Chapter 318: His Name
In Tanya’s dream, she saw a battle of great loss. In a battle of which, she was the bad guy. She slain hundreds and hundreds of humans with her claw and Hellfire.
But she was stopped. She was stopped by an ordinary knight in an iron suit.
He slain her and many of her kinds.
In the dream, she heard his name. The name of the faceless knight.
His name was Forus Arcus Elidius.
Tanya saw a pair of golden eyes looked down on the battlefield before she woke up.
She woke up in the restroom with many strange people standing around her. They had wings and horns like some creatures in fairy tales.
"Uh... What happened? I just saw a nightmare about someone turning into a demon."
The black cat smirked. Its deep voice echoed, "You weren’t dreaming, girl. There is a demon here. And you were once a demon, too."
"I..." Tanya remembered what she had seen in the dream and vomited. The death inside it was too much for her frail mind to handle.
The Abyssal Helmet inside Mater trembled.
"I remember now... My name is Forus."
The black cat’s pupils dilated. He used his power to watch what Tanya was dreaming about because the fingers pointed to her.
He didn’t think that he would learn about the Helmet’s true identity.
Mater spat the Helmet out. No one wore it this time. Instead, the Helmet manifested into a suit of armor with no one inside.
Tanya saw the Knight. She widened her eyes and crawled back in fear.
"You... You survived!" Tanya pointed at the Helmet.
When equipped by someone else, the armor would change based on the wearer’s power and personality. But when it didn’t, the helmet manifested its true armor.
The empty suit of armor turned its head toward Tanya.
"I remember you... You were those that invaded our world."
Tanya cried and covered her face, "I..."
She broke down in tears.
"What’s happening? How can she be a demon?" Sparrow scratched his head in confusion.
"She is a soul not of this world. But she died and was reincarnated into a resident of this world.
She’s a human alright. But her soul carried the memories and strength of a demon."
The black cat licked his lips, "From what I’ve seen. This one is rather competent. Do you want another subordinate, Bash?"
"More sisters!" The kid in the red suit raised his hands in joy.
The black cat floated to Tanya. He was about to pull her into the Prison and change her.
"No, please! Please let me go! I just want to run my restaurant!" Tanya begged. She hugged Crow in fear of the tiny little black cat.
Crow saved her once and he was very gentle. Tanya trusted him for some reason.
Mater stopped his paw.
"Hmm. You might have been a demon in your previous life. But you are a human this time. Very well. I respect your wish." The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
They left.
Sparrow leaned over to Mater and whispered, "Since when have you become so forgiving?"
The black cat rolled its eyes and didn’t answer.
Crow patted Tanya’s head, "Don’t worry now. Master is kind. He won’t force you into doing something you don’t want to.
I need to leave now."
Crow said. Tanya blushed and let go of him.
"Oh, right. I’m sorry."
Crow chuckled, "It’s alright."
The Abomination put his hands into his pockets and left.
"Wait!" Tanya grabbed Crow’s shirt. "How can I find you later..."
Crow cracked a smile. His smile was a bottomless white gap on his dark face. It was rather scary but for some reasons, Tanya found it kind of endearing.
"If destiny has a plan for us, we shall meet again."
Crow actually left this time.
He found the black cat and the other servants pressing their ears against the wall, eavesdropping on the conversation.
They immediately turned away when he arrived.
Mater and Sparrow pretended to whistle.
Solarix played with her hair. Only Evelynn shared a wide smile while looking at Crow.
"What?" The confusion was obvious on Crow’s face.
"The girl has a crush on you, Crow." Evelynn said happily.
"Really? I didn’t know." Crow scratched his smooth dark head. "Either way. She’s a human. Maybe even a demon in her past life. We can’t be together."
"Pfftt!" Mater reacted immediately. "Rank-4 is where most Chaos Users are able to freely transform their being. You think your Master can’t get you to Rank-4?
Have a little faith in me, Crow."
"Do you mean..." Crow said.
Sparrow coughed then said, "He meant that it is possible. Maybe fate does have a plan for you two after all."
Mater and the servants then went back to the festival to investigate what was actually going on. The festival was not normal.
They felt high attending the caravan. It wasn’t powerful enough to completely mind control them and they could still feel its influence.
With the Octagram Chaos Eyes, Mater saw the emotions produced by the festival were being drained into the ground by a complex Chaos Matrix.
"Hmmm... I recognize this handiwork." The black cat meowed.
Crow examined the ground on one of the empty streets. Red veins were going beneath the asphalt. He also recognized this.
"The Red Keepers." Crow mumbled.
’That’s right.’ The black cat answered telepathically.
’Isn’t they a demon worshipping cult?’ Solarix joined the chat room.
’They are. And with Tanya’s identity as a demon in her past life, Forus’s role in that war, and the Red Keepers... Do you guys think...’ Sparrow said.
The Helmet, whose name had been revealed as Forus Arcus Elidius, became much more conscious and regained a lot of his intelligence. A of that because he remembered his name.
Forus joined the chat room also.
’They are definitely linked to the invading demon in that war.’ Forus said.
’Regroup everyone. We’re going straight to the source.’ Mater said.
Mater and the servants spread out to investigate the festival.
They gathered together after finding a Chaos Link transporting all those NES to a location.
Crow turned into a crow and flew away. Evelynn and Solarix both could fly.
Bash and Sparrow couldn’t fly though. But Bash had Omnimotion by getting it from Mater.
"Aw, come on! I want to fly too!" Sparrow pouted.
"Wait until you get to Rank-2 then!" The cat threw him inside the pocket dimension inside the Dark Grimoire.
They flew away to the Red Keepers.
