Chapter 486: Extra - Aurora Sinclair x Alvin Morgan (Part 3)
[Family Anecdotes]
Ever since Aurora Sinclair’s eldest son learned to talk, everyone in the family loved to get him talking.
But who knows if the boy inherited his brain from Alvin Morgan, because his favorite thing to do was ask "why."
Why has Mommy’s tummy gotten big again?
Why can’t Mommy hold me anymore?
Why does Mommy throw up?
Aurora Sinclair never expected to get pregnant again, three years after her son was born.
And so, her eldest son, who loved clinging to her more than anything, was exiled by his jealous father, Alvin Morgan, to a little bed in a room all by himself.
But even that couldn’t curb the little boy’s enthusiasm for his mom.
Whenever Alvin Morgan was away on business, the boy would grab his treasure box and come running to find Aurora Sinclair.
Aurora loved making toys for him, so almost everything in his treasure box was handmade by her.
That was why her eldest son was so attached to her.
"Mommy, when can my little brother come out and play with me?"
Her eldest son was sitting beside Aurora, studying a nine-linked-ring puzzle. His little mouth never stopped moving—one moment asking about his baby brother, the next about his dad. He was a regular little chatterbox.
"Three more months."
"Why can’t he come out now?"
Aurora thought for a moment. "He’s not ready yet..."
"But I’m all ready..."
Aurora reached out and stroked his head.
Her eldest son tilted his head away. "Mommy, don’t pat my head. Daddy says it’ll stop me from growing tall," he said, sounding like a little adult.
Aurora was a little exasperated. ’What in the world has Alvin, that jealous dad, been telling their son?’
"Mommy, why didn’t you have a baby sister for me?"
"It’s a matter of probability."
"What’s probability?"
"Probability is... a way to measure how likely it is for a random event to happen..."
"What’s a random event?"
"A random event is something that might happen or might not happen during a random experiment, but it follows a pattern if you do it many, many times..."
Seeing she had successfully confused her own son, Aurora stroked his head again. "When you get older, Daddy and your teachers will teach you."
"Aren’t you going to teach me, Mommy?"
Aurora’s hand froze for a second. Then she said, "Mommy isn’t as smart as Daddy..."
Her eldest son pouted at her words. "Mommy is smarter than Daddy."
"Why?"
"Mommy can make me toys. Daddy can’t."
"Daddy made you your Little Dummy."
Her eldest son thought for a moment, then said with a pout, "It’s too ugly."
Aurora was left speechless.
’This father and son were always finding fault with each other!’
***
Aurora’s delivery of her second son went very smoothly; he was born in under two hours.
The baby was perfectly healthy, unlike the harrowing birth of her first son, when the umbilical cord had nearly wrapped around his neck.
Her eldest son looked at the baby brother in his father’s arms and grumbled, "Why is he even uglier than Little Dummy?"
Alvin Morgan shot him a look. "You were even uglier when you were born."
Her eldest son immediately burst into tears. Fat drops rolled down his cheeks as he ran crying to Aurora, sobbing that Daddy had called him ugly.
Aurora stroked his head. "You’re not ugly."
As a result, Alvin Morgan was banished to the study for three months...
And her eldest son triumphantly took his place, sleeping by his mother’s side once more.
Alvin Morgan grabbed his eldest son and asked grimly, "Did you tell on me on purpose?"
His eldest son shook his head frantically.
"You little brat, don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to."
"You’re too bossy, Daddy. I want to hug Mommy too..."
Alvin Morgan pinched his eldest son’s cheek. "Remember, only Daddy can hug Mommy."
"Mommy said I can hug her too."
The next thing he knew, Alvin Morgan had scooped him up and unceremoniously dropped him off at preschool.
"WAAAH... Mommy..."
***
Alvin Morgan had always wanted a daughter, but after having two sons in a row, the Morgans couldn’t help but lament that their family just wasn’t destined to have girls.
Just as their second son was turning one, Aurora Sinclair surprisingly found herself pregnant again. This time, it was an accident.
Alvin hadn’t wanted Aurora to have any more children, but who would have guessed that their brand-new contraceptives had been poked full of holes.
After a long investigation, they discovered the culprit was their eldest son, who, in a fit of mischief, had treated them like balloons and poked them.
To hide his mistake, he’d even sealed the package back up with a sticker, so Alvin hadn’t noticed anything was amiss.
Alvin was so furious he almost raised his hand to the boy, but thankfully, Aurora stopped him.
In the end, Alvin banned his eldest son from their bedroom and put locks on all the cabinets inside.
It wasn’t until Aurora found out she was carrying a girl that Alvin finally stopped giving his eldest son the cold shoulder. He even made a special trip to take the boy to the science museum, where they spent the entire day.
Ever since she became pregnant with a daughter, Aurora received even more attention from the Morgan family than she had during her first pregnancy.
Not only did her mother-in-law, Yvonne Whitlock, meticulously care for her around the clock, but Grandma Susan Warner also made a special call to Ronan Warner, asking him to come to the Continent of Esteros to check Aurora’s pulse.
The little room that had originally been set up for their eldest son was heartlessly redecorated into a nursery for a girl by his father.
Her eldest son protested for a long time, but his father quashed all his objections.
The boy was so mad he almost packed up his treasure box and ran away to his grandpa’s house.
But once his little sister was born, all his earlier gloom vanished. He absolutely adored his new sister.
Once, Aurora asked him, "Sean, why do you like your sister so much?"
Her eldest son replied with a wide grin, "My sister is prettier than my brother."
