Chapter 413: The Torture
Amos was not sure what kind of magic Michael had used, but he was tremendously shocked when he saw civil items appearing in the room.
The thing that confused him the most was the fact that there was no prelude to the appearance of those items. They just appeared, as if they had been there to begin with, and he was the one who was only seeing them now.
At this point, the old man felt his heart trembling. At the same time, he wondered, just what kind of person did he offend? If he had known that this would happen, he really would have made sure to eliminate the entire familiar three, instead of just the two.
Unfortunately, with things having already reached this point, there were no ifs. It had already happened, and nothing was going to change.
Michael completely ignored Amos’ expression. He had done this intentionally, as he did not intend to start moving things from somewhere else to bring them here.
Since all these things were going to be used here, then they had to appear here. As for what this old man would think of the situation, Michael did not care. In any case, the old man would never meet any other person other than himself.
After he was done with him, Michael would obviously send him on his way to the underworld. If he could narrate what had happened here to those figures in the underworld, Michael did not care either.
He just shifted his gaze on the items that had appeared inside the room. The Neural Pain Band was a metallic band about five centimeters wide. Its inner surface was lined with soft sensor pads, while a thin strip of blue lights ran around the outside. A small wireless control unit rested beside it.
The Pressure Restraint Chair was made of steel, bolted to the floor. Since it had appeared within the room, it was directly installed here. Of course, it could be moved, but that would need some effort.
Thick padded straps were built into the armrests, waist, chest, and ankles. Small mechanical joints and hydraulic parts were hidden beneath the seat and along the frame.
As for the Sensory Isolation Chamber, it was a tall, capsule-shaped chamber with a matte black finish. The thick door was sealed tightly, leaving no visible gaps. A simple control panel with a small display was mounted on one side.
The Thermal Stress Pod was large and cylindrical, with a reinforced glass front. Cooling vents and heating units were built into the outer shell, while digital temperature displays glowed lightly along the side.
Then, the Muscle Fatigue Stimulator on the other hand was a compact machine about the size of a suitcase. Several thin cables connected to flat sensor pads that could be attached to the body. A touchscreen displayed power levels, pulse patterns, and system status.
Amos glanced at the items as well, trying to identify them. But no matter how he looked at them, he realized that he had never seen them in his life.
Being the leader of the Blood Reapers Syndicate, of course he had interacted with many people and different types of equipment. But, this was the first time that he was seeing this items.
But even then, just looking at them, he could kind of identify the function of these items, at least some of them. As he understood what Michael intended to do, his expression tightened.
He could already imagine what was coming, but no matter what, he was determined. Before he became the leader of the syndicate, he had to endure a lot during his youth.
He had faced many dangers, and this would not be the first time that he would experience tremendous pain. Therefore, mentally, he began preparing himself, while trying to numb his feelings, so that he would not end up breaking due to the torture that was bound to come.
As for trying to beg Michael, that thought did not cross his mind at all. First of all, he had his own pride. No matter what, he was not willing to beg for mercy from a young man the age of his grandson.
Secondly, as someone who had dealt with many incidences like this, he understood. Just from the fact that Michael had instructed Jackson to kill the top level members of the Blood Reapers Syndicate, it was clear that he acted above his age.
Additionally, there was already a grudge between them. He had been involved in the death of Michael’s parents. No matter the situation, there was a very low probability of Michael letting him go.
Michael did not care about what the old man was thinking about. Instead, he just stepped forward, and picked the Neural Pain Band. He then approached Amos.
Before placing the band around Amos head, he made sure to give him a warning, "If you try to resist, things will only get worse for you."
Immediately after he said those words, he placed the band around Amos’ head. Thereafter, he gazed at the small touchscreen on the side. The screen displayed the device status, and gave options for the program, session time, while also showing Amos’ vital signs.
The Neural Pain Band was designed to stimulate the brain’s pain centers without causing physical injury. It could produce controlled pain ranging from mild discomfort to unbearable agony while keeping the subject fully awake and conscious.
Michael immediately began making selections, and in just a moment, he had already decided. The moment that he confirmed for his selections to be activated, there was a faint vibration from the band.
And in the next moment, Amos began feeling a faint feeling of pain emerging within his head. It was difficult for him to be able to locate where the pain was coming from, but as time went on, the intensity of the pain increased.
At that exact moment, the previously confused Amos immediately understood what this device was for. While he was shocked, he immediately lifted his hand, attempting to remove the band from his head.
Michael had already told him that he should cooperate, or he would face something worse. But even then, the pain that was continuously increasing told him that he could not continue allowing this device to rest on his head.
But just as he raised his hand to remove it, his hand suddenly froze in the air. At that exact moment, Amos felt that there was something invisible that was holding his hand.
No matter how much he tried to force his hand forward or even to retract it, it didn’t work. It was as if his hand was frozen in the air, frozen in time, and could not move.
At this point, the pain that he was experiencing had already intensified, his expression becoming grim.
Unknowingly, beads of sweat had already appeared on his forehead, while veins had also bulged. His eyes were already wide from the pain, and he was preventing himself from screaming.
But the pain was not what shocked Amos the most. Instead, it was the fact that his hand could not move. Immediately, he identified this to be an ability of a mutant.
Because only Michael was present at the moment, it was clear that this was his ability. This shocked Amos, because he had never heard of such an ability, despite possessing quite the knowledge on mutants.
Just as he was still trying to come to terms to what had happened, while enduring the pain, suddenly, his eyes widened.
Crack!
At the same time as the sound of bones cracking were heard, Michael spoke in a cold voice, "I don’t intend to repeat myself."
"Aaargh!"
This time, Amos could not hold back anymore, as he immediately screamed from the intense pain. Michael had just used the telekinesis ability to break his hand.
In fact, the arm was broken exactly at the center of the forearm. It was such a gruesome scene to look at, especially those bones that had pierced through the skin.
The pain that Amos was experiencing at this moment was tremendous. It was not just from the broken arm, but from the pain that was continuously intensifying in his head.
In fact, it only took a few seconds for Amos to forget about the pain coming from his broken arm, and instead, scream from the pain of the headache.
He intended to use his other hand to grab his head, to try and ease the pain. Unfortunately for him, Michael had already used his telekinesis ability to lock him in place.
Apart from his head that could continuously move around, his other body parts were frozen in place. It was no different from him being frozen in ice, with only the head exposed.
This experience, it was way more intense as compared to what he had experienced during his youth. And it was exactly at this moment that he finally understood what kind of methods Michael could use against him.
The regret in his heart intensified. Of course, not even for a moment did he even think about never targeting Michael’s parents.
Instead, the old man was only thinking about the mistake that he had made. If he had known, he would have made sure to eliminate Michael as well.
Michael did not react to the screams of the old man. There was a reason why this room had good soundproofing. It was exactly for a situation like this.
And as he observed as the old man continuously shook his head, Michael finally felt his heart beginning to relax.
The pain that he had suffered from losing his parents, it began to ease. Of course, the sense of loss was still there, but at least, it was not as intense as before.
Michael watched as the old man screamed for almost 10 minutes, before he finally deactivated the device. He looked at the old one who was already drenched in sweat, breathing heavily.
"Don’t worry, this is just the start. There are a few more experiences for you. By the time that we are done, you would have such a nice time." Michael spoke with an indifferent tone.
