Chapter 460 - 458: Finally Willing to Come Back
It was Xue Yang’s first time on a private jet.
How should I put this?
When they returned to Hui City, they had traveled in business class, which was already a league above ordinary seats. Xue Yang had been quite excited back then. But compared to this private jet, business class was nothing. It was the difference between heaven and earth—completely incomparable.
Lin Zhenhai was already seated inside.
"Dad." Lin Xi sat down next to Lin Zhenhai and affectionately wrapped her arm around his.
Xue Yang sat down beside them. "Hello, Uncle Lin."
Seeing Xue Yang and Lin Xi enter, Lin Zhenhai put away the tablet he was using to sign a contract and nodded at them.
Although it was his first time on a private jet, Xue Yang didn’t look out of his element at all.
Overall, his composure is excellent.
"I plan to host an engagement party for you two before school starts. Xiao Xi, Xue Yang, what do you think?"
"Dad, I have no objections."
"I have no objections either, Uncle Lin."
"Good. When the time comes, I’ll have someone invite your friends and relatives. As for the specifics, I’ll have my people discuss them with your father."
"Whatever you arrange is fine, Uncle Lin."
"You don’t have any opinions at all?" Lin Zhenhai asked with a bit of surprise.
Does he really plan on marrying into the family?
"I do."
"Oh? And what might those be?" Lin Zhenhai raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued.
"When Xiao Xi and I get married, I hope we can plan the ceremony according to our own wishes."
Lin Zhenhai pondered for a moment. He felt it was reasonable for him to arrange the engagement, but the wedding itself should be planned according to the children’s wishes. That was a fair request.
Lin Zhenhai nodded. "That’s acceptable."
"Thanks, Dad!"
"Thank you, Uncle Lin."
For the rest of the flight, the three of them made small talk. Lin Zhenhai also took the opportunity to ask Xue Yang about some business matters that had been troubling him recently. Xue Yang answered all his questions, and his suggestions were surprisingly insightful. Lin Zhenhai found himself growing more and more satisfied with his future son-in-law.
Three hours later, the plane landed at Yancheng Airport.
Lin Zhenhai had fallen behind on work after spending so much time in Hui City, so he headed directly to the Lin Corporation right after they landed. Meanwhile, Lin Xi and Xue Yang returned to Xiangshan Villa.
Knowing they were coming back today, Si Wen had skipped work to wait for them.
A little past one o’clock, Lin Xi and Xue Yang finally appeared at the door.
Si Wen, holding Xiao Bai, immediately rushed to greet them. She had prepared a whole welcome speech, but what came out was, "Finally decided to come back, huh?"
Xiao Bai seemed to understand that it now had two more humans to dote on it, letting out a stream of meows.
Lin Xi set down her suitcase and immediately gave Si Wen a big bear hug. "Si Wen, I missed you so much."
MEOW!
Xiao Bai, having been unceremoniously set aside, padded over to Xue Yang’s feet. It began rubbing its head against his shoes and pant legs as if to say, "Pick me up."
Xue Yang bent down to pick up Xiao Bai, caressing its fluffy head.
Now I get why Si Wen likes cats. They really are incredibly soft to pet.
With his large hands, Xue Yang began to mercilessly ruffle the cat’s fur, quickly turning its neat coat into a chaotic mess.
Startled, Si Wen quickly snatched Xiao Bai back from him. "Heavens, you’re so rough! You’ll frighten the poor thing to death!"
"Miss, you’re back."
Just then, Auntie Shen came out of the villa. She had been preparing lunch and heard the commotion outside. Coming to take a look, she was pleasantly surprised to see Lin Xi and Xue Yang had returned.
"Auntie Shen, I missed you so much."
Lin Xi ran up to Auntie Shen and gave her another big bear hug.
"Well, well. So I’m not the only one you missed," Si Wen huffed, turning her head away from Lin Xi.
"Oh, come on. You’re both the most important people to me."
"Hello, Young Master Xue," Auntie Shen greeted him with a slight nod.
"Auntie Shen, it’s been a while. Thank you for taking care of the villa while we were away."
"It’s my job, of course. You must be hungry. I’ll get back to cooking; lunch will be ready soon." With that, Auntie Shen hurried back into the kitchen to check on the stove.
"Is your dad really planning to hold an engagement party for you before school starts?" This was what Si Wen was most concerned about at the moment.
Lin Xi’s face flushed slightly as she nodded. "Yes, of course it’s true. How could it be fake?"
"I just feel... your relationship is going so smoothly, I’m almost jealous."
"Oh, don’t overthink it. Your future relationship will definitely go just as smoothly. Just like mine," Lin Xi said comfortingly, hugging Si Wen’s arm.
"I hope so. By the way, what do you want for an engagement gift? How about a diamond the size of a pigeon’s egg? A golden pig is also an option. I could get you one that’s a one-to-one scale model of a real pig," Si Wen said grandly.
Hmm... Lin Xi pictured the spectacle of Si Wen presenting them with a life-sized golden pig.
"Your being there is enough of a gift. A golden pig is way too extravagant!"
"It’s not extravagant! Or, I could get you a golden suckling pig instead. Yes, that’s just right," Si Wen decided, finalizing the matter.
Seeing her best friend find happiness, she would naturally give her all to offer the best blessings.
"Si Wen, thank you."
"Don’t thank me. What are best friends for? Of course I have to spoil you."
...
When news of Lin Xi’s engagement broke, the WeChat group with her girlfriends, which had been quiet for some time, instantly exploded with activity.
"Xiao Xi, are you really getting engaged? Is it with that Xue Yang?"
"Who else could it be but Xue Yang? Surely not some other guy, right?"
"Xue Yang is a great catch. He’s hardworking, ambitious, treats you so well, and he’s handsome... Sigh, all this talk makes me want to go out and see if I can find a guy like him too."
"Me too, me too! Why don’t we go out as a group and try to pick one up? We can even ask Xue Yang where to find knock-offs of him."
"He’s in this group, you know," Guan Yutong suddenly typed.
Instantly, the chat blew up as if someone had dumped in boiling water.
The girls started frantically tagging Xue Yang.
"@Xue Yang, groom-to-be, say something!"
"@Xue Yang, groom-to-be, say something!"
"@Xue Yang, groom-to-be, say something!"
...
Lin Xi had been reading the messages in the group the whole time. Finally, she looked up at Xue Yang.
He had opened his laptop to deal with work the moment they got back to the villa. He was so busy, he was starting to rival her old man.
"You guys, stop tagging him," Lin Xi typed.
"Ooh, the bride is defending her groom! Alright, we’ll stop tagging him."
"No more tagging."
"No more tagging."
...
Everyone’s reaction made Lin Xi’s face flush an even deeper shade of red.
