Chapter 346-I Can Get Rid Of Anyone
Lara:
For the next few seconds, we ate in silence. At least, I did.
I watched them play around.
She filled my father’s plate as if he had never been fed before, like she was the only one who could take care of him.
"Daddy, there has been an issue in the pack house. Would you like to go and check it out later?" I said to my father in a loud voice so the woman sitting beside him would know that I knew far more about the pack than she ever would.
She picked up on it because she raised her head to look at us.
"Is everything okay?" my father questioned, starting to fill my plate with food.
"Yes, some pack issues. Some data-related problems. It would be better if you go and check it out yourself," I replied, continuing to eat my food.
"Yeah, sure. I’ll check it out," my father responded, not suspecting anything.
There was honestly no issue. The only issue was that I had to get rid of my father for a while.
I had to make sure he was not around when I did what I planned."So you have to leave me?" I heard Red whisper to my father, trying to be playful with him.
"I’m so sorry, baby. It will be just for a few hours, but then I will be back," my father responded, making my fingers curl tightly around my fork.
The way she was acting with my father made me so angry.
Breakfast went by just as I had expected.
She tried her best to be clingy to my father, offering him food, feeding him, and trying to start a conversation.
At first, I was angry. I just wanted to leave.
But then I reminded myself that sometimes patience gets you very far ahead.
So with that thought in mind, I smiled at their interaction, or at least forced a smile.
After breakfast, as everyone got up, my father approached me, all smiles.
"I noticed you did not hold any distaste toward her anymore," my father remarked, referring to my fake smiles and the interactions I had forced at the table.
I nodded my head, returning the same genuine smile my father had on his lips.
"Actually, seeing you two interact, I realized it wasn’t that bad," I said, glancing between them.
"I mean, at least she makes you happy, Father."
I paused, letting out a quiet breath.
"And I realized I had been so mean all this time, trying to stop you from ever being happy again," I added, lowering my gaze.
"Mother passed away a long time ago."
I shook my head slightly.
"Everybody deserves happiness, and so do you," I finished, making sure she was listening from behind as she followed us.
"Really?" my father asked, stopping in his tracks.
It was surprising for him too because I had made it very clear that I did not want my father to start a relationship.
"Yes, yes, Father. Really," I replied with a fake grin.
He stopped and pointed at me to get Red’s attention.
"Did you hear that?" he asked her.
She quickly approached us.
It was getting repetitive now, and I was getting annoyed.
"I’m so glad we are all one big family now," she commented, a huge grin on her lips.
The two shared a hug with me.
It was the most awkward hug, an unwanted touch, but I let it happen because it was part of my plan.
Finally, they pulled away, and while they were still smiling, I excused myself and went to my room.
I spent the rest of the time thinking about my plan and how I would get rid of Red and those two little snakes she had brought into our home.
Later that evening, just like I had asked my father to do, he left for work.
But before that, he decided to come to my room and place the responsibility of his new mate on me. It was really painful.
Instead of asking her to take care of me, he was asking me to take care of her as if she were a child. It really hurt my feelings.
It only solidified my plan even more.
"Please take care of her, okay, and spend some time with her," my father said, placing a hand on my head as he entered my room to speak with me.
"Don’t worry, Father. I will take very good care of her," I replied, smiling through the pain.
He gave my head another gentle pat before lowering himself to kiss it.
He left for work and I began to get ready for my plan/
My father was going to find out that someone had messed up the entire pack’s data for the day. Not just someone, but me.
I had done it on purpose so my father would stay occupied for a while.
So when dinner time arrived, Red was pretty much alone.
I knocked on her door and noticed she stiffened at my sight.
"You can come inside," she replied softly, but there was fear in her voice.
I entered the room and pretended to check on the children who were sleeping.
"They’re so small and cute," I said in the fakest tone.
She smiled while holding her children.
Thankfully, they were asleep. Otherwise, they would have started crying.
And I hated crying children.
"You have no idea what it means for us that you have accepted me and my children," she spoke softly.
I could not help but remember how cunningly she had taken my mother’s place here, and yet she stood there acting all nice and sweet.
"I figured there is no point in fighting. Anyway, my father is busy. Why don’t you come downstairs so we can have dinner together?" I offered, holding my hands behind my back and trying to sound as cheerful as I could.
As soon as I suggested it, I watched her stare at my face in utter shock.
"Really? You want me to dine with you?" she asked, her eyes wide open, making me want to punch her in the face.
"Yeah, why is it so surprising? I’m not that bad," I joked, tugging the hair behind my ear awkwardly.
She got up happily and gestured for the maids to take care of the children.
We walked downstairs together and sat to enjoy a feast.
A feast I had prepared with my own hands, adding a little love and a few sleeping pills.
Halfway through dinner, I watched her start to realize something was wrong.
I had also added a few medicines here and there to make her feel some discomfort.
She began to cough and look around.
She kept touching her throat, sniffing as if trying to understand what was suddenly making her so sick.
"Do you think the food is a bit bitter?" she questioned, not directly asking if I had done something to it.
"Oh, you mean the sleeping pills and the little drugs I added?" I asked openly, laughing as I took a bite from my own pizza slice.
That was why I had ordered food for myself.
As soon as the words left my mouth, her face turned pale.
"Did you really think I would accept you and those filthy little children as my father’s?" I asked in a bitter tone, no longer hiding anything.
Tears gathered in her eyes as she tried her best to get up, stumbling toward the door, probably hoping to call the warriors.
"They are not going to listen to you. They are my trusted warriors," I said, watching her crumble and collapse on the floor.
"What are you going to do to me?" she asked, blinking repeatedly to get rid of the tears.
"Nothing. I only added a little sleeping pill. You will just sleep peacefully," I told her, rolling my eyes at how dramatic she was acting.
"But why?" she asked, her skin turning red with fear.
By now she had probably realized she was not the one I wanted to harm, at least not yet.
"Because while you sleep, I will get rid of the ones who brought you close to my father."
My words had barely left my mouth when I saw her eyes widen.
She began to cry, shaking her head as she crawled to my feet.
"Please don’t do this. They are just children. Kill me instead, please," she muttered, pressing her palms together in front of me.
"Don’t worry. What made you think I would not kill you?" I replied coldly.
"You will be gone too if you do not leave. So this is me making my final decision."
I got up from my seat, kicked her back, and then knelt down to her level.
"You are not welcome in our family."
As I said that, I watched her eyes finally close.
Then I stood up and left to do my job, the one where I had to make a statement to my father and to any other woman who dared to come close to him again or even thought about giving him a child.
My problem had always been the same.
I did not like sharing.
