"Okay, Brother Gao. I like it this way."

As she spoke, a smug look crossed Shen Yanxia’s face, and she strode toward Lin Guo’er. Lin Guo’er’s chest heaved with fury, her beautiful eyes brimming with rage.

"Go on, be angry! This is the price you pay for hitting me!" Shen Yanxia sneered, raising her hand to slap Lin Guo’er.

However, Lin Guo’er was no wooden dummy; she tilted her head, trying to dodge. But just then, the man’s hand shot out, intending to hold Lin Guo’er’s head steady. This would prevent her from dodging and ensure Shen Yanxia’s slap landed squarely on her face.

The man was so fast that Lin Guo’er had no time to evade, and Liu Shilin was in no position to help.

But Lin Kuang was still there. How could he stand by and watch his woman get slapped?

Lin Kuang quickly dropped the packages he was carrying. His right hand flashed out, blocking Shen Yanxia’s palm and seizing the man’s wrist. This sudden turn of events caught everyone by surprise.

"Lin Kuang!" the man said, his tone icy.

"That’s right, it’s me. Gao Dongran, long time no see. I didn’t expect you to become so arrogant," Lin Kuang replied calmly, his voice cold.

Indeed, this man was none other than Gao Dongran of the Gao Family from Yanjing. He was a member of the Wild Wolf Special Forces and the very man who had succeeded Chu Zhongtian.

I never expected to run into him here, though. Yang Wucheng just called and said Gao Dongran wasn’t supposed to arrive until tomorrow. It looks like he left early.

"Arrogant? Lin Kuang, how could I possibly be as arrogant as you?" Gao Dongran said with a sneer.

Lin Kuang shook Gao Dongran’s hand off. "I’ve earned the right to be arrogant. You haven’t," he stated calmly, though his words were dripping with defiance.

Hearing this, a flash of fury crossed Gao Dongran’s eyes. The Gao and Lin Families were mortal enemies—their rivalry was a matter of one’s existence precluding the other’s. When Gao Dongran joined the Wild Wolf Special Forces, his primary goal had been to surpass Lin Kuang.

However, not only had he failed to surpass him, but he had also been completely suppressed by Lin Kuang in every respect, never even getting a chance to catch his breath. Lin Kuang became the Wolf King of the Wild Wolf Special Forces, while Gao Dongran could only watch helplessly.

Gao Dongran’s opportunity had come just over a year ago. After Lin Kuang blew up an American military base and was imprisoned in America’s Devil’s Island Prison, Gao Dongran was finally able to rise up and take the title of Wolf King.

"Brother Gao, who is this guy? Why is he so arrogant?" Shen Yanxia asked, looking at Lin Kuang with disdain.

"You’re from the Shen Family, right? Shen Yanyu is your older sister, isn’t she?" Lin Kuang asked, his expression complex.

Shen Yanyu was a good friend of his. Or rather, Shen Yanyu had feelings for him, but back then, all of his thoughts were on Mu Wan, and he had completely overlooked her. Thinking back now, Lin Kuang finally understood the depth of her feelings. The fact that this girl was her younger sister left him feeling rather helpless. Moreover, Shen Yanyu was such a sensible and understanding person; it was truly frustrating that her sister was so haughty and domineering.

Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Shen Yanxia froze for a moment. "You know my sister?"

"More than know her. Your sister and I are actually quite good friends," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

"You two don’t get along?" Lin Kuang asked, frowning.

"Of course not! Why should I get along with her? She’s a venomous woman who takes all the good things for herself. She’s not a good person!" Shen Yanxia spat, her eyes flashing with resentment again.

"Shut up, you wretch!" Lin Kuang roared, unable to contain his anger.

Startled, Shen Yanxia flinched, her body trembling. Yet, her gaze remained fixed on Lin Kuang with stubborn defiance.

"Do you have any idea what your sister has done for you? Do you know how much she adores you?

"You don’t. You don’t know anything! You’re just a jealous simpleton, a complete fool!" Lin Kuang said angrily, his stare terrifying Shen Yanxia.

"Lin Kuang, you shut up! This is none of your business," Gao Dongran cut in hastily, as if afraid of what Lin Kuang might reveal. "We’ll let today’s matter go. But remember this: now that I’m in East Sea, this isn’t over between us! From now on, in this city, there’s only room for one of us. We’ll see who comes out on top!"

With that, Gao Dongran grabbed Shen Yanxia and began to walk away.

"Gao Dongran, are you trying to marry into the Shen Family? Using a young girl to get your hands on her family’s resources... a scheme only you could think of!" Lin Kuang shouted after their retreating figures. "The Shen Family is truly something else, stooping to such filthy business. It’s really impressive. And you, Shen Yanxia, remember this: don’t let yourself be used. Don’t be so naive as to think the wolf at your side is harmless. If you ever want to hear your sister’s story, you’re welcome to find me anytime."

Lin Kuang didn’t elaborate, but his words had undoubtedly planted a seed in Shen Yanxia’s mind. Though that seed might not sprout right away, a day would come when it would, and on that day, she would seek him out on her own.

"Lin Kuang, who are they?" Liu Shilin asked, her curiosity mixed with a hint of worry in her beautiful eyes.
