Chapter 317: City of Souls
Mater found a secluded alley to summon his servants. All of them had already put on the most suitable costumes for Lieu Iana.
Crow didn’t change his clothes and still rocked the black suit with long trench coat and a fedora.
Bash still had his red suit and red mask as usual.
Evelynn wore a rather reserved long blue dress.
Solarix rocked a skin-tight leather suit with exposed back that complimented her body well.
Sparrow had a more casual suit with an open collar at the chest.
A flyer was carried over by the wind and Crow caught it.
"The Festival of the Souls?" Crow said. "There seems to be some kind of event going on, Master."
"Well, then. It’ll be a waste if we don’t take a look. Let’s go, servants!"
The black cat jumped on Crow’s back and pointed at the direction of the festival. The cat meowed loudly.
People flooded to the street in all kinds of costumes. Some wore devil masks, some with fake angel wings on them. They followed the long caravan of dancers.
Live music was being blown to the sky by the band on the caravan. People shouting and singing along to the music. And a lot of colorful confetti being thrown into the air.
A lot of confetti.
The entire festival was a collection of chaos and joyful mood. People danced away their sorrow, hatred, and regret.
"Hmm. We actually look kind of out of place." Sparrow said.
"Well then, why don’t you make yourselves more comfortable?" Mater said.
"As you wish, Master." Sparrow smiled. The pair of goat horns appeared on his head.
The winged tattoo on Solarix’s back came to life and spread around her.
Evelynn with a pair of white-feathered wings wrapped around her. She didn’t use Jean’s mask, revealing her truly angelic face of beauty.
Sparrow and Bash didn’t have anything to show off though.
For a moment, the group joined the crowd of people. They weren’t there to hunt... yet. But actually just enjoying themselves.
Evelynn and Sparrow climbed onto the caravan.
"Hey, can I sing?" Evelynn smiled.
"Of course, girl! Show us what you got!" The band member didn’t hesitate to give her the microphone.
Sparrow borrowed a guitar from one of the band members.
The two started to play a song. With Sparrow playing the guitar and Evelynn as the main singer.
Sparrow’s fingers moved through the guitar like a master at work. His fingers blurred and the strings sang the song of perfection.
Evelynn went along with Sparrow and made up a song on the spot. A song about the City of Souls and its people.
The crowd went crazy and were hypnotized by the song. They sang. They danced. And they smiled.
The black cat stood on the caravan and moved his cat butt along with the rhythm.
Inside a restaurant, Tanya finishes cleaning up the mess of one of the customers just left. She looked at the chaotic scene outside and sighed.
"They are really enjoying themselves there."
A customer fell to the ground and started to convulse uncontrollably. Tanya rushed to him.
"Someone calls the ambulance!" She shouted.
When Tanya touched the customer, red chaos shot out from him and sent her flying to the wall.
Tanya groaned in pain. She widened her eyes as the man stood up unnaturally. His eyes were blood red and his pupils jumped around frantically.
"What... Are you alright?" Tanya’s lips trembled.
The customer grabbed a knife and rushed at Tanya. The other customers and employees weren’t quick enough to stop him. The man moved like a cat.
The knife went to Tanya’s eye. She closed her eyes and braced for death.
But it didn’t come. Tanya opened her eyes to see a dark man grab the customer’s wrist.
Crow examined the customer.
’I found something, Master.’
’We’re coming!’
The customer lunged at Crow.
Crow opened his palm wide and struck the man at the chest, sending him flying backwards. The knife flipped to the air as the Abomination grabbed it.
"You’re alright, little miss?" Crow asked Tanya.
Tanya nodded in disbelief.
The man convulsed again. His body turned red.
’Hmm? Isn’t this Demonic power?’ Crow raised an eye.
Everyone rushed out of the restaurant in fear. The festival in the street continued on.
The man transformed into a demon. Horns burst out of his forehead. His claws grew longer and his teeth became sharp.
"Stop... Stop him!" Tanya mumbled.
Crow observed instead.
The man finally finished his transformation and stood up. He was a half man, half demon now.
The half demon rushed at them again.
A kid in a red suit bolted inside the room. He jumped up, grabbing the back of the half-demon and forced it to the ground.
"Who’s this?" Bash said.
Tanya trembled at the sight. "That kid... How did he..."
Mater and the rest entered the room. The black cat landed on the man. His Octagrams appeared and scanned the man.
’This man is a Psychic. His Psycho Force was contaminated by Demonic Force...’
The black cat opened its mouth and pulled all the corruption out of the man’s Psycho Force. Because of Octagram Chaos Eyes, this task was rather easy.
The man returned to normal and slept soundly.
"What is literally going on?" Tanya fainted.
Crow, being a gentleman as he was, caught her and prevented her from slamming her head.
The Abomination picked her up and went inside, finding a place for her to rest.
Mater gathered the Demonic Force in front of him.
"This thing... Why is it a little bit familiar?"
The black cat spat out the five fingers he had collected. The Demonic Force went inside the fingers and immediately changed it.
The black cat’s pupils dilated. "I understand now. These fingers are not a vessel for Chaos."
"What is it, Master?" Solarix frowned. She felt an incredible energy inside it. The type that was exactly like her.
"These are body parts of a demon." The black cat meowed.
The fingers floated to the air and pointed in a direction. A direction where Crow had gone to put Tanya down.
The servants shared a glance. They followed the black cat inside.
