My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 275 - 267: Did That Kid Get into Trouble?

Derek Vance froze.

A crushing pressure slammed into his chest, forcing him back seven or eight steps.

Three men and a woman stood outside the door.

Alvin Morgan was at the front. The young woman was the same one from the combat tournament’s opening ceremony. The other man was someone he had never seen before—not one of the usual faces.

Derek Vance was instantly on guard. The two people behind Alvin Morgan showed no fluctuations of Power, but their strength was not to be underestimated.

The young woman, in particular, was rumored to be a 5th-dan Great Martial Master.

"Young Lord Morgan, what is the meaning of this?" Derek Vance asked stiffly.

Alvin Morgan smiled and glanced at Dean Morgan. "Dean..."

Dean Morgan immediately stood up, took out an ordinary wooden tablet, and showed it to Derek Vance. "Sunstone has authorized the Morgan Family to investigate this matter."

Derek Vance’s pupils contracted. The design on the wooden tablet was indeed an artifact from Sunstone.

"In that case, I will leave it in your hands, Young Lord Morgan."

Derek Vance suppressed his displeasure and started to walk back.

But then, a member of another Ancient Martial Family who had been following behind asked in dissatisfaction, "Who is this Sunstone? On what authority can they empower the Morgan Family to investigate?"

Derek Vance’s heart clenched. Before he could speak, the man behind Alvin Morgan unleashed a blast of energy from his palm. The questioner was sent flying, crashing hard against the wall.

"It seems I’ve been off the mountain for too long. Have some people forgotten the rules of the Martial World?"

Derek Vance’s face went pale. He immediately performed an Ancient Martial Ceremony toward the man. "Your Excellency, please calm your anger. The outside world is unaware of Sunstone’s affairs. I beg you not to hold it against them—"

Jared Miles snorted coldly and sat right down in Zane Lockwood’s chair.

Everyone in the room wore a different expression. A man to whom even Zane Lockwood deferred was not someone they could afford to offend.

Especially when, with a mere flick of his wrist, he had sent a Martial Arts Master flying. It was clear this man’s power was at least that of an 8th-dan Grandmaster, if not higher.

"Young Lord Morgan, Miss Sinclair, please, have a seat—"

Zane Lockwood had his men stand up to give them their seats.

"Junior Sister, sit here." Jared Miles suddenly stood, offering his seat to Aurora Sinclair. He then took a seat beside Alvin Morgan.

This gesture caused the expressions of many in the room to shift once again.

The way Derek Vance looked at Aurora Sinclair changed again.

’No wonder her Combat Power is so high for her age. So she’s from Sunstone. The Lowell and Lockwood Families certainly kept that secret well hidden.’

Alvin Morgan began to question the high-ranking members of the Martial World in the room.

Aurora Sinclair sat at the head of the room, watching them with a detached gaze. Suddenly, with a slight movement of her hand, a teacup in front of one of the men shattered.

This sudden event made everyone’s face drain of color. Striking with Power from a distance—that was a Martial King’s Skill.

The man’s face turned a deep, purplish-red, as if an invisible hand were squeezing his neck.

Dean Morgan immediately went over and searched the man, pulling a listening device from his clothes.

Aurora Sinclair flicked a finger again, and the small, blinking bug in Dean Morgan’s hand disintegrated into dust.

The room fell silent.

No one dared to speak. They all stared at Jared Miles, their eyes filled with a mixture of awe and terror.

’He’s definitely a Martial King, and a High Rank Martial King at that! Even stronger than Marshall Lowell.’

Jared Miles sighed inwardly. ’My junior sister’s skills have improved again.’

"Which family is he from?" Jared Miles asked.

To prevent the man from committing suicide, Dean Morgan took the opportunity to dislocate his jaw and restrain him.

No one dared to speak, but all eyes fell upon the two heads of the Quincy Family: the former head, Florence Quincy, and the current head, Hubert Quincy.

The expressions on both their faces were grim. The man being restrained was an Elder from the West Family, a family connected to the Quincys by marriage.

Furthermore, the head of the West Family was the older brother of Hubert Quincy’s husband.

Hubert Quincy shot to her feet, her face ashen. "The Quincy Family will give everyone an explanation for this!"

However, Alvin Morgan immediately called the Martial Affairs Bureau and sent them to the West Family’s residence.

But they were a step too late. The West Family estate was already engulfed in flames, and the family head was found dead inside.

The incident sent shockwaves through the Martial World.

In the West Family’s basement, they found the missing scions of the Ancient Martial Families.

All of them had lost their Vitality, but their bodies bore no wounds, leaving the cause of death a mystery.

Aurora Sinclair thought of the Evil Skill Marshall Lowell had practiced, and her gaze sharpened.

A state of paranoia and high alert once again gripped Kingsford.

The combat tournament was suspended.

Through his investigation, Alvin Morgan identified the most likely location for the culprit: the hospital next to The Martial Alliance headquarters.

He deduced that the killer must have sustained severe internal injuries and needed to recover quickly, which was why they were using such a vicious, insidious technique to heal their body.

This raised the suspicion that this person was the same one who had murdered Master Aerion.

Aurora Sinclair followed Alvin Morgan to several of the crime scenes, all of which were located very close to the hospital.

They began to investigate the hospital’s list of patients with internal injuries.

"Elias Lennox? This kid has internal injuries, too?" Jared Miles asked in surprise, looking at a medical file.

Only then did Aurora Sinclair remember him.

’The last time I lost control, I think I injured him badly.’

She immediately took out her new phone and dialed Elias Lennox’s number, but it was turned off.

Both of their expressions shifted slightly.

Alvin Morgan took out his phone and called Arthur Lockwood.

"Holy shit! Am I seeing things? You’re actually calling me?" Arthur Lockwood’s exaggerated voice came through the phone.

Alvin Morgan’s brow furrowed. "Where is Elias Lennox?"

"He’s in a match! You eloped with our ace Boxer, so I had to find a replacement!"

It was indeed very loud on Arthur Lockwood’s end.

Aurora Sinclair glanced at her phone. Today was DAF’s last regular season match.

"Send me Elias Lennox’s competition schedule for the past two months."

"What’s wrong? Is the kid in some kind of trouble?" Arthur Lockwood’s voice grew more serious. Although he had been away leading the team in out-of-town competitions, he had heard that things in Kingsford were unsettled.

The Lowell Family had suffered a catastrophe a while back and had already withdrawn from Kingsford, relocating to a small city that was supposedly the hometown of the new Family Head Stephen Lowell’s wife.

"Just send it over first."

Just as he said that, Dean Morgan burst through the door, his expression grave. "Sir, we’ve found the West Family’s travel records. The Family Head was indeed in Kenton on that day."

Aurora Sinclair’s expression changed instantly. She stepped forward and demanded, "Did he pick anyone up?"

Dean Morgan shook his head. "He was on the Quincy Family’s private jet. According to the flight crew, he was alone the entire time and didn’t bring any strangers on board."

"Send me the airport surveillance footage."

「Elsewhere.」

On the competition stage, a smirk played on Elias Lennox’s lips as he executed a "Twin-Blade Kill," bringing the game to match point.

This was a critical match for DAF. A win would secure their spot in the playoffs, so every DAF fan was watching intently.

Finally, the final bell of the match rang.

DAF defeated Dominant Dynasty, winning the match.

The DAF fans in the stadium erupted in cheers, chanting "King of Night!"

Seth Sterling, who was watching the match live, excitedly sent a voice message from his phone.

"Aurora, DAF won!"

"Aurora, the King of Night is so damn good!"

"Aurora, who do you think would win in a fight, Master Rory or the King of Night?"

After sending the voice messages, Seth Sterling habitually started to put his phone away, but to his surprise, she actually replied this time.

Aurora: Mmm...

Aurora: He’s very good.

Aurora: Master Rory would win.

Then, he saw the status of all the voice messages he’d sent over the past few months begin to change to "Played."

The surprise on Seth Sterling’s face turned to delight.

He sent another voice message. "Aurora, you’re back?"

Suddenly, a voice call request popped up on his screen.

Seth Sterling’s eyes lit up as he answered. Aurora Sinclair’s voice came through:

"For the match on December 28th... was the King of Night late?"
