Chapter 247. Arriving at the Moon, Projection of the Top Hundred Starfields
Chapter 247. Arriving at the Moon, Projection of the Top Hundred Starfields
There was no time to deliberate. Lu Yuan knew every second counted. He stepped into the corridor without hesitation.
Uncle Jiang watched him go, and a faint smile tugged at his lips before he turned toward the twelve Lesser Sages.
"Truthfully, this matter doesn't concern any of you all that much. At most, it delays your descent. Why not sit with me and wait to see how things will unfold? It's not like you can do something about it anyway," he said. His tone was courteous, without a trace of aggression. He even recalled the Little Shennong Cauldron to his side.
The meaning behind his words was unmistakable. He had no desire to fight the twelve Lesser Sages, as he felt like it was meaningless.
"So that's how he got his hands on a World-Shifting Talisman," the Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage said. He stared as Lu Yuan's figure disappeared into the corridor. The black flames around him gradually dimmed. "He has the Jiang Clan's backing."
He knew that the Jiang Clan's representative would stop him if he were to throw out any attacks. Uncle Jiang appeared to be at the Venerable King Realm, but that was only because he had suppressed his strength to descend to Earth ahead of schedule. His true strength far exceeded what was on display.
He also had a replica of the Shennong Cauldron. Even twelve Lesser Sages working together couldn't possibly defeat him at this point.
"The Jiang Clan wants to descend as well. You shouldn't be helping him," the Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage said. They understood that the Jiang Clan could not be trifled with, but the top one hundred starfields had joined hands to conduct this operation.
Among them were clans no weaker than the Jiang Clan, and the Immortals of quite a few starfields were working together as well.
There was something he couldn't understand. The Jiang Clan wasn't one of the participants in this operation, but it didn't make sense for them to help Lu Yuan. After all, wouldn't they want to descend sooner rather than later?
"My clan has its own plans." Uncle Jiang offered no further explanation, as there was no need. His very presence here made the Jiang Clan's stance clear to everyone. "As I said, let's just wait here and observe."
"Wait?" The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage was unconvinced. "This is a joint operation by the top one hundred starfields, and those involved have made the same decision. The Jiang Clan is powerful, but are you sure you're prepared to stand against the entire universe?"
Descendants of a Human Sovereign, and Bearers of the Celestial Emperor's bloodline. These two titles alone were enough to eclipse over ninety-nine percent of the clans and races in the universe. However, this operation involved every major race and clan, including their Immortals.
The Jiang Clan couldn't possibly stop them alone.
"My clan has no intention of doing that, but Earth is our true homeland. We do not wish to see its people slaughtered. I know that some of the great clans that originally came from the Milky Way Starfield don't share that sentiment, but this is our stance."
Uncle Jiang's smile faded, and he met the gazes of the twelve Lesser Sages as he said, "Of course, if any of you wish to fight, then I will gladly oblige."
At the same time, Uncle Jiang was relieved. The strongest beings who had arrived in the solar system so far were Sages. None of them was beyond the Sage Realm. Otherwise, there would be nothing he could do here.
The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage was furious. "You—"
"That Lu Yuan is already on his way to the moon," the Primeval Daemon Lesser Sage interrupted. "There's nothing we can do about it now, so it's better to just wait. Besides, the Immortals are the ones making the real move here.
"Lu Yuan is just a Venerable King, and he's alone. Even if the sages of the Milky Way Starfield's human race had left behind a contingency plan, can that plan truly do something about those Immortals?"
The meaning behind his words was clear. Picking a fight with the Jiang Clan would be unwise. The Desolate Flame Starfield's reputation was undeniable; the Jiang Clan was not a clan to be trifled with.
The plan to erase the Separation of Heaven and Earth and make a full-on descent had already been set into motion by figures at a far higher level than them. The Sages here were just small fry, and they were all riding the coattails of that decision to descend on Earth ahead of schedule.
Offending the Jiang Clan over something like this was not a smart move.
The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage drew a deep breath and nodded. Then, he said nothing more and simply turned his gaze toward the moon.
The other eleven Lesser Sages likewise issued orders to their nearby clansmen, telling them not to fight Lu Yuan. This was a show of respect for the Jiang Clan, as they clearly didn't believe Lu Yuan could do anything against the Immortals and the combined might of the starfields.
Even the Jiang Clan wouldn't be able to say anything in the face of Lu Yuan's failure.
Meanwhile, Lu Yuan walked out of the corridor made by the World-Shifting Talisman. He found himself on the surface of the moon. The gravity here and the surrounding environment differed drastically from Earth, but he adapted within mere moments. He was a Venerable King, after all.
He looked back and saw thousands of beings from the Outer Cosmos in midair, alongside their starships and asteroids. They hadn't attacked him. The twelve Lesser Sages among them stood frozen as well.
Clearly, Uncle Jiang was a pretty effective deterrent.
When this is over, I'll have to give her a proper thank you, Lu Yuan thought, smiling as Jiang Ningxian's face passed through his mind. He cast his gaze deeper into space and saw dozens of planets in the distance.
Even though they looked barely visible, they emanated a fierce, dazzling light. It seemed the brighter they were, the richer and stronger the civilizations they housed.
They were massive, and every one of them dwarfed the sun, filling Lu Yuan's line of sight. Of course, this was all because Lu Yuan stood pretty close to them rather than from light years away.
Lu Yuan quietly crouched and cast his senses into the moon. It was similar to Earth, just as he expected. Modern science would explain it as a fragment of Earth, born from a cataclysmic impact eons ago, but there was something more to it now.
The moon was a contingency plan the sages of antiquity had prepared to protect Earth and all its living creatures. According to Jiang Ningxian, offering a sacrifice through the Nine Tripod Cauldrons could activate this contingency plan and reinforce the Separation of Heaven and Earth.
Rumble!
A violent tremor rolled through the vacuum and pierced Lu Yuan's ears. He looked up at the flickering planets and saw colossal figures flickering in and out of sight. At a mere glance, Lu Yuan instantly saw through their identities. They were those Immortals from the Outer Cosmos.
These overwhelmingly powerful beings had completed their preparations, and it was time for them to make a move.
Threads of radiant light poured out of them, illuminating the dark vacuum. Then, waves of energy cascaded outward as the projected ancestral planets pulsed with an indescribable energy that flew toward Earth.
Runes materialized one after another, intercepting that energy before it could reach Earth. It was the Separation of Heaven and Earth.
However, a hundred ancestral planets combined with the might of a few Immortals generated a force too overwhelming to resist. The runes were directly annihilated as the invaders created a passageway that would grant them access to Earth without being suppressed.
"It has finally begun!"
"The Immortals are on the other side of the universe, but their attacks can actually reach this place..."
"I think some old monsters have come out to lend a hand for this operation."
"That human Lu Yuan is too weak, and he has no idea what he's facing. What awaits him is nothing but despair."
The twelve Lesser Sages watched with clear joy on their faces. They could feel it. The Separation of Heaven and Earth's power was weakening as the runes enveloping Earth shattered at a steady pace. At this rate, it would shatter before long, and their full-on descent would begin along with the scramble for Providence.
As for Lu Yuan, none of them gave him a second thought. Could he really stop the collective will of the entire universe?
Even Uncle Jiang grew tense as he stared transfixed at the moon.
Would Earth be plunged into chaos? The answer to that would be revealed today.
