Chapter 217: The Competition 1

"Is that all?" Kaal asked after Ada recounted everything she had seen.

"Yes, your highness." Ada replied.

"I see." Kaal nodded contemplatively.

"Your highness, should I take some guards and capture those merchants?" Ada asked, waiting for her prince’s approval.

Kaal however, merely shook his head. "There would be no need for that, Ada. Why disrupt a perfectly good business?" He wasn’t particularly bothered other youths knew his abilities. If anything, it would only make the competition more intresting. Besides, he was also planning on getting information on the others also.

"What I need you to do, Ada, is take a few Zeta ranked artifacts and go get me the information that you clearly were incompetent of securing, from that merchant." Kaal said, making Ada bow her head in shame.

"Yes, your highness." She replied. She truly had failed her prince.

Ada then went back to the information hub establishment, and bought all those information for her prince.

During these times, Mayura and Ivis also heard of the information hub, and so Nymeria and Namor, and they didn’t hesitate to visit it.

Soon, news spread amongst the youths partaking in the convergence of races that there was a shop selling information for one zeta ranked artifact per each individual. And from then, youths from all races began to visit the establishment.

Though there were some problems that arose due to some individual asking for information on individuals the establishment did not deem worthy to get information on. But aside from that, everything went smoothly, and the information hub counted over a hundred artifacts by the end of the day, both Zeta and Theta ranked.

"Boss, you won’t understand, I literally froze when I saw your sister before me." Khloe explained with exaggerated gestures.

"Yes, she is your splitting image." Vera added.

"Naturally." I nodded. Putting it more aptly, I was more like Rose’s splitting image actually, after all she was born first.

"Right, boss, how many artifacts did we manage to haul?" Khloe asked. "I lost count after seventy."

"Seven two Zeta ranked and thirty four Theta ranked, making it a hundred and six in total." I proudly replied.

"I hate to admit it boss, but I must applaud your intellect." Khloe said with a greedy grin.

"That’s right, praise me more." I nodded sagely. It took me almost two weeks to make those information cards using sorcery alone. Their properties were that they would disappear back to where their deck was after their contents were read. Not only that, creating those cards quite improved my expertise at sorcery.

"Boss, are you still participating in the competition tomorrow?" Vera asked.

"Why of course I am, do you think otherwise?" I replied.

"How do you plan to do that?" She asked. "Are you going to reveal yourself?"

"Why the hell do you think I’ll do that?" I asked puzzled.

"How would you do it then?"

"It’s quite simple actually." I grinned. "I’ll simply kidnap some idiot, and take his place, how hard could that be?"

I had participated in the banquet yesterday after all, and none was the wiser. I chuckled, remembering the faces of both Sia and Rose when I asked them for a dance.

My smile soon faded however as I remembered the guy I had already kidnapped. ’I haven’t fed that guy since yesterday afternoon, have I?’ I frowned. ’Meh, he’s an aetherial, he’ll be fine.’

"Why are you chuckling at thin air?" Vera’s voice broke me from my thoughts.

"Nothing." I said gazing outside through the window. "When the others are back, tell them I’d be gone for a while. And also, watch out for me in the competition." I said before disappearing from my spot.

The convergence of races this time is going to be a whole lot more exciting than in the novel.

----------

The next day in Valon city didn’t come with the rising sun, because it literally wasn’t visible due to the benches of the divine tree, but everyone instinctively knew it was morning, most especially the youths participating in the competition for the resources of the divine tree.

A select few were confident, most couldn’t even sleep the night before, and some were literally nervous down to the bone, but all still rose from their bed this morning, and began to gather in front of the respective residential buildings they’d been assigned to upon their arrival to the demon continent.

Such was the case for the humans, elves, and merfolk.

With Alistair and the others, Lyra appeared after all two hundred youths had been gathered in front of the building by Edmond and other leading figures of the humans.

"Please, come with me, children of the human race, I will lead you to the designated venue." Lyra said in a polite tone.

The human entourage followed after Lyra. However, as they moved through the streets, they were faced with jeers from countless resident demons. The demons were booing them down while singing praises of the youths from their own race.

"Hmph, unreasonable." Levi snorted.

"You can’t blame them for wanting their race to win." Aric said to him.

"Even though, that gives them no right to be jeering at us." Fabian cut in.

"I’m willing to bet that if the convergence was taking place in the human domain, humans would also treat other races like this." Aric argued.

"It doesn’t matter, it still frustrates me." Calum frowned.

"Just look at them as if what they say and do, doesn’t matter." Alistair said from the side. "The more we ignore them, the more stupid they’d look doing it."

A long walk later, they arrived at a building which looked surprisingly modern compared to the other houses in the area. It looked completely made of a concrete like material, and was large to say the least.

And while the humans approached it from the center, the elves and merfolk approached the building from the left and right respectively.

As they approached, they all caught sight of each other. However, they were led through the building through different entrances.

After walking through a long corridor, all of them eventually arrived in the same massive hall. No surprise, the demon youths were already there.

Once all youths were in the hall, the escorts like Lyra, who were assigned to the other races during their stay, all turned to leading figures like Edmond who accompanied the youths.

"The youths would have to be left here, the competition is about to begin." Lyra said.

"No problem." Edmond nodded, before turning to the youths. "Good luck." he said with a wide smile. "Show them hell."

Lizzy gave a few words of encouragement to Alistair before she along with other humans accompanying the youths left alongside the adults accompanying the youths of the other races. All followed after their escorts, leaving the youths alone in the hall.

As soon as the youths were the only ones in the hall, a booming sound echoed throughout the room.

"Welcome to the tenth Convergence Of Races, children of Nahaar."

The youths recognized his voice as Regulus Von Sanguine, the Duke of the Demon Empire, after all he was the one who was had received their entourage when they arrived in the demon continent.

Meanwhile the duke continued.

"I hope you all are not expecting me to tell you about the competition because I will not be doing so." He paused letting the words sink down in their brain.

"I’m sure some if you are probably thinking; how else are we supposed to know what to do? Well, trust me when I say this, you will know exactly what to do when the competition starts."

"Anyway, I won’t waste any of our time. As for when the competition will start....Well, why not now?"

The moment Regulus said that, a blinding flash of light erupted from the ground and enveloped all the youths. By the time the blinding light ceased, all four hundred youths were nowhere to be seen.

What the youths didn’t know, was that the moment they stepped into that large hall, they were already being broadcasted to all of Nahaar. Be it in the demon continent itself, the elven continent, Oceana, or even the human domain, they were being broadcasted everywhere. And all saw them disappear.

Meanwhile somewhere else, a total of ten individuals sat on majestic chairs. Their presence and the aura radiating from each of them was enough to distort the air just by them doing nothing but sitting there.

"I can’t believe dear good Maximus is not able to watch this from the front seat just because he was foolish enough to make a bet with me, hahahahaha." Sevas’s laugh boomed off the walls, which made cracks run along them.

"Speaking of bets, how about we make a bet?" Regulus suddenly proposed.

"It certainly will make this a lot more interesting." Rhudeus, the demon emperor remarked with a smile. "I’m betting on my offspring, Kaal will win this."

"I’m placing my best on Kaal too." Regulus said with a grin.

"Ohohoho, well then, I’ll bet on my offspring." Sevas laugh boomed again through the hall. "What about you Amon?"

"I’ll bet on my offspring too." Amon said without hesitation.

Meanwhile, the children whose fathers were gambling with, were facing a completely different situation.
