennings: You’re the best, Mr. Beta! I’ll treat you to a meal when I get back.]

...

Luna Jennings cheerfully turned off her phone and even started humming a tune.

Meanwhile, Beta Morgan put down his phone and, feeling uneasy, called Benjamin Morgan.

"Pip, Luna Jennings is Aurora’s best friend, after all. Cut her some slack. Don’t actually give the poor girl a hard time..."

Benjamin Morgan raised an eyebrow. "She told you?"

"Yeah, the young lady even asked me what you like, saying she wants to buy something for you to apologize."

Benjamin Morgan paused, asking with amusement, "And you know what I like?"

"Isn’t it just those mystery books?"

"Oh, is that so..." Benjamin Morgan pushed up his glasses, the corners of his mouth curving into a smile.

He only read mystery books to practice his logical skills, not because he actually enjoyed them.

’That silly girl is probably going to buy out the entire bookstore.’

「The next day.」

Benjamin Morgan sat in his boss’s office, leisurely drinking tea and reading a book, while waiting for that silly girl to arrive.

He waited all morning but didn’t see a trace of her.

’Didn’t she say she was going to apologize? Where is she?’

Benjamin Morgan glanced at the date on his watch. Seeing it was still the holiday period, he continued to wait.

As noon approached, Luna Jennings still hadn’t arrived.

’She didn’t go to the Morgan Residence, did she?’

At this thought, Benjamin Morgan stood up and strode outside.

Just as he walked out of the lab building, he heard two familiar voices.

"Fatty, thanks..."

"Don’t mention it! Next time you need to buy mystery books, just ask me to tag along. I love reading mysteries."

Jenson Lawson smiled as he lifted a cardboard box full of books from the trunk.

Luna Jennings’s face lit up. She raised a hand to pat his shoulder. "Really? Why didn’t you say so sooner? Quick, help me check if these books will do."

Jenson Lawson placed the box on the trunk and began looking at the book covers one by one, picking and choosing.

"This one’s logic isn’t very tight; I wouldn’t really recommend it. This one is okay..."

Watching the two of them laughing and chatting, Benjamin Morgan’s expression gradually darkened. He turned and walked away.

When Luna Jennings arrived at the innermost office on the top floor, she knocked for a long time, but no one opened the door.

’That’s weird. Mr. Beta said he’d be in today. Did he go off to do an experiment again?’

Luna Jennings sent a message to Beta Morgan.

A moment later, Beta Morgan called her back. "I couldn’t get in touch with Pip. He probably went into the lab. You can put the books in the other innermost office, the one with ’Chester Greene’ on it. His student is in there working on a report..."

"Okay, thanks, Mr. Beta."

Luna Jennings’s expression fell. She looked at the heavy box, wondering if she should wait a while longer.

’An apology should be sincere, after all.’

When Benjamin Morgan returned from the cafeteria in an awful mood, having also taken a walk around the track to aid his digestion, he froze.

There, by the door, the familiar figure was sitting on the cardboard box, head in her hands, fast asleep.

’What a fool...’

The thin line of Benjamin Morgan’s lips curved slightly upward. He walked over slowly and swiped his card.

"BEEP—"

The door opened.

The sound startled Luna Jennings awake. She rubbed her eyes and looked up, and her sleepy eyes instantly brightened.

"Morgan... you’re back."

"What are you doing here?" Benjamin Morgan asked, feigning ignorance as he looked at the red mark on her face.

"I came to bring you these books as an apology."

Luna Jennings looked at the cardboard box on the floor and nervously bent down, but Benjamin Morgan grabbed her by the shoulder with one hand.

"Don’t bend over when you’re wearing an outfit like that."

The tips of his ears were a little red as he bent down, picked up the box, and strode into the office.

It was the middle of summer, and Luna Jennings was dressed for the heat.

A loose-fitting dolman top paired with denim shorts made her legs look long and straight.

With a smile on her face, Luna Jennings walked naturally over to the sofa and enthusiastically started telling him about the books in the box.

Her descriptions were more or less what Jenson Lawson had told her.

"Morgan, I heard you really like mysteries, so these are all newly released mystery books..."

"Who told you I like mysteries?" Benjamin Morgan asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

He was already very tall, and Luna Jennings only came up to his chest.

Luna Jennings swallowed nervously. "It was... Mr. Beta... who told me."

"You two are close?" Benjamin Morgan’s gaze carried a hint of pressure.

Luna Jennings involuntarily took a small step back and stammered, "He’s a nice person, and he looks out for me..."

Seeing her cheeks begin to flush, Benjamin Morgan let out a soft chuckle and turned to walk toward the water cooler.

"I’m his younger brother. You can call me Mr. C."
