My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 501: Extra - Luna Jennings x Benjamin Morgan (5)

「The next day at noon.」

Luna Jennings ran over to find Aurora Sinclair, her bag slung over her shoulder.

She pointed at the message on her screen—[You are no longer friends with this person]—and complained, "All I did was see his shirtless torso! Does he have to be so petty?"

"You like him?" Aurora Sinclair asked in surprise.

Luna Jennings grabbed her hand and pressed it to her own chest. Tilting her head back with a look of pure bliss, she asked, "Do you feel it?"

"What?"

"My heart, pounding powerfully and picking up speed."

Aurora Sinclair blinked a couple of times. "No."

Luna Jennings’s smile vanished, replaced with feigned anger. "You can’t even feel my blood boiling?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head.

Luna Jennings flicked her on the forehead and sighed. "Sigh... You’re so hopelessly straight..."

She then pointed to the small cake she had brought, clasped her hands together, and begged, "This is an apology gift for Morgan. Can you please give it to him for me?"

Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment. "He doesn’t eat sweets."

"Huh? Why didn’t you say so sooner? I spent all morning baking it." Luna Jennings flopped onto the table, looking completely dejected.

"I’ve seen him buying savory sesame pancakes from Cafeteria Number One a lot."

"I’ll go right now..." Luna Jennings shot up from her seat. But after taking just two steps, she doubled back and said pitifully, "I don’t know where Cafeteria Number One is. Aurora, will you come with me...?"

When Benjamin Morgan came out of the lab and returned to Alvin Morgan’s office, he found a bag of savory sesame pancakes and a cup of milk tea on his desk.

"Did you buy out all the pancakes from Cafeteria Number One?"

Benjamin Morgan glanced at Beta Morgan, who was playing a video game, then washed his hands and picked up a pancake to eat.

"I didn’t buy them. Aurora brought them over."

Benjamin Morgan took a bite. They were crispy yet soft—freshly made.

He asked, amused, "Has she decided to go vegetarian?"

"Luna Jennings bought them specially for you."

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."

Benjamin Morgan choked. He grabbed the milk tea next to him and took several large gulps.

Beta Morgan took a moment to look up from his game and said mournfully, "How come no girls ever bring me anything?"

For the next few days, Aurora Sinclair came to the office every day at noon with a bag of savory sesame pancakes.

"Luna Jennings wants everyone to have some."

Benjamin Morgan’s face darkened.

Suppressing the discomfort in his throat, he swiped his phone open, moved the person from his blocklist back to his contacts, and sent her a message.

[Benjamin: What are you trying to do? Give us all pancake poisoning?]

She replied almost immediately.

[Luna Jennings: Sorry, Morgan. What else do you like to eat?]

Benjamin Morgan rolled his eyes wearily and sent her a 500-yuan transfer.

[Benjamin: Stop buying them. This is for the pancakes.]

[Luna Jennings: So you’re not mad at me anymore? Don’t worry, I’ll never share that picture of you fresh out of the shower...]

Benjamin Morgan was speechless. He glanced at Aurora Sinclair and thought, ’They’re good friends, alright. Both of them are just as thick-skinned.’

[Benjamin: I don’t know you that well. Please stop sending me things.]

This time, she didn’t reply.

Benjamin Morgan put down his phone. He glanced at the disastrous pile of pancakes on the desk and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

On the other end, Luna Jennings stared at the message on her phone, her vision blurring.

The tip of her nose tingled, and she almost burst into tears.

She typed out a few words on her phone and sent them.

[Luna Jennings: I’m sorry for bothering you.]

Benjamin Morgan saw the message and was somewhat satisfied that she’d finally gotten the hint.

Just then, Alvin Morgan suddenly looked up from his screen and said coolly, "Benjamin, you’ll go to the Quincy Family’s banquet in the next day or two."

Benjamin Morgan’s heart tightened. "Sir, isn’t Mr. Beta supposed to go?"

"He has other business. You’re going."

"Yes, sir."

***

Benjamin Morgan felt like he’d been attending a lot of banquets lately. Usually, that was Mr. Beta’s job.

He really disliked mingling with the daughters of the Great Families. The smell of their perfume was enough to give him a headache.

"Sir, that recent project is quite urgent. I..."

"I’m keeping an eye on the project."

"Mr. Beta has also been..."

"He has other business."

"..."

Benjamin Morgan was out of arguments.

’He had a feeling his boss was plotting against him, but he had no proof.’

Then one day, as he dragged his exhausted body home from yet another banquet, he happened to see Beta Morgan packing a suitcase, looking like he was about to go on a long trip.

"Did the boss send you on a mission?" Benjamin Morgan asked, surprised. ’Given Mr. Beta’s personality, the boss rarely let him leave the capital.’

’Why is he so confident in him this time?’

"The boss is taking Aurora and the others to the beach and told me to tag along."

Benjamin Morgan immediately felt a pang in his chest.

The boss had never asked him to go on a pleasant, relaxing trip like this.

’Fortune really does favor the foolish.’

"Oh, right, Pip," Beta said. "The boss mentioned that the madam has a few gatherings with her friends, and he wants you to attend in his place."

Benjamin Morgan: ...

’The boss is definitely doing this on purpose!!!’
