Chapter 246. The World-Shifting Talisman, Little Shennong Cauldron, the Jiang Clan Moves
Chapter 246. The World-Shifting Talisman, Little Shennong Cauldron, the Jiang Clan Moves
Lu Yuan sounded perfectly calm. He remained calm, even though twelve Lesser Sages stood in his way.He stood in outer space just above the blue planet behind him, which still looked as beautiful as ever despite its massive size.
Lu Yuan's goal was clear; he would do whatever was necessary to protect Earth.
Earth's future depended entirely on this battle. Billions of lives hung in the balance. He had watched everything fall apart once before, and he refused to let it happen again.
Twelve Lesser Sages were undeniably powerful, but so what? Lu Yuan had a clear understanding of his own strength. Once he reached the Sage Realm, even all twelve of them wouldn't be able to touch him.
If he wanted to shatter their plan for a full-on descent, he would inevitably have to confront the Immortals. Even though the Immortals had yet to arrive, he still could not afford to take them lightly.
This was why he had uttered such words. His goal had always been clear to him, and his true enemies weren't those twelve Lesser Sages, but the Immortals.
The faces of the twelve Sages turned ugly, and terrifying auras erupted from them. Since reaching the Sage Realm, no one had ever dared to disregard them like this. They simply couldn't ignore what Lu Yuan had said.
They saw Lu Yuan's potential and were willing to recruit him, but they no longer harbored any goodwill toward him. Most of the races and clans here ranked among the top one hundred across the universe. They were extremely powerful with esteemed positions back in their starfield.
How about Lu Yuan? He was nothing but a human being from a civilization that had long since fallen behind.
"Wow, you sure are brave," the Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage said. His race ranked even higher than the Three-Headed Ghost Race and the Primeval Daemon Race. In fact, they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Celestial Race in the rankings. "But you've thrown away my goodwill."
His goal was simple. If Lu Yuan ended up becoming a part of the Yin Sparrow Race, he could leverage their race's deep reserves to smooth over any "misunderstandings" between Lu Yuan and the other races.
However, who could have known that Lu Yuan's arrogance actually knew no bounds?
Still, a Lesser Sage was a Lesser Sage. He remained calm even after hearing Lu Yuan's reply.
"Setting aside the fact that you're merely a Venerable King, you're still very young. Your talent and strength are extraordinary indeed, but can you really reach the moon with us standing here to stop you?
"The Immortals have already made a move. Before long, their ancestral planets will manifest and destroy that paltry Separation of Heaven and Earth. When that happens, your words will amount to nothing more than arrogant bluster."
The entire solar system had expanded massively, and the distance between Earth and the moon was already massive to begin with. If Lu Yuan wanted to quickly cross the distance, he had to become a Sage. After all, Sages could tear open space itself and shuttle through it.
Unfortunately, Lu Yuan was still at the fifth stage of evolution. If he were to move by flight alone, it would take him far too long to reach the moon.
Tearing through space was one of a Sage's signature abilities. Of course, one had to reach the Sage Realm if one wanted to tear through space. In other words, the Lesser Sage was saying that Lu Yuan was being too arrogant despite being weak.
"That's none of your concern." Lu Yuan said, smiling in response.
Then, he turned his palm over, and a jade talisman shrouded with a mysterious energy and aura appeared on his palm. Jiang Ningxian had given it to him a few days ago. It was a World-Shifting Talisman, and it was capable of transporting the user across vast distances in an instant.
It had ten uses, and for his goal of reaching the moon, it was more than enough.
Lu Yuan was done wasting time. He channeled his power into the talisman.
Hum!
A radiant light erupted from the talisman. Then, dense and intricate runes seeped out of it. They stretched in the direction of the moon and began transforming into a corridor made of runes and light.
"This is bad! He has a World-Shifting Talisman! And it's a high-quality one at that!" the Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage exclaimed. He hadn't anticipated this at all, but he reacted immediately and flapped his wings.
Towering black flames engulfed a distance of thousands of meters. The black flames were so huge that they seemed capable of swallowing an asteroid whole. The destructive power of those flames was staggering as well, and every asteroid that drifted into contact with them simply ceased to exist.
This was the full, unsuppressed power of a Lesser Sage, and it was laid bare for everyone to see. The other eleven Lesser Sages were just as stunned, but they recovered quickly and moved to attack.
Their mission was simple—keep Lu Yuan away from the moon at all costs.
Among them, the Lesser Sages of the Primeval Daemon Race and the Three-Headed Ghost Race harbored an additional goal. If they could kill him outright, it'd be much better.
Earlier, they held back because the Yin Sparrow Race wanted to recruit Lu Yuan. Now that the Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage had made his move, however, they no longer held themselves back.
None of them could figure out how Lu Yuan had gotten his hands on a World-Shifting Talisman, but it didn't matter anymore.
Stopping Lu Yuan and killing him if the chance presented itself was their priority.
The twelve Lesser Sages attacked at once, generating a combined force that was simply beyond imagination. Their attacks were so powerful that the space before them seemed to freeze. Their first target was the talisman's corridor. If they destroyed it, Lu Yuan would be little more than an insect they could crush at will.
Radiant arcs of light materialized across the vacuum, and each of them carried devastating amounts of power. Twelve attacks flew out at once, and all had the same target—Lu Yuan's talisman.
By now, the World-Shifting Talisman's runes had coalesced into a corridor that led directly to the moon. Unfortunately, those twelve attacks would land before Lu Yuan could walk through the corridor.
"All of you are Lesser Sages who have lived for centuries. Some of you must be at least a millennium old. How shameless are you to attack a mere junior?" Lu Yuan's voice echoed. Then, a massive jade-green cauldron appeared before Lu Yuan.
The cauldron exuded a vibrant life force, and mysterious energies swirled across its surface. The moment it appeared, the starry skies seemed to tremble, and it neutralized the attacks of all twelve Lesser Sages.
Even Lu Yuan was taken aback by the outcome. Then, he realized that the cauldron was far more powerful than any Sage Weapon.
"That's the Shennong Cauldron!" The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage's voice cracked with shock, and his scalp went numb at the sight. The Shennong Cauldron was a supreme artifact forged by the Celestial Emperor.
As quickly as he reacted, however, he realized that its aura wasn't quite powerful enough. "No, it's a replica. It's the Little Shennong Cauldron!"
"Little Shennong Cauldron... the Jiang Clan..." The Three-Headed Ghost Race's Lesser Sage muttered with a frown. "Has he become a part of the Jiang Clan?"
"That's impossible. The Jiang Clan has just left their ancestral planet," the Primeval Daemon Race's Lesser Sage replied, shaking their head in disbelief.
The others were equally shaken. One by one, they turned toward somewhere else. There stood Uncle Jiang. He was clad in a black robe, and his hands were clasped behind his back. A faint yet unmistakable aura seeped out of him.
He paid no attention whatsoever to the twelve Lesser Sages. Instead, he stared at Lu Yuan and nodded once. "King Lu, I'm here. You can go now."
Lu Yuan nodded. He had long known that there was something extraordinary about Uncle Jiang. The man's true strength before descending to Earth was definitely unfathomable. He looked like a Venerable King on the surface, but his presence alone dwarfed the twelve Lesser Sages.
