Chapter 213: Demon Prince and encounter with the Merfolks
For the next In a huge luxurious room, a young handsome demon with blood red eyes and shoulder length rich black hair fixed his expressionless gaze on his equally unreadable face in the mirror before him.
He stared at himself fro the next few seconds, adjusting his luxurious clothes, before turning away just in time for a maid to enter the room.
"What brings you here, I didn’t call for you, did I?" the young demon said without even looking at her.
"Your highness." She bowed. "The entourages of all three races have arrived in the capital, I have come to inform you about it as you instructed."
"I know that, Ada, I think the whole of the capital knows that." The cold tone of the young demon made the maid shrink back. "A little too late for this information, don’t you think?"
"F...forgive me, your highness." She stammered. She was the personal maid of the young demon, assigned to him since he was a child, and she knew more than anyone how much of a bad idea it was to get in his bad books.
This was the beloved son of the Demon Emperor, and the fifth prince of the demon empire, Kaal Von Sanguine.
Termed as the most talented youth of the current generation and the demon race itself in the past millennia, he had repeatedly broke many past records of other talented figures of the past, including some of the records marked by the demon Emperor himself.
In the demon Empire, there were geniuses, and there was Kall von Sanguine. Those were not the same, because Kaal existed in an entirely different realm from other geniuses.
Even when news came from the Human domain that a young man had awakened with an Omega ranked physique, Kall wasn’t fazed in the slightest. At most, he felt surprise, that was all.
He believed that Omega ranked or not, it didn’t matter, he was unrivaled in the same generation. This wasn’t just a fact, it was reality.
"You can redeem yourself only in one way, Ada." The young demon spoke, finding a majestic chair to sit down, and taking a book. "Go bring me information on the young elites of the other three races, especially about that one said to have an Omega ranked physique." Kaal said. "I want them at the earliest... in three days."
Kaal might believe he was unrivaled amongst his generation, but he wasn’t stupid. If he was all brown with no brain, he’d be dead before he knew it. So, no, Kaal wasn’t stupid, far from that actually. He believed in the saying; Know yourself, but know your enemies better.
There was nothing stopping him from gathering information on the young talents of the other races. If anything he was sure they were also doing the same, if they had any brains that was.
Also, Kaal knew he was arrogant, but he also knew he wasn’t arrogant enough to believe there would be no one with a troublesome ability amongst some of the other races.
He wasn’t the prideful type who thought gathering information on your possible enemies was beneath him.
"Yes, your highness!" Ada replied replied resolutely, glad at the chance given by her prince to redeem herself.
Ada soon turned away and headed out of the room determined to finish the new task given by her prince.
Meanwhile, Kaal watched her go out with an expressionless face, before returning to his book. He was expecting the information to be before him in three days or so.
Little did the young demon Prince know that his expectation would never be met.
------
On the same day in which the humans arrived at the capital city of Valon, under the lead of Edmond and Lyra, they toured the city for a bit, even encountered the youths of other races, though it was only from a distance, before retreating to their resting area.
The next day, however, Edmond gave the youths the freedom to tour the city themselves, so long as they didn’t clash with any of the other three races.
So, Alistair and the main casts naturally grouped together.
"Where should we go first?" Delilah asked.
"How are we supposed to know that? We’re all new to this place." Calum was quick to shoot her down.
"If you all don’t mind, I know where to go." Dion interrupted.
"Where might that be?" Elsa asked with a bright smile that almost made Dion recoil.
"I don’t know about you all..." Dion paused. "But I’ve been wanting to try the different cuisines of the demons."
With those words of wisdom from Dion, the group began to do exactly that. They went from establishment to establishment, tasting all types of cuisine, and and almost spent all of the money they had been allotted by the escorts. However, since they had aether stones, all problems was solved, after all, aether stones were a universal currency.
Their crusade was soon met with an interruption however, as they came into encounter with a group of four Merfolk, and from the look of it, these weren’t ordinary Merfolk.
Every single one of them had small fins behind their ears, and their skin looked as glossy as porcelain.
The four were evenly divided between the two genders, two ethereal young men whose features made them look like femboys stood with both arms crossed, albeit one had a stone cold expression and aura, while the other stood with a relaxed expression, a petite merwoman with ash colored hair, and a stunning young woman with piercing red eyes.
As soon as the young woman with the piercing red eyes’s gaze landed on Anastasia, her eyes lit up, and so did the other four who were with her.
"Sia!" She exclaimed in excitement, and was about to rush to Anastasia’s side when she noticed the looks of the other humans surrounding the redhead.
If she were to rush towards them, they would no doubt attack her first, and then ask questions later. So instead, she calmly walked towards Anastasia with a smile, who mirrored her own smile and also walked forward from her group who stared in astonishment.
When they finally met, the young merwoman pulled Anastasia into a hug.
"By oceana, I’ve missed you so much Sia." The young woman swore.
"By the gods, Nymeria, you’re embarrassing me in front of the humans." Anastasia whispered to Nymeria before the young lady finally left her.
"Namor, Vael, Nyssa." Nymeria called to the three behind her. "Didn’t I tell you we’ll surely meet Sia at this convergence?" she asked with a smug smile, before turning back to Anastasia.
"When mother said we were coming for this so called convergence, I knew for sure we would meet you here." Nymeria explained. "But Namor, Nyssa, and the others disagreed with me."
At this point, the young man with the stone cold expression whose name was Namor, walked towards the two.
"Hello, Sia, it’s been a long time." He smiled. "Nice to see you’re doing well."
"A long time indeed." Sia replied with a smile. "It’s also nice to see you too, and you too, Nyssa, Vael, and Oris." Sia said to the others who had also walked over.
"You’ve grown rather strong in the two years I haven’t seen you Sia." Vael, the merman with the relaxed expression smiled. "But just so you know, I won’t be like my man, Namor here, I’m not going to hold back against you."
"Yes, Sia, we won’t hold back!" Nyssa, the petite merwoman raised her fist.
While the Merfolk were chatting animatedly with Anastasia, Delilah and the others could only stare at the scene in bewilderderment.
"What the hell is going on here?" Dion muttered, his eyes moving from Anastasia to the Merfolk, and from the Merfolk to Anastasia.
After a while, Delilah finally had enough and walked towards Anastasia and the Merfolk, and the others immediately followed after her. Even someone as indifferent as Fabian wanted to hear the crux of the matter.
"Uhm, can someone tell us what is happening here?" Delilah asked, stopping just a meter away from Anastasia and the Merfolk.
"Sia, your human friends are here." Nymeria whispered even fully knowing she was heard by the humans she was referring to.
"Shut up." Anastasia whispered back. "You’re being weird."
Both sides stood, staring at each other for a while as the tension brewed, up until Delilah asked; how do you know Sia?"
"Bah!" Nymeria let out a short laugh. "Why wouldn’t I know Sia? Of course I know her, she is my..."
"Nymeria is my best friend." Sia interrupted before Nymeria could finish, hoping to diffuse the subtle tension brewing in the air.
"How’s that possible?" Dion asked with a raised brow.
"Remea and Oceana are much closer than you think, and Nymeria and I met since we were merely children, one day when she washed up on the shore." Anastasia explained.
"Yes, I will never forget that day." Nymeria said wrapping an arm around Anastasia’s shoulder.
"Well, now that we’ve seen each other, I think it’s best we go out own separate ways, then we can catch up after the convergence is over." Anastasia proposed.
"What?! Why would we do that?" Nymeria protested, but no one here her words. Nyssa grabbed one of her hands, while Vael grabbed the other. They knew Nymeria wouldn’t likely go otherwise.
Before they left, Namor turned back to Anastasia. "Are you really going to be against us in this convergence?" he asked.
"Why of course." Anastasia replied with a smirk.
"Then, I won’t hold back." He smiled back before turning away.
