Chapter 485: Extra: Aurora Sinclair x Alvin Morgan (2)
[Pregnancy and Childbirth]
Ever since Aurora Sinclair started menstruating, she finally understood the monthly hardship of being a woman.
A High-Rank Martial Cultivator’s five senses were extremely developed. To hide her embarrassment, she would take time off whenever her period arrived, holing up in her lounge and refusing to be disturbed.
Her subordinates were all people who understood, so they generally avoided bothering her with official business during those days.
Alvin Morgan, for his part, would prepare in advance, getting all sorts of things to keep her warm, as well as brown sugar water.
One day—
Aurora Sinclair’s period was supposed to arrive, but unexpectedly, it was late.
This made her anxious. A Class-A suspect—reportedly a fugitive from the remnants of the Shadow Organization—was due to arrive at the International Penitentiary in a few days, and she had to handle the matter personally.
"Still nothing?" Alvin Morgan asked.
Hugging a pillow, Aurora Sinclair shook her head with a slight pout. But Alvin Morgan’s eyes lit up, and he suddenly broke into a mysterious smile.
About half an hour later, Alvin Morgan stood at the bathroom door and asked, "Is it two lines?"
Aurora Sinclair stared blankly at the pregnancy test in her hand. The two lines on it left her completely dumbfounded.
’I’m actually pregnant?’
It was very difficult for High-Rank Martial Cultivators to conceive. She never thought she would get pregnant after only five years...
"Morgan... I’m pregnant..."
***
Ever since Aurora Sinclair became pregnant, Alvin Morgan started treating her like a national treasure. He no longer let her worry about a single thing; her days were filled with gentle walks to nurture the growing baby.
He even had a private ship built for her, which he kept docked next to the Isle of Esteros, just to make it convenient for her to leave the island for prenatal checkups.
Furthermore, on the Continent of Esteros, the Morgan and Sinclair Families had jointly funded a private hospital. It was originally built for the convenience of both families, and now it was proving to be particularly useful.
Aurora Sinclair came here every month for her checkups, taking the opportunity to visit her family as well.
"Daughter, how has Alvin Morgan been taking care of you? Other women gain weight when they’re pregnant, so how have you gotten thinner?" Thomas Sinclair said, looking with dissatisfaction at his daughter’s still slender arms and legs. He shot a glare at Alvin Morgan as he entered the room.
Alvin Morgan felt helpless. Ever since Aurora became pregnant, he had been cooking all sorts of different dishes for her, but only her belly grew bigger; she didn’t put on weight anywhere else. He was starting to suspect she was secretly practicing her Martial Cultivation behind his back.
"Godfather, Aurora is perfectly healthy, so don’t you worry!" Leigh Miles said with a wide smile, handing Aurora a chicken leg.
Thomas Sinclair glanced at her and gruffly shoved a chicken leg toward her. "Just eat your food..."
Then, he turned to Alvin Morgan and said sternly, "Alvin Morgan, come with me to the study."
Under the sympathetic gazes of the Morgan brothers, Alvin Morgan was once again summoned to the study by his father-in-law for a lecture.
Leigh Miles glanced at Aurora and whispered, "Aurora, you haven’t been secretly practicing your Martial Cultivation again, have you?"
Aurora Sinclair froze for a moment, then gave her a pinch.
Leigh Miles sighed, rubbing her arm. "A little Martial Cultivation is fine," she whispered, "but don’t overdo it."
When the two of them returned to the Isle of Esteros, Aurora Sinclair noticed that Alvin Morgan’s menu for her had changed, as had the way he cared for her.
Whenever he had to leave for official business, the two robots, Ditto Miles and Ditto, would take his place at her side. They strictly followed a schedule, reminding Aurora Sinclair what to do, right down to when to drink water or have a snack.
Aurora Sinclair’s secret training was reduced to entering a meditative state in her room to sense the Power of Heaven and Earth.
As the months passed, Aurora Sinclair’s belly finally swelled into a perfect sphere.
As her due date approached, Aurora Sinclair checked into the private hospital.
One day—
As Aurora Sinclair was eating in her hospital bed, her expression suddenly changed. She leaped nimbly off the bed, her gaze fixed sharply on the world outside her window.
"Whoa, Aurora, slow down! What’s wrong?" Leigh Miles’s face went white with fright as she rushed to support her.
But Aurora Sinclair’s gaze was icy. "Someone’s here," she said gravely. "And they mean us harm."
"What? Morgan is still at the International Penitentiary..." Leigh Miles immediately contacted Dean Morgan.
Soon, a level-one alarm blared through the hospital, and all personnel inside armed themselves.
Meanwhile, the people hiding in the surrounding forest were startled.
"Boss, have the people in the hospital spotted us?"
"Then we storm it!"
With that, his Power erupted, and he charged toward the hospital.
When the Morgan family guards saw a group of assassins in black combat gear surrounding the hospital, their expressions turned grim, and they quickly drew their weapons to mount a defense.
When Alvin Morgan heard that assassins were after Aurora Sinclair, he was filled with an unspeakable rage. He grabbed several Basic Supervisors, boarded a boat, and sped toward the Continent of Esteros.
By now, the assassins surrounding the hospital were in a killing frenzy. Leigh Miles and Dean Morgan stood guard at the entrance, their expressions grave.
These assassins were exceptionally powerful. Two were Great Martial Kings, and the rest were at least at the rank of Grandmaster.
They were dressed like members of the Shadow Organization, shouting about avenging the Shadow Master, but Aurora Sinclair knew they were not part of The Shadow.
When Alvin Morgan and the Basic Supervisors arrived, they saw a heavily pregnant woman weaving through a crowd of assassins. Though she clearly had the upper hand, the sight made Alvin Morgan’s heart pound with terror.
She was due to give birth in a matter of days...
’These people deserve to die!!!’
The aura around Alvin Morgan shifted in an instant. "You want to die?" he roared. "I’ll be happy to oblige!"
With the intervention of the Basic Supervisors, the assassination attempt ultimately failed.
Aurora Sinclair was immediately rushed back to her room for an examination.
Beta Morgan found a token from the Winslow Clan on one of them.
Alvin Morgan glared at the captured assassins on the ground, his face brimming with murderous intent. "If anything is wrong with my wife or our child," he snarled, "every last one of you in the Winslow Clan will be buried alongside them!"
"You wouldn’t dare—"
A cold sneer played on Alvin Morgan’s lips. He spoke into his watch, "Ditto, activate [Destruction]. Coordinates: The Continent of Esteros, Mount Nine Peaks!"
"Affirmative, Master! [Destruction] program initiated. Countdown: 10... 9... 8..."
A gleaming arc of light shot up into the azure sky, streaking straight toward the Continent of Esteros...
"You’re a madman!"
The man on the ground’s eyes widened, his gaze filled with pure terror.
The man looking down on him wore the expression of the God of Death himself.
"5... 4... 3..."
"No—!"
Along with the desperate cry, a powerful wave of Strength shot out from the hospital and collided with the arc of light, causing Alvin Morgan’s expression to change drastically.
The arc of light veered from its intended trajectory, hurtling toward the north—
An earth-shattering explosion that seemed to tear through the clouds made everyone clap their hands over their ears and drop to the ground.
The whole world began to RUMBLE and shake, just like an earthquake.
The tremors lasted for more than two hours.
A giant mushroom cloud rose into the sky, shaking the entire Continent of Esteros.
The Basic Supervisors looked toward Mount Nine Peaks with lingering fear. ’Luckily, she altered its trajectory,’ one thought. ’Otherwise, Mount Nine Peaks would have been wiped off the Continent of Esteros.’
Alvin Morgan’s face was ashen as he sprinted back into the hospital, but the exertion had sent Aurora Sinclair into labor. Nurses were already wheeling her into the delivery room.
With the sound of a baby’s cry, the frantic aura around Alvin Morgan at last subsided.
Outside the hospital, the Basic Supervisors let out a collective sigh of relief. ’That man is far too dangerous!’
By her bedside—
Alvin Morgan held Aurora Sinclair’s hand, his heart aching for her, and asked angrily, "Why did you alter the trajectory?"
Aurora Sinclair’s eyes were filled with a gentle light. "Because you are one of the Morgans, and the reason you develop weapons is to protect your home and country... not to commit the original sin of starting a war."
