Chapter 467: Turbulence Again
"Because someone has yet to make an appearance," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "You, on the rooftop. After watching for so long, isn’t it time to show yourself?" His gaze, fixed on the rooftop, was filled with an icy coldness.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, the expressions on Yang Ruoxi and the other three women changed subtly, and they too looked toward the rooftop.
At that moment, a figure stood up on the rooftop, then floated down to land before the five of them. The others didn’t recognize the newcomer, but Yang Ruoxi did.
"Chen... Uncle Chen? What are you doing here?" Yang Ruoxi was taken aback for a moment before she asked, her eyes full of confusion.
"Ruoxi, we meet again," Chen Zhongxiang said with a smile, his eyes full of genuine concern. "Are you feeling better?"
Chen Zhongxiang had actually arrived much earlier, while Lin Kuang was fighting Fan Zeyu, which was why he hadn’t come down. Witnessing the terrifying strength Lin Kuang demonstrated in battle had left him utterly shocked. He had never expected Lin Kuang to be so fearsome; it completely surpassed his expectations. When he first arrived, despite his internal conflict, he had been confident of victory. However, that confidence vanished after seeing the power Lin Kuang displayed. Lin Kuang was simply too strong. Once Lin Kuang spotted him, he had no choice but to descend from the roof.
Hearing his words and seeing the concern in his eyes, Yang Ruoxi smiled sweetly. "Yes, I’m all better now. Thank you for your concern, Uncle."
At her words, Chen Zhongxiang was stunned. "Better?" he asked in disbelief. Tai Chi could suppress the Extreme Yin Cold Qi in her body, but curing it was thought to be impossible.
"Yes, all better. Truly," Yang Ruoxi said with a smile.
Hearing this, Chen Zhongxiang didn’t press the matter. Since she was better, Yang Ruoxi must have had some kind of miraculous encounter.
"A member of the Chen Family? I take it you’re here to kill me, too?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, looking at Chen Zhongxiang.
"No, Lin Kuang! Uncle Chen isn’t like Chen Zhongrui. He won’t attack you," Yang Ruoxi said with a smile. Chen Zhongxiang had always been kind to her, so her instincts rebelled at the thought of him attacking Lin Kuang.
As she spoke, she fixed her gaze on Chen Zhongxiang, her beautiful eyes filled with anticipation. Seeing her hopeful stare, Chen Zhongxiang grew uncomfortable. He couldn’t bring himself to meet her gaze and averted his head slightly.
Witnessing this, a chill went through Yang Ruoxi’s heart as a terrible premonition surfaced.
Just as she feared, Chen Zhongxiang spoke up. "Ruoxi, I’m sorry. I won’t kill Lin Kuang, but I must take something from him," he said, his voice tinged with bitterness and reluctance. He didn’t want to do this, but he had no other choice, and his heart was full of conflict.
At his words, Yang Ruoxi’s face paled, her beautiful eyes filling with deep disappointment.
Just then, Lin Kuang spoke up. "Something from me? Tsk tsk, I assume you mean Nameless? Mr. Chen, there’s no need to act so pained and helpless. It’s pointless." Lin Kuang’s voice was mocking, his gaze filled with disdain.
Hearing this, Chen Zhongxiang’s expression flickered. His eyes fell on Lin Kuang as he snapped, "Pretending? Do I need to pretend for you?!" Barely concealed anger burned in his eyes.
"Hmph, is that so? Then why did you bring others with you?" Lin Kuang asked with utter disdain. Does this guy take me for a fool?
"What? There are others?" Upon hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Chen Zhongxiang was stunned and blurted out the question, his eyes wide with shock.
Seeing his reaction, Lin Kuang was momentarily stunned. Chen Zhongxiang’s surprise seemed genuine. Does that mean he really didn’t know others were here?
"Are you sure you didn’t know other people were coming?" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask.
"I, Chen Zhongxiang, swear on my honor, I truly did not know!" Chen Zhongxiang declared, his expression utterly serious.
At that, Lin Kuang frowned and scanned his surroundings. "All four of you, come on out. Don’t think I can’t find you just because you’re hiding like insects." His tone was cold, and his eyes flashed with killing intent.
Despite his words, the manor remained quiet; no one appeared. Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s expression turned completely cold. "Very well. Since you love hiding so much, I’ll just have to drag you out myself!"
As he spoke, his figure vanished, activating the Willow Catkin Technique to move at maximum speed. He vaulted over the wall and threw a punch directly forward.
Across from him, the expression of a man in black changed slightly. He apparently hadn’t expected Lin Kuang to actually find him. Facing Lin Kuang’s terrifyingly fast attack, he had no time to dodge.
With no other choice, the man in black gritted his teeth and threw a punch of his own. The two fists collided in an instant.
BANG!
A booming sound erupted as the man in black was sent flying, crashing through the manor wall and appearing before Chen Zhongxiang and the others.
Seeing the man in black, Chen Zhongxiang’s face turned incredibly ugly. "Shadow!" he blurted out. "Who sent you?" Indeed, the man was a member of the Chen Family’s Shadow division, tasked with assassinations and handling matters the family preferred to keep quiet.
The Shadow member didn’t reply to Chen Zhongxiang. His qi and blood were in turmoil, and his internal organs felt as if they had been shattered, leaving him unable to speak. This alone was a testament to his own formidable strength, as not many people could take a direct punch from Lin Kuang and still be alive.
"Impressive strength. To think you’re still alive." Looking at the pale Shadow member standing there with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but comment.
Just then, three more black-clad figures emerged, swiftly surrounding him.
At this sight, Chen Zhongxiang’s expression grew even uglier. He was no fool; upon witnessing this scene, he instantly understood that Chen Fengyuan and Chen Lingzhen didn’t trust him. Otherwise, they would never have sent members of the Shadow division. The realization made his face darken further, and he now believed coming here had been a mistake.
Lin Kuang had been quietly observing Chen Zhongxiang’s expression. Seeing the ugly look on his face, Lin Kuang believed him; the man truly hadn’t known others were present.
Phew, it seems things aren’t so peaceful within the Chen Family, either.
