Chapter 220: The Competition 4

‎"What do we have here?" Damon muttered, looking at the person before him.

‎"How did you get up here, human?" The person asked with a frown, staring back at Damon with obvious distaste and idle curiosity, rather than wariness. The fact that Damon had gotten up there without their knowledge didn’t make them feel threatened. There were many bizarre abilities in this world, and teleportation was the least bizarre of them.

‎"Well, even though it’s none of your business, elf." Damon replied with a smile. "But let’s just say I like a high vintage point where I can overlook everything."

‎"Strange, talking to me how you like, do you not know who I am, human?" The elf asked.

‎"How am I supposed to know who you are, elf? Am I supposed to know every single person from a lesser race?" Damon replied without missing a beat.

‎"Alright, vile human." The person’s face twisted into a frown. "Forfeit your life." Before the words spoken by the person even reached Damon, the person’s rapier was already buried deep in Damon’s guts.

‎Damon eyes widened, as he continued to stare at the person with a shocked face, as if he couldn’t come in terms with the fact that he was dying.

‎The elf, however, felt something was wrong, they had felt no resistance whatsoever when piercing through the vile human.

‎The elf instantly blurred backwards with a frown while Damon merely brushed his clothes in an unhurried fashion as if the elf has dirtied it, even though he hadn’t been touched at all.

‎’Does he have a similar ability as mine?’ the elf thought with a frown.

‎Damon meanwhile, finished brushing his clothes off, before raising his head to look at the elf with a mocking smile.

‎"Mayura Silvermoon, a princess of the stuck up Elven empire, correct?" He asked with a smile, while scrutinizing the Elven princess.

‎As expected, Mayura Silvermoon didn’t have a single wound on her body, looking as though she had been on the ground since the beginning.

‎"So you do know me, human." Mayura frowned.

‎"Of course, I do, I think everyone participating in this competition knows of you and your abilities." Damon grinned. "That little information hub made sure of that."

‎But contrary to what Damon expected, Mayura’s frown didn’t deepen, instead, a small mocking smile graced her lips.

‎"Now I see where your confidence in standing before me comes from." She said. "You think knowing my abilities would enable you to stand before me?" Mayura shook her head. "Sometimes I can’t comprehend the retardation of the human brain."

‎’Why do I suddenly feel offended?’ Damon inwardly thought with a scowl, but outwardly, he showed nothing.

‎"Knowing my abilities would not make it any less painful when I snuff the life out of you."

‎"And yet, you still stand here talking to me, is it because you have magnanimously decided not to kill me?" Damon also replied with a mocking smile. "No, I think it’s because you cannot, or rather you don’t think you could easily enough."

‎Mayura’s mocking smile vanished into a frown. The vile human was right on track, she hadn’t attacked again because she want sure what abilities he possessed.

‎At first she had even though his ability was somehow similar to her’s, density manipulation. Her initial ability allowed to to manipulate her own density as will, easily phasing through solid objects and attacks at will, or even increase har density to make herself desire than most Gamma ranked materials.

‎And her Zeta ability allowed her to use her ability on others and her surrounding. Which she had to admit made her particularly a fearsome opponent.

‎When she had tried to use her ability on the human before her, it didn’t work, which shouldn’t have been possible if he lowered his density to let attacks pass through him. In fact, it seemed as if he wasn’t even occupying space in the material world.

‎’A kind of ability that let him slip into another space perhaps.’ she thought.

‎How had someone with such an ability remained hidden? That information hub should have included information about him.

‎But on second thought, the information hub would only give out information on individuals they were asked about.

‎"What is it that you want, human?" Mayura regained composure and asked. It wasn’t that she was suddenly wary of the vile human, no, she knew for a fact that if the human wanted to attack her, he’d have to leave that space he’d slipped into. She could seduce that much. If he could attack her from that space, he’d have already done so.

‎"Why do you think I’d want anything from a lesser creature?" Damon asked putting on a look of genuine disgust and puzzlement.

‎In truth Damon just wanted to provoke her for nothing other than it being fun. Of course if she had happened to have acquired a sphere, he wouldn’t hesitate to take it off her hands.

‎"You..." Mayura wanted to fume but stopped herself. That would be no less than bringing herself down to the level of this vile human. Elves were clearly the superior race, it didn’t matter even if these retarded humans believed that the other three races originated from them.

‎Still, she planned on dealing with the human even though she had no way of getting to the vile human at the moment, and he better pray that she does not, because if she does, she’d make him beg for death.

‎She snorted and turned away from Damon, then called for the map and fixed her eyes on the positions of the hundred spheres, leaving the him in silence.

‎Of course she still kept ninety- nine percent of her senses on Damon, so there was no chance of her getting sneak attacked.

‎However, at that same moment, a piercing shriek echoed through the apocalyptic city.

‎"Above us." Damon mentioned calmly, though he didn’t need to, Mayura had also sensed it.

‎Up above the city, was a full flock, or rather, a full army of giant sized vultures. But these weren’t any ordinary vultures, instead they were thunder claw vultures. The thunder talon were a beast species that possessed extremely long claws sharper than most weapons. Not only that, it’s talon can channel lightning, paralyzing its opponent upon contact, or sending a large elemental claws shaped attacks made of lightning with a wave of it’s talons, making it an extremely deadly predator.

‎But that wasn’t all, the thunder talon vultures moved in flocks of hundreds, each at least at the Zeta- rank.

‎The thunder talon vultures covered the sun above like a storm cloud heralding a storm, and It seemed like the vultures possessed a good eye for prey, because at the very next instant, the entire flock angled their bodies, and shot towards the two beings on the highest point in the city with thunderous shockwave as not a single one of the vultures did not break past the sound barrier like it was paper.

‎Mayura gazed at the human to see if he was going to do anything about it, but instead, she saw something entirely different. the vile human had at some point brought out a chair and was lounging on it without a care in the world.

‎This distasteful human was insufferable, Mayura concluded. But she also wasn’t worried about these overgrown birds, Zeta ranked or not.

‎Multiple thunder talon vultures tried to clutch onto Mayura and Damon, but their talons simply slipped through them as if they weren’t even there.

‎If it were any other two, this would have been a desperate battle for survival, but these two were perhaps the only two.who could afford to sit still in the charge of multiple beasts.

‎Mayrura’s density manipulation has lowered her density making her invulnerable at the moment. As for Damon, well he wasn’t truly present in this plane, because he was in the mirror dimension.

‎-------------

‎After finding herself falling from the sky, Rose had used her flames to conjure wings behind her back. But it only let her glide her way towards the ground not truly fly like she had expected. Each flap of the flames wings were only resisted against the pulling force of the gravity.

‎Still, amongst all that, Rose still landed completely untouched, and not even a minute later, the beginning of the second phase was announced.

‎With a flick of her will, the map displaying the location of the spheres manifested before her eyes.

‎’Not one is particularly close to my location." She mused and dismissed the map. However, the moment she did, she sensed something, or rather, someone rapidly approaching her, and in a second, it became visible who was.

‎"Isolde Von Sanguine, the summoning princess," Rose called. "To what do I owe the pleasure?" she asked.

‎"Rose Darkfell, the Phoenix princess," Isolde called out Rose’s name in turn. "I hope we won’t have to clash this early in the game.

‎From the information hub, both had gotten information on what the other could do, so there were no surprises. They both knew the ranks, and the abilities of the other.

‎Calling out their names, associated with the unofficial title they were given due to their specific abilities was another way of saying; I know what you can do.

‎"How about we work together for now? At least until those things pursuing after me are gone?" Isolde proposed.

‎Rose’s face was expressionless, not betraying the slightest trace of what she was thinking.

‎"Why should I work together with you? It’s your mess not mine." Rose replied, sensing the vast array of beast coming towards their direction.

‎"Because if you don’t..." Isolde smirked. "I’ll keep following after you, which means the beast will keep following after us."

‎Rose weighed the scales of refusal and acceptance for a while, before ultimately nodding her head.

‎"Fine."
