Unrivaled Soldier in the City

Chapter 466 Subduing Zeyu

Hearing this, Lin Kuang was slightly startled. In the next instant, his expression changed as he felt the Qi Sphere in his hand begin to pulse, as if it could explode at any moment.

His expression grew solemn. The Qi Sphere was already powerful; if it exploded, its might would multiply. At that moment, he also understood why Fan Zeyu’s ultimate move was called Rushing Cannon: the damned thing could actually detonate.

With this in mind, Lin Kuang took a deep breath and pushed his terrifying True Qi to its absolute peak. He didn’t have much time.

Instantly, his hands wove through the air, unleashing a formidable power that launched the Qi Sphere away. It shot high into the sky, and just as it reached its apex, it exploded.

BOOM!

A violent roar echoed as the remnants of the Qi Sphere scattered through the air like fireworks.

Watching Lin Kuang dismantle his strongest attack, a wry smile touched Fan Zeyu’s lips. Lin Kuang’s power had completely exceeded his expectations. He had no choice but to admit he was no match for him.

As the Qi Sphere burst apart, Lin Kuang let out a faint sigh of relief, his gaze falling upon Fan Zeyu. Thank goodness I threw it into the sky in time. I’m afraid even I couldn’t have withstood a blast like that.

Fan Zeyu was also looking at him, his eyes hollow. "Come on," he murmured, his voice laced with a longing for death. "Kill me."

Lin Kuang calmly walked over and drove a hard punch into Fan Zeyu’s chest. He hadn’t used any True Qi in the punch. If he had, Fan Zeyu would have died without a doubt.

Even so, Fan Zeyu’s face turned pale as blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. However, some of the emptiness in his eyes cleared.

Looking at Lin Kuang, Fan Zeyu asked, puzzled, "Why?"

"Nothing much. Just trying to snap you out of it," Lin Kuang said calmly. "I also want to tell you that no matter what burdens you carry, you cannot die. If you die, everything is over. If Fan Wudao has some hold over you, or is keeping your family and loved ones captive, then you have even more reason not to die. Besides, if he is holding them, do you really think a man as ruthless as him would let them live?"

Lin Kuang’s words stunned Fan Zeyu. A moment later, his eyes filled with horror. He had never thought it through before, but Lin Kuang’s words made everything terrifyingly clear. Just as he said, if his lover had fallen into Fan Wudao’s hands... could she possibly still be alive?

At the thought, all color drained from Fan Zeyu’s face, leaving it ashen. He collapsed to the ground in despair. I understand now. Qu Xinmeng is probably already dead. Otherwise, why would Fan Wudao refuse to even let me see her?

Watching Fan Zeyu’s desolate expression, Lin Kuang seemed to understand something, but he said nothing. Some burdens a man must bear alone.

But at that moment, Fan Zeyu raised his right hand and slammed it toward his Heavenly Spirit Cover, clearly intending to commit suicide.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang grabbed his wrist. "What do you think you’re doing?" he asked coldly.

"Let me go! I want to die!" Fan Zeyu roared, struggling against his grip.

Lin Kuang forcefully shoved his arm away. "Fine, go die! A coward like you has no reason to live. Just die and stop wasting Earth’s resources."

Stunned, Fan Zeyu roared back at Lin Kuang, "A coward? You’re calling me a coward?"

Lin Kuang looked at Fan Zeyu’s enraged, bloodshot eyes and spoke with disdain. "That’s right. If you’re not a coward, what are you? You have the courage to face death, but you don’t have the courage to seek revenge? Tell me, what are you if not a coward?"

"I... I... I..." Fan Zeyu stuttered, at a complete loss for words.

"Your life is mine now, because I spared it. Therefore, you will live, and live well, for me. I don’t care what happened to your identity. The old you is already dead; you’re a dead man walking. Go to the Fan Family and find the clues you need to confirm your suspicions. If Fan Wudao really did the worst, then take your revenge!"

Fan Zeyu stood stunned for a moment, then his eyes lit with a new fire. "Revenge... revenge... that’s right! Revenge! I must have revenge! I can’t let Xinmeng have died in vain!" As he spoke, a powerful killing intent surged from him.

Looking at Fan Zeyu, Lin Kuang continued, "You can go. For now, this is all just suspicion. Go investigate. Once you’ve found the truth, come back and find me. I have something I’d like your help with."

Fan Zeyu nodded. "Alright, I promise." With that, he turned to leave.

"Wait a moment," Lin Kuang called out.

Fan Zeyu paused, startled. In the next moment, Lin Kuang’s palm rested on his back, and a torrent of pure True Qi poured into his body. Fan Zeyu’s body shuddered, and gratitude welled up inside him.

He had come here to kill Lin Kuang, yet Lin Kuang had not only spared him but was now helping him recover. Fan Zeyu was filled with gratitude. Whether Lin Kuang intended to use him or genuinely needed his help, Fan Zeyu would now do it. Of course, if he were asked to kill the innocent, he would still do it—but then he would leave. That was his choice.

Ten minutes later, with the True Qi in his body mostly restored, Lin Kuang finally removed his hand.

"Alright, you can go now," Lin Kuang said with a smile, wiping the sweat from his brow. "Be careful. I don’t want to see you coming back as a corpse." That took a lot out of me. Even though I can absorb the Force of Nature at will, it’s still tiring.

"Yes. I’ll be back tomorrow, alive," Fan Zeyu said before turning and leaving.

He didn’t offer any words of thanks. He didn’t need to. Actions always speak louder than words.

A faint smile touched Lin Kuang’s lips as he watched Fan Zeyu depart. He was pleased to have won over such a powerful warrior.

At that moment, Yang Ruoxi, Yang Ruotong, Liu Shilin, and Lin Guo’er hurried over and surrounded him.

The four women asked almost in unison, "Are you alright?" Concern was etched on each of their beautiful faces.

Looking at the four of them, Lin Kuang smiled. "Of course, I’m fine. But this isn’t over yet."

"What do you mean, ’it’s not over’?" Liu Shilin asked, puzzled.
