My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 274 - 266: She’s No Ordinary Person

The VIP lounge.

Alvin Morgan stared at the barrage of messages flooding his phone.

His brow was tightly furrowed.

Just as he was about to turn it off, another message popped up on the screen:

[Aurora needs to come back for her exams.]

Sender: Chester Greene

Alvin Morgan looked up at the girl sitting cross-legged not far away, deep in meditation.

He replied directly:

[She’s exempt from exams this semester.]

Unexpectedly, the person on the other end blew up, and a call came through immediately.

Alvin Morgan immediately rejected the call, but the other party was relentless.

"A call from Mr. Greene? He’s not hounding Aurora about her exams, is he?" Leigh Miles happened to be passing by and glanced over.

Alvin Morgan rejected the call again and simply turned off his phone.

A moment later, Leigh Miles’s phone rang.

A glance at the screen showed it was Master Sinclair.

Her expression tightened as she answered the call.

The old master rarely called unless something was wrong.

"Mr. Sinclair..."

"Leigh, I can’t get through to Aurora’s phone. Is everything alright?"

His voice on the other end was filled with worry.

Leigh Miles glanced at her meditating senior, then lowered her voice and replied, "Aurora’s phone is broken, and she hasn’t had it fixed..."

Master Sinclair let out a sigh of relief. Kingsford had been a bit chaotic recently, so it was good that Aurora was staying at Sunstone. It was just that Chester Greene had called earlier, and he had sounded quite angry.

"Leigh, tell Aurora not to fall behind on her schoolwork. Have her call Professor Greene back when she has a moment. He’s very worried..." After a few more words of advice, Master Sinclair hung up.

Leigh Miles looked at her senior again and sighed helplessly. ’Even the Martial Lord can’t escape the torment of exams.’

After getting off the plane, before Alvin Morgan could even speak, Jared Miles announced he was taking his two junior sisters to stay at the new house he had bought.

He had purchased it during his last trip to Kingsford, specifically to keep the Morgans at a distance.

Seeing his master’s face instantly darken, Benjamin Morgan pushed up his glasses and tried to save the situation. "Aurora, Professor Greene called my master to tell you about your exams. It would be more convenient to stay at your old place..."

"No need. The Radiant Void Sect has a house near Arcadian University as well."

"All their things are at the old place."

"I’ll send someone to pick them up."

Jared Miles shut down all of Benjamin Morgan’s excuses.

He looked ready to draw a clear line between them and Alvin Morgan.

"Aurora, where do you want to stay?"

Out of options, Benjamin Morgan passed the buck to Aurora Sinclair.

As all eyes focused on her, Leigh Miles could have sworn her senior’s head swelled a little from the pressure.

After a moment’s hesitation, she looked at Jared Miles and said, "Let’s go back to the old place for now. We’ve already paid the rent."

"How much did you pay?"

"A lot. It would be a waste not to stay there." Aurora Sinclair glanced at Leigh Miles.

Leigh immediately nodded in agreement. "Jared, we paid a ton of money, and we won’t get it back if we don’t stay there."

Jared Miles’s gaze darkened, but not wanting to let Alvin Morgan have his way, he said in a low voice, "If that’s the case, then we’ll stay there for now."

Jared Miles carried the luggage and followed Aurora Sinclair and Leigh Miles back to their apartment.

Although they hadn’t been back in a long time, the place was spotless. It was obvious someone had cleaned it in advance.

Alvin Morgan watched Jared Miles’s back as he entered the apartment, then said coldly, "Go get all four years’ worth of university textbooks."

Beta Morgan shivered.

That evening, as Aurora Sinclair was looking at Master Aerion’s computer, she suddenly heard Leigh Miles shout, "Aurora! Morgan brought you your books. You have exams next week!"

Aurora Sinclair froze, her posture seeming to slump a little.

She closed the laptop and carefully locked it in the silver combination case beside her.

Under Jared Miles’s displeased gaze, Aurora Sinclair and Alvin Morgan went into the study.

For four straight days, aside from eating, using the restroom, and sleeping, the two of them remained in the study, cramming.

Watching her brother’s expression grow darker and darker, Leigh Miles silently swapped his tea for a cup of "cooling" herbal soup.

After several months away, the Arcadian University campus was much quieter, as it was now winter break.

Aurora Sinclair had rushed back to take her exams before the professors went on vacation.

She was the only student in the entire examination hall.

However, there were six proctors.

Alvin Morgan, Chester Greene, Erin Archer, Gregory Sherman, and the deans of two different departments.

Twelve pairs of eyes were staring straight at her.

Aurora Sinclair calmly filled out the exam papers, writing from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon, with only a one-hour break for lunch.

As soon as she finished one exam, someone would immediately take it outside to grade it on the spot.

The exams went on like this for three consecutive days.

When all the scores were tallied, everyone except Alvin Morgan was in a state of bewilderment.

Perfect scores on everything. Not a single wrong answer.

Even on the history-based questions for the archeology department, every single answer was perfectly on point.

And these were the most difficult, tricky, and obscure questions they had personally selected from the question bank.

They weren’t even sure they could get perfect scores themselves, yet this girl’s answers were nearly identical to the official answer key.

She had even provided two different solutions for a major physics problem, pointing out that the question itself was imprecisely phrased.

’With this level of ability, she could just graduate already.’

"Master, this girl is an absolute genius! It would be a total waste of her talent not to have her join a research institute..."

Chester Greene took Aurora Sinclair’s exam papers and ran to the Morgan family’s old residence to persuade Master Morgan. But the old master just sipped his tea with a smile, nodding frequently but not saying a word.

Susan Warner, who was beside him, poured him a cup of tea. She glanced at her own husband, who was pretending to be profound, and said bluntly, "Greene, if you had brought this up two months ago, he might have been able to help you. But now, he can’t get involved even if he wanted to."

"Why? Did my junior brother cause some kind of trouble again? That kid is always running around with that girl. Isn’t he holding her back?"

Master Morgan coughed twice and shot him a glare. Chester Greene immediately shut his mouth. His master’s wife was famous for being fiercely protective of her own.

No one was allowed to say a bad word about her grandson.

Susan Warner replied unhappily, "She’s a person from the Martial World. This old man of mine can’t interfere..."

Chester Greene was stunned.

Susan Warner said coolly, "She’s no ordinary person."

The Veridian Martial Alliance.

Zane Lockwood, his face grim, watched the noisy Martial Arts Masters before him with fury simmering in his eyes.

"If I find out who is pulling tricks behind the scenes, I’ll risk my life to make sure they don’t get away with it!"

"Ever since the Lowell Family fell, this Martial Alliance has become more and more of a cesspool. It was better when the Lowells were in charge!"

"Exactly! The Lowell Family may have been ambitious and practiced demonic arts, but did their entire clan have to be wiped out? The people at the top are ruthless."

"Could it be they were framed?"

...

Listening to the chatter from the various families, Zane Lockwood glared at Derek Vance, cursing him inwardly for his hypocrisy.

’The Vance Family used underhanded means to seize most of the Lowell Family’s power, and now he’s putting on this victim act, secretly instigating others to be hostile towards my Lockwood Family. He’s utterly shameless.’

Zane Lockwood cleared his throat a few times, glanced at Dean Morgan, who had remained silent, and suppressed his anger as he said:

"Everyone, I understand how you feel. The Martial Affairs Bureau has already begun investigating this matter and will certainly give you all an explanation. Young Lord Morgan will be here shortly. He will ask you some questions related to the case, and I hope you will all cooperate fully."

The noise in the room subsided a little.

Derek Vance’s eyes narrowed. He said with a hostile expression, "It’s hardly appropriate for him to investigate, is it!"

The pointed remark made Zane Lockwood’s face darken. "What’s inappropriate about it? Young Lord Morgan has always been impartial and is very experienced in investigations. He is the most suitable person for the job. If the Head of the Vance Family feels otherwise, you are free to suggest someone else. However, the only one in Veridia who can be mentioned in the same breath as the Morgan Family is the one from Sunstone..."

Derek Vance was at a loss for words, and the walnuts he was rotating in his hand came to a halt.

Most of the Ancient Martial Families in the room didn’t know what "Sunstone" represented. By saying this, Zane Lockwood was clearly threatening him.

Derek Vance’s eyes narrowed slightly, and his tone softened. "Mr. Lockwood, we are here to solve problems, not to bicker. Especially now that the Martial King has been crippled and our enemies are eyeing us hungrily. The competition this June is especially important. I believe we should all cast aside our past grievances and present a united front, rather than fighting amongst ourselves. As for Young Lord Morgan investigating... let’s just forget it. He’s not from the Martial World, so it’s not appropriate for him to investigate..."

He spoke with such righteous indignation that the smaller families sitting around him nodded frequently in agreement.

"Exactly! Why should an outsider investigate the affairs of the Martial World?"

"Does he even know what ’Power’ is?"

"A martial arts cripple wants to meddle in the affairs of the Martial World?"

Zane Lockwood didn’t rise to the bait. Instead, he turned to Dean Morgan. "When will your Young Master arrive?"

Dean Morgan glanced at his watch and replied succinctly, "He’s downstairs now."

Seeing this, Derek Vance slammed the table and shot to his feet. "This is a high-level meeting of the Martial Alliance! Only Martial Arts Masters may attend. Mr. Lockwood, what is the meaning of this?"

"Head of the Vance Family, what is the meaning of *your* actions?"

The atmosphere in the room was tense, like a drawn bow.

The two factions glared at each other, their tempers flaring.

"If that’s how it’s going to be, then please excuse us." With a grim face, Derek Vance stood up to leave.

But just as he reached the door, a clear, cold female voice suddenly rang out: "Go back to your seat."
