Chapter 218: The Competition 2

A/N: Here’s another release, if I get a few I’ve colas, or perhaps inspiration capsule, who knows, there might be another one on Monday ✌️.

One moment, the four hundred youths of the four races were standing in that empty hall, and a blinding flash of light later, they opened their eyes to the entire world being beneath their gaze, literally.

Why literally you ask? Well, that was because they were literally plummetting from the sky at a speed so fast that hitting the ground was the shortest way to heaven.

Not only that, but it felt like the gravity pulling them towards the ground was around five times that of Nahaar.

"AHHHHHH!"

"WHO THE HELL DESIGNED THIS SETTING?!"

"THE FUCK IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!"

Youths who were plummetting towards the ground shouted in extreme horror and panic. Some were actually shedding tears as they thought of why the hell had they agreed to represent their race.

At that point, another voice, different from the one who spoke to them before they began falling from the sky sounded.

"I WAS THE ONE WHO PERSONALLY DESIGNED THIS PHASE OF THE EXAM, LIKE THE VOICE BEFORE SAID, YOU’D KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED TO DO WHEN THE COMPETITION STARTS. AND I GUESS I NEED NOT EMPHASIZE WHAT THAT IS, HAHAHAHAHA!"

"YOU HEARD THE SEAT HOLDER, NOW START!!!" THE ASSIGNED COMMENTATOR ROARED.

While the youths were actively plummeting towards the ground, in a room where the very air and space trembled from the sheer presence of the beings contained in the room, Sevas was having the time of his life.

"I must say, I was very creative designing this first phase, wasn’t I?" Sevas asked with a grin.

"I think falling through the air alone was enough." Alexa sighed. "Did you really have to increase the gravity by five times Nahaar’s standards?"

"Why of course." Sevas grinned sadistically. "The distance between the highest point in the pocket realm to the ground, is around 110 kilometers, almost twice the distance from Nahaar to outer space. So it was only fitting to increase the gravity too."

"You do realize your daughter is amongst those falling children right?" Rhudeus, the Demon Emperor asked in a tone that bordered between indifference and curiosity.

"What? my dear Ana? She’ll be fine." Sevas chuckled. "And dare I say she’ll be the one to win this thing, we spoke about betting earlier, so bring out your bets. I recently got this bead from the ’Neverland’ Deadland." Sevas produced a glowing round bead that glowed with a powerful pulse.

"It’s related to the spirit, and absorbing it will immensely boost your children’s channeling, I was waiting to give it to my daughter on her twentieth birthday, but I guess I’d put it down as a wager."

The others didn’t argue, they could already tell the what the bead did even before Sevas explained.

"Fine then." Rhudeus nodded. "I’m willing to bet this on my offspring." He said producing blooming flower. "I guess I do not need to emphasize what this does." He said with a light smile.

"I’ll also bet on my offspring." Amon produced a black ring.

"I’ll bet on Namor." Selene, the Merfolk Empress said producing a clam shaped artifact. "My son will win this."

"I’ll be betting on my brother’s offspring." Regulus grinned, also producing another treasure. "That boy is an absolute monster."

"I’ll refrain from betting."Lucas Neville shook his head with a smile.

"So will I." Alexa said. "You all are not tricking me into putting one of my treasures on the board." She was perhaps personally the richest person in this room if you take out the wealth the of the Empires rules by the others. As long as it was personal wealth, Alexa Hargreaves stood at the pinnacle of Nahaar.

"I put the sap of the wild forest oasis as a wager." Ellaria Silvermoon, the Elven Empress said producing a small jar.

"I’ll also place a bet on Sia." A voice that surprised everyone echoed through the hall.

"Are you opposing my choice, Celeste?" The graceful Merfolk Empress turned to her daughter sitting next to her.

"What? Celeste frowned. "You can choose your son but I can’t choose my daughter?" She argued. Her mother had bet on Namor, so why couldn’t she bet on Sia?

But soon, she turned to Sevas who was barely holding his laugh. "Laugh, I dare you." Celeste threatened.

"Darling, if your threats worked on me, I’d be a submissive little mouse before you." Sevas grinned. He wasn’t the least courteous towards the mother of his child.

"Can you please not start another one of your love spats?" Alexa sighed. "We’ve had enough of those already."

"That abomination of a hybrid should not be allowed to exist, let alone partake in this convergence." Ellaria Silvermoon, the elven Empress snorted.

Sevas’s smile ceased as the space around him began to distort. "Call my daughter an abomination again, I...fucking...dare...you." He said one word after the other, as the space in the entire room began to collapse. But none of the beings in the room lifted a finger. A simple collapse of space was not nearly enough to faze them, let alone hurt them.

It wasn’t only Sevas, Celeste also looked ready to pounce on the Elven Empress.

"Fools." The Elven Empress snorted once more.

With that, the tension faded, and the wager was set. Then all Demi immortals in the room turned back to the screens.

Meanwhile, why the youths had been dazed and stunned at first, many among them, the more talented and adaptive began to act on how to reach the ground safely.

Contrary to expectations, the youths weren’t clustered together. Infact, there seemed to be a difference of over ten kilometers each between every youth.

Though, when abilities and techniques began flaring to life, the sky was painted in a beautiful cascade of colors. Bright but dangerous, or perhaps deadly.

Those with telekinesis used it’s hold on the world to anchor themselves, those with fire used their fires, and those with wind used their wind to slowly hover away.

But amidst all these, there were a few with unusual methods, and not surprisingly, they were the creme de la crop of the youths.

------------

Rose especially used her flames to conjure massive wings made of flames behind her back, which slowed down her fall massively with each flap.

A thunderous boom echoed as Levi vanished from his spot leaving only a single bolt of lightning in his wake. Instead of slowing down, he chose to dive down instead.

Aric meanwhile, employed the same tactic as Rose, shadows formed and pooled towards his back, turning into massive shadow wings.

Delilah meanwhile, took out an artifact. Normally they weren’t anything special, but at this moment they were. Anastasia had given her the boots on their way to the hall, just before they were teleported into the sky. The boots allowed one to step on air.

Mayura Silvermoon’s body phased in-between corporeal and illusory, which allowed her to slowly float down even under the effect of the five times gravity.

Ivis Silvermoon meanwhile used his ability of mass manipulation to lower his mass so much so that he weighed less than a feather.

Namor Stormborne clenched his fist and punched towards the ground. A concussive shockwave that thundered through the air spread out beneath his form, negating the multiplied gravity, thereby slowing down his fall.

Nymeria Stormborne who was falling through the sky willed it, and a sphere of dense water formed, enveloping her entire body.

Isolde Von Sanguine meanwhile, placed her palm beneath her form, and with a small poof, a gigantic Raven appeared and the demon princess fell onto it’s back.

Alistair Von Drake, simply conjured a giant golden titan construct made of hard light around himself, using it to navigate through the sky.

As for Anastasia Necron, the world around her seemed to slow down, almost pausing to a stop. Even the winds at the this height, seemed to flutter her scarlet hair ever so slightly, due to how slow the atmosphere around her had been rendered.

Watching all these youths were people all across Nahaar. When their screens had showed all the youths plummetting through the sky, most, especially the mundane who didn’t know the true scope of power, thought that the youths were all done for.

Those who had children or relatives participating were in an even worse state, with some faint-hearted people literally losing consciousness at the thought of their children being smashed into the ground. But against all odds, the youths were doing what they all thought impossible.

However, the screens soon showed two individuals who were by far the most unusual. What they were doing was absurd to say the least.

One was a demon, with black hair as dark as the night, a handsome visage, and majestic bearing. He was falling through the sky vertically, with both his arms crossed against his chest and his eyes... closed.

The other one meanwhile, was a human. And he was falling horizontally, with his arms behind his head, and his feet crossed as if taking a leisure nap. But his face couldn’t be seen at the moment, because an open book was covering his face with it’s pages to his face.

One word went through the minds of the people watching all around Nahaar.

’What were these two idiots doing?’
