Chapter 216: Information Hub
A day after the night banquet, Kaal Von Sanguine was in his room. At this moment he was indulging in one of his hobbies, fixing and making himself immaculate in front of the large mirror plated on his wall.
However, at that same moment, this little peaceful time of his was interrupted. A short but desperate knock echoed from the frames of his door.
A frown appeared on Kaal’s face, but disappeared just as quickly. "Come in." He said flatly.
At his words, the door pushed open, and in walked his personal maid, Ada. Before the young prince could even ask her why she dated disturb his leisure time, Ada spoke fast and rapid.
"Your highness, a shop in the market is claiming to sell information about every notable candidate partaking in this convergence." She said desperately.
But even after hearing her words, Kaal’s expressionless face didn’t change whatsoever.
"There are no shortage of scammers and unscrupulous merchants looking to make a quick Knott in the capital, Ada." He said. "So you’d better have a better excuse for disturbing me when I explicitly stated not to."
"B...but, your highness, the information they’re giving out isn’t a scam. It is most certainly real, including the information on your highness, and her highness, the grand princess."
"What?" Kaal frowned. A shop selling actual information about him? How was that possible? Who even knows what abilities he processed outside of the royal family, and the few servants whose aether contract would have killed them the moment they thought of betrayal?
"Tell me more." He demanded.
-------------
Fifteen minutes ago, Ada was walking through the capital city of Valon. Though, she was doing more than walking through the city. Instead, she was desperately trying to complete the task her prince had given her three days ago, especially since today was the final deadline.
For now she was shadowing the bunch of humans from a distance, listening to whatever they were saying. She was the personal maid and guard of Kaal Von Sanguine, and also a Delta rank, so the young humans had no way of figuring out she was shadowing them, not unless she made it explicit.
Under Ada’s constant gaze, they soon reached the marketplace, and stopped before an establishment that read; Information Hub: Get your information for an artifact.
Ada dismissed the absurd name. It was obvious this was another scammer looking to make a quick Knott. However, the humans she was shadowing began speaking in hushed tones.
A girl with blue hair asked a stupid looking guy who’s hair and eyes were both brown in color.
"Are you sure this is the place?" The blue haired girl whispered.
"Of course." The stupid looking guy replied. "I was also shocked when I found out about it."
The blue haired girl and the other humans however, didn’t look like they believed him one bit. Still, they followed his lead and entered the establishment, and Ada followed after them without hesitation.
On the inside, the establishment was modest to say the least. Only two staffs sat behind a desk, both of them, two female humans.
’I should have known.’ Ada shook her head in thought. Humans have always been known to be cunning, and have a way with making money no matter the situation.
However, something happened the moment, both females laid eyes on the human customers. Both the females froze, and while they tried to mask the reason why they froze, Ada’s keen senses caught it. They froze the moment their eyes landed on another female human with jet black hair and striking grey eyes.
"Humans?" A gold haired young man in surprise seeing that the staff’s were humans. If it were in the human domain, that would be the norm, but he didn’t know there were human who lived in the demon continent.
The two however, quickly regained composure. "Welcome to the information hub, if you could wait just a second, I’ll call our boss to attend to you." One of the female humans said smoothly and politely.
However what she did next baffled Ada. The woman turned to a door behind her and yelled with all her voice.
"Boss! We need you out here!"
A moment later, a voice rang out from behind the door as a menacing demon pushed it open. "I told you to stop trying to ring my ears off, Khloe." The demon muttered in quiet resignation.
The moment the demon raised his eyes up and his gaze fell on the customers however, he also froze, albeit just for a fraction of a second, before a smile formed on his face.
"I see we have honored guest." He said moving towards the lady who had called out for him. "What information it is that you desire?" He asked in a charming tone, except that it wasn’t the least bit charming due to his menacing look.
The blue haired girl moved forward at once.
"We heard that you give out information on the candidates partaking in the convergence of races."
"For an artifact, yes." The demon replied without missing a beat. "Is that all you want to ask?"
"No, we would like information on a few candidates." The golden haired boy said.
"Well, it’s a Zeta ranked artifact for the Princes and princesses, and a Theta ranked artifact for others." The demon said with a smile.
"A Zeta ranked artifact?" The blue haired girl mused for a moment before nodding. "Fine, I’ll take all information on the princes and princesses."
Hearing that, the demon couldn’t help but chuckle.
"I think you might have misunderstood my words miss Whetstone. What I meant was a Zeta ranked artifact each, for every individual."
"What?!" The stupid looking guy this time was the one who exclaimed. "A Zeta ranked artifact? That’s daylight robbery!"
"If it’s too much for you, you are welcome to visit another establishment." The demon replied with a smile still plastered on his face.
"But before you decide to leave, allow me a demonstration." The demon spoke, and a card appeared in his hand. "Here." He extended the card towards the group with two fingers.
The golden haired young man accepted the card which seemed to have something written on it, but Ada couldn’t see it from where she was.
As he read what was written on the card, the golden haired young man’s face fell, before twisting into shock as he finished.
"How?" He let out a breath. "How do you know all these?" He asked, as the gold themed card flashed and disappeared.
"We wouldn’t be much of an information hub if we didn’t know that much." The demon chuckled.
"Alistair, what’s wrong?" A white haired woman standing next to the boy whose name Ada now knew was Alistair, asked.
"The card..." Alistair paused. "It has all my information, including my all my abilities."
"..." An explosion went off in their mind, and Ada’s. ’This wasn’t a scam?!’ They all thought.
However, before the shock could even wear off, the stunning redhead among the humans moved forward as a silver dagger appeared in her hand.
"Here, this is a Zeta ranked artifact, give me everything you have on Kaal Von Sanguine." She said extending the dagger to him.
The demon’s smile twitched at the redhead’s mention of Kaal Von Sanguine, but he quickly masked it.
"Well, thanks for your patronage, Miss Necron." The demon accepted the dagger with an unscrupulous smile, before another card, this one themed red, appeared in his hand.
The redhead collected it with no hesitation, and read out; "Kaal Von Sanguine, age 19, prince of the Demon Empire, Rank; Between Zeta to Zeta+, initial ability; Blood manipulation; limited to using the blood in his body. Zeta ability; create blood from thin air." The redhead finished reading, and the card flashed and disappeared.
"What?" he’s that strong?" Delilah marvelled in awe. What she did not say though, was that was she even fit to be called a genius before this prince? She had only reached the Theta+ only a month ago, during their expedition in the living forest deadland.
And not only her, most of them thought this way; Aric, Levi, Fabian, Rose, Calum, Sasha, and Dion.
Only Alistair and Anastasia thought otherwise. They believed immensely in their own talents. As for Elsa, she already knew she couldn’t even compare to the others next to her.
Meanwhile, Ada was frozen in her spot as she heard everything the card read. That was because every single thing the redhead had said, was... true.
How had this information peddler known this? Was there a traitor, she almost thought, but quickly dismissed that notion. With the aether contract binding the servants, no one could spill a word.
While Ada was lost in thought, the young human female with black hair asked for the information on Isolde Von Sanguine.
Once again, Ada was shocked at the precise level of information the card possessed. But this time, something else took precedent other than her shock.
"I have to report this to his highness." But first, she watched as the humans finished collecting all the informations on other princes and princesses, and other notable Individuals and left.
The moment the humans left however, the information merchant’s eyes turned to her position where she was concealed.
"You’ve been there for quite a long time, aren’t you going to come out, my potential customer?" He smiled.
’I’ve been discovered.’ she thought, instantly disappearing from her spot.
"Hahahahaha, I’ll extremely rich by the end of this, Khloe." The demon cackled after Ada disappeared.
