Chapter 212: Arrival in D.C
Exactly an hour after the VANGUARD warship took off from the human domain, it’s gigantic mass appeared above the territory of the Demon Continent, shocking the border guards of the Demon Empire to the core.
The presence of the warship was purposely being put on display to announce their arrival. Not only that, it was so that the escorts sent by the Demon Empire could lead them to the right place by themselves.
And that was exactly what happened when the VANGUARD arrived.
A spear made of condensed blood appeared in the sky, the spear was so huge that it seemed to dwarf even the VANGUARD, and it shot towards the warship at speeds unimaginable. The spear looked as if it would tear through space itself courtesy to how the space seemed to be warping around it.
Up above, in large room at the top most part of the warship, the four Alpha rankers sat still on their chairs even as the huge blood spear approached.
"Tsk, it’s that bastard Regulus." Alexa clicked her tongue. "Doesn’t he know his buddy, maximus, isn’t here today?" She said in an exasperated tone.
"No worries..." Sevas grinned. "I’ll take care of it." he said.
After saying that, Sevas disappeared into thin air and next he appeared outside the warship.
Inside the room, Lucas shook his head with a wry smile. Sevas had always be an unruly child even back when he was at the institute. ’Some things will never change.’ The old chancellor thought.
Meanwhile, as if sensing Sevas’s exit, the massive spear of condensed blood instantly rushed towards him at nearly the speed of light.
It was so fast the sky seemed to have split by the might of that spear and the clouds were scattered by the massive air pressure.
When the spear was just a few kilometers away from him, Sevas waved his hand and the entire space collapsed, which made the spear of condensed blood crumble in on itself, and fold out of existence.
While Amon was destruction incarnate, Sevas was gravity incarnate. He was the holder of the Gravity Star Physique. Gravity bent to his will and so did his control of gravity extend to the spatial fabric. It was why Sevas was extremely powerful, and that was the reason why he dated to provoke anyone over and over again. He was just that confident in his strength.
After destroying the blood condensed spear Sevas glanced in a certain direction with a bloodthirsty smile and said in a calm tone.
"Maximus isn’t here, but I won’t hesitate to give you a beat down, Regulus."
Even though Sevas didn’t say those words too loudly, everyone present in a 500km radius could hear his voice as if he had spoken next to their ears.
Inside the ship, Anastasia smiled, hearing her father’s words. Inwardly, she was pretty proud of her father’s strength and character, not that she’d ever admit that to him.
"Wow, having a cool father must be fun. I wish my father was half as cool as that." Dion muttered, wiping a fake tear from the corner of his eyes. Aric and the others laughed at that, but what they didn’t know was that Dion really meant that.
"Hahahaha, so that coward isn’t here, lucky for him, I guess." A booming laugh followed by a mocking words echoed through the surrounding.
A handsome demon in luxurious clothes appeared in the sky about a few kilometers away. His blood red eyes locked directly on Sevas and the warship behind him.
’This is certainly is an impressive warship.’ Regulus thought looking at the VANGUARD. Not that he’d ever show it to the human race. What they hoped to achieve would happen otherwise.
"Your buddy, Maximus, isn’t here because he lost a bet to me." Sevas replied with a grin.
"A shame." Regulus grinned back. "Anyway, let me introduce myself." He said spreading his arms.
"Welcome to the Demon Continent, children of the human race! I am Regulus Von Sanguine, third of my name, and brother to the current Emperor and absolute leader of the Demon Empire, and also the current duke of the Demon Empire."
Everyone inside the warship could hear Regulus’ voice as if he was standing right beside them.
"That isn’t too much titles, is there?" Regulus asked with a grin.
After that small incident, the rest of the journey went smoothly.
---------------
Under Regulus’ escort and permission, the warship headed straight to Valon, the capital city, under the canopy of the divine tree.
"So that is the trunk of the divine tree."
"It’s so massive even from here, I wonder how big it’ll truly be when we’re before it."
"Is it really okey that the demons alone are hoarding the divine tree all to themselves?"
The divine tree was so tall that it seemed to be shouldering the sky itself on its branches. It’s golden leaves fluttered like soft flakes in the air that illuminated the world. It truly was an astonishing sight.
Even as the warship was moving closer to the distant tree, it already made everyone feel refreshed. They could all sense the aether density in the air had clearly ballooned.
Soon, they reached the capital. Regulus stretched out his arm and said in a proud tone. "Located at the foot of the divine tree and blessed by Nahaar itself! Welcome to the capital city of Valon!"
Soon, the massive warship landed in the area reserved for it right outside the capital, drawing stares of awe and admiration. The demons didn’t feel threatened by another race’s war weapon in the slightest, they belief in their Emperor and in his ability to protect them was absolute.
After it landed, all the youths and the others got down from the warship and entered the capital city through the main gate, with the Regulus, and the four Alpha rankers of the human race leading them.
The demons in the surrounding watched these powerful figures in awe, and not only them, even most humans did, after all, it wasn’t everyday that they’d get to walk together with a Demi immortal.
After they passed through the gates, Regulus’ turned and addressed Sevas.
"Which one is your child amongst these youths? I’m guessing it’s that one, the female child whose hair is similar to yours." He pointed to Anastasia.
"Of course, she is the best, and the strongest." Sevas replied without the slightest bit of shame.
"Is it?" Regulus muttered, scrutinizing Anastasia.
Anastasia suddenly felt herself being gazed at by a being absolutely beyond her life level. It lasted for but a moment before it disappeared, but she felt as if all her secrets had been laid bare.
"So she is ’the’ one." Regulus muttered placing emphasis on the, but Sevas didn’t reply, so he turned to Amon next.
"What about you, I’m guessing it’s the one with the same expressionless you have on your face." He said glancing back at Rose, but Amon was quick to intervene.
"Do not dare to look into my daughter." His voice sounded calm but Regulus’ understood the grave message within it.
As they continued walking, they were approached by several demons in flowing robes. Regulus then turned to the youths and the guests behind them.
"I’ll be borrowing your leaders for now, but my people will see you to your resting areas."
The youths looked to their leaders for confirmation, and Lucas nodded. "We might be unavailable for the next few days or so, so feel free to tour the capital in the mean time." The chancellor said. "Edmond, it’s your job to manage them."
"Yes, chancellor."
"Just don’t cause any trouble, the Elves, and the Merfolk are already here. So save everything for the competition." Regulus hurriedly added before disappearing, and he was soon followed by the rest of the Alpha rankers.
"Greetings ladies and gentlemen, my name is Lyra, my team and I will cater to your needs throughout your stay here in the demon continent." A bewitching demoness stepped forward with a smile. And so, the youths and the rest of the human entourage was left in their care.
"We’ll be in your care then, Lyra." Edmond replied smoothly.
"Where would you propose to go first, Sir?" Lyra asked. "Would you perhaps want to go to your resting areas first, or would you like to tour the city first?"
"The journey wasn’t particularly tiring, it took us but an hour to get there, so rest is not much needed. But we would like to take your of the city if possible." Edmond replied. "And please, drop the honorifics, I don’t think I’m that old." He winked.
Alistair and the rest of the youths watching that couldn’t help but gape. Especially Edmond’s own students back at the institute.
But the one mist expressive was Dion.
"I....I...is this devil incarnate trying to flirt?!" He exclaimed.
