Chapter 461 - 459: We Want to be the Child’s Godmother
"You guys are so mean, always teasing me."
"Don’t be mad. We’ll stop talking about it."
"It seems we can only rely on luck to see if we can find another boy like him," Guan Yutong said with a touch of regret.
However, the girls’ moods came and went quickly, and soon, something else caught their attention.
"On the day of the engagement ceremony, we’re going to be your bridesmaids."
"Right, right, right! We’re going to be bridesmaids, and the most beautiful group of bridesmaids ever at that."
"Hey, speaking of bridesmaids, I have a question. Will Xue Yang be inviting his groomsmen?"
This question sparked another enthusiastic discussion among the self-proclaimed fairies. They believed that birds of a feather flock together, so a man as outstanding as Xue Yang must have equally outstanding friends. This meant there might be a genuine opportunity to meet someone.
Lin Xi blushed and quickly typed a message on her phone, "It’s an engagement, not a wedding! Where is all this talk of bridesmaids and groomsmen coming from?!"
"That’s true. Ah, does that mean we’re missing out on a chance to meet our Prince Charming?"
"More like they’re missing out on the chance to meet some rich ladies," Chen Meili added.
"You all have a point."
"By the way, Xiao Xi, do you two plan to get married right after college?"
"I guess so."
We’re already engaged. If we don’t get married after graduation, when will we? I don’t want to wait that long.
"Then after you’re married, you’ll be a mom! Wow! I can’t wait to see what your and Xue Yang’s baby will look like. Will they look more like you or like Xue Yang?"
Lin Xi was also curious to know if their child would look more like her or like Xue Yang.
"That’s so far in the future, it’s impossible to know."
"Anyway, we’re calling dibs on being the baby’s godmothers!"
"Right, godmothers! If it’s a girl, we’ll order so many beautiful little dresses for her. And if it’s a little prince..."
This question gave everyone pause. How exactly does one raise a little prince? It was hard to say.
"If it’s a little prince, then let’s teach him how to charm girls from a young age. When he grows up, he’ll be a total heartbreaker."
The girls let their imaginations run wild in the group chat. By the time Xue Yang finished his work, the WeChat chat history had long surpassed 99+ messages.
Xue Yang’s eyelid twitched. When these girls don’t chat, all is quiet, but once they start, there’s no stopping them. Should I check what they were all talking about? It feels a bit inappropriate to read a girls’ chat log... But it seems someone @’d me. It would be even ruder not to reply after being tagged.
They were Lin Xi’s friends, so Xue Yang felt he should be respectful. With that in mind, he opened their chat, only to be met with the girls’ explosive conversation history. The plans weren’t even remotely concrete, yet they were already talking about children. And they were all clamoring to be the godmothers to his future children.
Truth be told, he had no problem with that. But... isn’t it a bit too early to be considering this?
"Speaking of which, Xiao Xi, have you and Xue Yang ever..."
Guan Yutong’s question voiced what all the girls were thinking. Xue Yang’s handsome face flushed with awkwardness. He was already considering leaving the group.
Why did I even join this group again? Oh, right. Si Wen pulled me in to grab red envelopes on New Year’s Eve. I managed to snag quite a few, and that was definitely not a small amount of money. If they’re going to discuss such private topics, why didn’t they just start a separate group chat? Isn’t there a saying that four girls can create a dozen different group chats?
Just as Xue Yang was hesitating over whether to speak up or leave, the ladies in the group finally remembered his presence.
Chen Meili typed, "Don’t forget, Xue Yang himself is still in the group."
"Oh, right! He’s still here."
Xue Yang breathed a sigh of relief. Now that they know I’m here, surely they won’t keep pressing the issue.
However, to his surprise, Guan Yutong tagged him directly.
Guan Yutong typed, "@Xue Yang, have you and Xiao Xi..."
Seeing this bold message, Xue Yang was so startled he choked and let out a sharp cough.
His coughing caught the attention of both Lin Xi and Si Wen. Lin Xi’s pretty face had long since turned crimson, and she didn’t dare to look Xue Yang in the eye. Even Si Wen looked uncharacteristically awkward.
"Oh, I forgot. You’re not just in the group chat, you’re literally sitting right next to us."
Xue Yang was left speechless.
Should I thank her for finally stating the obvious?
Averting her gaze, Si Wen sent a message to the group. "Regarding this question," she typed, "I suggest we create another group to discuss it in detail."
Xue Yang remained silent.
You could have just created a new group chat without announcing it in this one. Now I know you have another group... He mentally cleared his throat. It’s not that I want to join. I’m just curious what their conversations are like without any guys around. It must be quite a show.
While he was still feeling awkward, Auntie Shen came over to announce that lunch was ready.
The lunch was sumptuous and consisted mostly of Lin Xi’s favorite dishes. Conveniently, Si Wen and Xue Yang also enjoyed the same foods.
"It’s been so long since I’ve had your cooking, Auntie Shen. I’ve really missed it."
"I was worried the Young Miss wouldn’t be used to the food over there, given the huge dietary differences between the north and south. But seeing you today, you look even healthier than when you first left. I’m so relieved."
Back in Yancheng, the stress of the college entrance exams and living in the dorms had left Lin Xi looking quite haggard, which had pained Auntie Shen to see. Her original plan had been to use the holiday to nourish her back to health, but the trip to Xue Yang’s home had delayed that. At the time, Auntie Shen had thought that all the travel would make the Young Miss even more worn out. But looking at her now, her cheeks were rosy and the baby fat that had disappeared so long ago was back. She radiated a healthy, peaceful contentment.
Lin Xi cupped her face with her hands and smiled happily. "Oh, Auntie Shen, are you calling me fat in a roundabout way?"
"Young Miss, being thin isn’t the only standard of beauty. In my opinion, you look wonderful just as you are now. It makes me quite curious about what Xue Yang’s parents are like."
"Oh, his parents? They’re wonderful people. Really, really kind. I know you’ll like them when you meet them."
"I’m sure I’ll have the chance to meet them soon."
Anyone the Chairman approved of couldn’t be a bad person. Auntie Shen held a kind of blind, almost devout admiration for Lin Zhenhai. In truth, his judgment of character was impeccable. If his eye for people had been even slightly worse, the Lin Corporation wouldn’t be thriving the way it was.
After lunch, Xue Yang told Lin Xi and Si Wen to stay home while he drove to the Lipu Building.
When the staff at the studio found out he was back, the whole place erupted with excitement. They had all seen the televised grand opening ceremony of Xue Yang’s new energy vehicle superstore...
