Chapter 456 Ruoxi’s Purpose
"It’s fine. Let’s head back. I’ll explain everything once we’re home," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he picked up the packages from the ground.
Hearing this, Liu Shilin and Lin Guo’er nodded in agreement and helped Lin Kuang gather the bags.
By then, the onlookers, realizing there was no more drama to witness, began to disperse. Some even muttered under their breath that they had expected a fight and felt their time had been wasted. Hearing their comments, Lin Kuang fumed. Some people really loved to watch drama escalate!
After picking up the packages, the trio got in the car and drove away.
During the drive, Lin Kuang explained the identities of Gao Dongran and Shen Yanxia to the two women. After hearing his explanation, they finally understood just how influential Gao Dongran and Shen Yanxia were.
"Lin Kuang, what exactly is your identity?" Lin Guo’er asked. Since Lin Kuang dared to oppose Gao Dongran and even force his retreat, it was clear that his status was by no means inferior to Gao Dongran’s.
Hearing Lin Guo’er’s question, Liu Shilin also fixed her gaze on Lin Kuang, equally curious about his background.
Lin Kuang just smiled. "I’m nobody special, just a member of the Lin Family from Yanjing. To put it simply, the Lin Family is one of Yanjing’s four top families, and the Gao Family is another one," he said nonchalantly.
At his words, Lin Guo’er and Liu Shilin both shivered. Even though Lin Kuang had stated it simply, they now understood the true power of the Gao Family. It followed that the Lin Family, being on par with the Gao Family, must be just as terrifyingly powerful.
"Whoa, so it looks like we’ve married into a prestigious family," Lin Guo’er muttered to herself.
"What prestigious family? My family isn’t as rich as you two. I’ll be the one depending on you both in the future," Lin Kuang said with a beaming smile, glancing at them.
"So you’re saying you’re our kept man?" Lin Guo’er asked with a mischievous giggle.
"That’s right. I have the classic potential of a kept man. I’ll have to thank you two little heiresses for your generosity," Lin Kuang said cheerfully, making the two women giggle happily.
When they got home, it was just past nine in the evening. The three of them chatted for a while before washing up and heading upstairs to rest.
The next morning at five o’clock, Lin Kuang woke up on time, freshened up, and drove to Yang Ruoxi’s house.
"Good morning, Sister Tong."
When Lin Kuang arrived, he saw Yang Ruotong coming out of her room, carrying two bags of trash.
"Hm? Morning, Lin Kuang," Yang Ruotong said with a smile.
"Here, let me get that. You go on back and rest." With that, Lin Kuang took the garbage bags from Yang Ruotong’s hands and walked outside.
Seeing this, the smile on Yang Ruotong’s charming face deepened as she turned and went back into her room.
After disposing of the garbage, Lin Kuang entered the main hall.
Little Xinxin was the first to run over. For some reason, the little girl was very attached to Lin Kuang. Of course, Lin Kuang was also very fond of the adorable little girl.
After chatting with Little Xinxin for a while, Lin Kuang sparred with Yang Ruoxi and then began to transmit True Qi to her.
"Ruoxi, you’re on vacation now. What are you planning to do? Just stay at home the whole time?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, sitting beside her on the bed.
"I’m not sure. I was thinking of traveling alone to see more famous mountains and great rivers. That’s always been my dream," Yang Ruoxi said with a smile, leaning against Lin Kuang’s chest.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang was taken aback. "No, you can’t. It’s not the right time yet. Let’s wait until the matter with the Chen Family is resolved."
The last time Yang Ruoxi was captured, it was pure luck that he had managed to arrive in time. If it happened a second time, there was no telling what kind of danger she would be in.
"Alright, I know. I was just thinking out loud. Can I ask you a question?" she asked, lifting her head to look at Lin Kuang with her large, serious eyes.
"What is it?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.
"What were you doing last night?" Yang Ruoxi asked.
"Uh, I went shopping," Lin Kuang replied, startled. He had a bad feeling but answered honestly anyway.
"Who did you go shopping with?" she asked again.
"With... with two other women," Lin Kuang answered awkwardly.
"Who are they to you?" Yang Ruoxi pressed, her eyes turning red and misty.
"They are... they are... They’re my women, just like you," Lin Kuang said, bracing himself. He knew she had found out after all.
Hearing his words, the mist in Yang Ruoxi’s beautiful eyes condensed into tears that streamed down her face.
"Lin Kuang, you bastard, get out!" Yang Ruoxi screamed, shoving him hard with both hands before collapsing onto the bed, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Ruoxi! Ruoxi, I didn’t mean for this to happen! Please, listen to me!" Lin Kuang said frantically, watching her cry.
"GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT! I’m not listening! I’m not listening! You’re a jerk, a huge jerk!" Yang Ruoxi cried, pushing him out of the room and slamming the door shut.
Lin Kuang tried to go back in, but Yang Ruoxi had locked the door. He was so anxious he stomped his foot, completely clueless as to what to do.
How did Ruoxi find out? Was she at the mall yesterday, too? Never mind, it doesn’t matter. She would have found out sooner or later. How am I supposed to explain this now?
Lin Kuang paced anxiously outside the door, like an ant on a hot pan.
Just then, Yang Ruotong came upstairs. Yang Ruoxi’s shouts had been so loud, there was no way she could not have heard.
"What happened?" she asked Lin Kuang, her voice laced with concern.
"Sister Tong, Ruoxi found out I have other women. Ahem, what... what do I do now?" Lin Kuang said anxiously, grabbing Yang Ruotong’s hand.
Hearing this, Yang Ruotong gave him an exasperated look. She knew Ruoxi would find out about this sooner or later; after all, you can’t keep a secret like that forever.
"Alright, don’t panic. I know she still loves you. Let her cool down first. I’ll help you think of something. For now, you should just go home. She’s furious right now, and seeing you would probably just make her feel worse," Yang Ruotong said.
"Ah... okay. Please, Sister Tong, you have to help me," Lin Kuang said, feeling frustrated and helpless. I’ve really dug my own grave this time.
"Okay, I know. You should head home. Leave this to me for now," Yang Ruotong said with an amused sigh, her tone very gentle.
"Oh, alright then. I’ll get going," Lin Kuang said before leaving the Yang residence.
Lin Kuang didn’t even remember the drive back to Lin Guo’er’s house. His mind was in absolute turmoil, a complete and utter mess.
