Chapter 488: Extra - Leigh Miles x Dean Morgan (2)
Two hours later, a rather unappealing-looking panna cotta was taken out of the refrigerator.
Leigh Miles couldn’t wait to scoop some into her mouth.
Not even two seconds later, she spat it out, her little face scrunching up like a bun as she scrambled to find water. "COUGH COUGH... You added too much starch..."
Dean Morgan tried a bite, then immediately picked up the whole bowl, ready to throw it away.
"Don’t throw it out! It’s a shame to waste food."
Leigh Miles stopped him from taking the panna cotta and scooped up another spoonful to eat.
Dean Morgan was a little unhappy. He snatched the bowl back and ate the whole thing. "I’ll make you another one."
After making five or six bowls, he finally managed to replicate the taste of Aurora Sinclair’s.
"Mr. Dixon, you’re amazing." Leigh Miles’s face was all smiles as she ate the panna cotta, her eyes curving into crescents.
Dean Morgan’s ears turned a little red.
Spurred on by his success with the panna cotta, Dean Morgan fell in love with cooking and would often make desserts for Leigh Miles in his free time.
By the time Aurora Sinclair returned, Leigh Miles had a cavity.
Aurora Sinclair had to take her to get the tooth filled. Leigh Miles clutched her aching cheek and said miserably to Dean Morgan, "Mr. Dixon, the dentist won’t let me eat dessert anymore."
Dean Morgan felt very guilty. From then on, he had one more task: watch over Leigh Miles’s health.
After Aurora Sinclair and Alvin Morgan left again, he became Leigh Miles’s dedicated guardian.
"Leigh Miles, brush your teeth."
"Leigh Miles, drink your milk."
"Leigh Miles, get up and eat breakfast."
...
Dean Morgan’s voice could often be heard echoing through the Morgan Residence.
It got to the point where Reed Morgan and the others started teasing him. "Dixon, are you raising a daughter? Or are you grooming a child bride?"
Dean Morgan was not good with words and didn’t know how to retort, so he just let them tease him.
One time, Leigh Miles happened to overhear them.
She got angry on the spot, glaring furiously at Reed Morgan. "I challenge you. Do you dare fight me?"
Reed Morgan was naturally happy to oblige. This was a rare opportunity to spar with a Sunstone Native.
The two of them were just about to head to the training room.
Dean Morgan stopped Leigh Miles and said to Reed Morgan, "I’ll fight you."
"Ah... Dixon, why would a Martial Arts Master like you bully us Great Martial Masters?"
Dean Morgan pulled Leigh Miles close, his face grim. "Leigh Miles is a girl, and she’s not even an adult. How can you have the nerve to bully her?"
"Wha—What are you talking about... We were just going to spar."
"Perfect. My hands are itching for a fight. Let’s spar."
Then, Dean Morgan proceeded to thrash Reed Morgan and all the others, saying with a deadpan expression, "Extra training every day from now on."
Reed Morgan: ...
From then on, no one in the Morgan Residence dared to make such jokes again.
***
Dean Morgan was with Leigh Miles for virtually her entire time in middle and high school, including the phase where boys started chasing after her.
Ever since Leigh Miles started high school, she shot up like a spring onion, changing day by day. Her baby fat melted away, revealing a delicate, oval face.
Dean Morgan was with her every day, so he didn’t really notice the change until one day after school, he saw a boy at the gate stop her to give her something.
From the packaging, it looked a lot like chocolate.
Dean Morgan’s heart instantly tightened. After Leigh Miles got in the car, he looked directly at the gift box in her hands.
Leigh Miles seemed very troubled, frowning as she said, "Mr. Dixon, what do boys like?"
"You’re going to give him something?" Dean Morgan’s voice was a little cold.
"Yeah. Master said it’s proper to return a gift for a gift. If someone gives me something, I have to give something back. This is going to be another considerable expense."
Leigh Miles looked at the label on the chocolate, extremely vexed.
Hearing her say that, Dean Morgan felt half of his anxiety disappear.
His tone softened a little. "Why did he give you a gift?"
"He said he wanted to be friends and asked me to a movie on Saturday. But I already promised Jean I’d go see her school’s arts festival on Saturday..."
Dean Morgan reached out and patted her head. His usually wooden face was full of reassurance. "It’s okay. I’ll go to the movies with him for you on Saturday."
"You can do that?" Leigh Miles’s eyes widened.
"Yes."
A dark glint appeared in Dean Morgan’s eyes.
