Chapter 318: A Solution

Michael was observing from the side as Alex and his group dealt with Jack and his underlings. Alex and the others were not holding back at all, mercilessly beating up those guys.

To say the truth, they had been frightened, especially the moment that Max took out a gun. At that point, they thought that this guy would actually shoot. After all, this was his territory, before Michael suddenly revealed that he had bought it.

Additionally, having come here for several years now, they understood that Max and his family were linked to a gangster background. Most of their businesses were quite shady, apart from this open one, the shooting range.

So, if that guy really wanted to kill them, most of them were sure that there was nothing that they could do against it.

And when Ethan showed up, the situation became even more complicated, especially considering that the guy came with many men. Luckily, Michael was here, and he was able to deal with those guys.

With everything sorted out, and being given a chance to deal with Jack and his group, of course, Alex and the others wanted to vent. This entire time, they became quite frustrated, being powerless to decide the situation.

Additionally, they felt that, if not for Jack and his group causing trouble here, maybe things would not have escalated to this point.

If they had not had the thoughts of rebellion, would Ethan have used them? So, even if they had just been used, it was because they were willing.

So, for quite a while, within the shooting range, screams and wails filled with pain and despair echoed.

By now, those that were not involved with this had already left. The moment that they saw Ethan being dealt with, and a gun being pulled out, with Michael shooting people, they were so frightened that they did not have the courage of staying here again.

As for them going to report and causing trouble for him, he believed that they would not do that. After all, they should understand that people that usually used guns in broad daylight usually had connections.

If they went ahead and reported, there was a possibility that they would be targeted. Additionally, it was clear that it was the other group that came looking for trouble, not the other way around.

But of course, if those guys decided to call the police, Michael had a method of dealing with them. The simplest one was to make sure that there was no evidence.

With him owning the shooting range, it was impossible for the police to be able to get any evidence through the CCTV footage. The only part that would be remaining would be for the witnesses.

It was obvious that Alex and his group would not say anything. As for Jack and his men, those guys, looking at the way they were receiving a beating, it seemed that they would end up in the ICU.

And if they were lucky, only to end up inside a hospital ward, and they ended up reporting Michael, Alex and the others, what evidence would they have?

Even if the entire group claimed that it was Alex and the others who had beaten them up, if they did not provide evidence, there was no way that the police would arrest them.

After all, Alex and the others could just say that there was a conflict between the two sides. And those guys, after suffering some losses somewhere, they thought that they should pin the blame on them.

Of course, while there were some reforms within the police force, it was not to the extent that it would ignore the influence of the major forces within the city.

So, unless concrete evidence was provided, it was almost impossible for the police force to be able to take action against Alex and the rest of the group.

As he was still observing from the side, his phone suddenly began ringing. Michael took it out of his pocket, only to realize that it was a contact that he had saved quite a while ago, Lina.

This contact information had been provided by Kate, during the times that they were talking. At that time, Kate had said that if Michael could not reach her, he could just contact Lina, who was her friend in the training camp.

From the information that Michael possessed, it was clear that Kate and the other recruits had already returned in the training camp.

Therefore, it was impossible for them to have phones, as they were usually confiscated, before all the recruits boarded the bus that would take them back to the training camp.

With a quick chat with Onyx through the neural relay earpiece, Michael was able to make a deduction on why he was receiving this call.

Hence, he believed that the person who was calling was not Lina, instead, it was Kate. After all, this call came directly from the training camp.

If the instructors there had allowed Kate to make a call, why would she not use her own phone?

"Hey, are you already on another break?" So, he asked, slightly surprised, wondering why she decided to call him.

And in a little while, they had a conversation, which did not end, as it seemed that something had happened on the other hand.

With plans already in place, Michael was not the least bit worried about Kate’s safety. It was not just related to the serums, which he had already bought one for Kate from the system store, it was also related to her personal safety.

He had previously arranged for a bio human to protect Kate, therefore, unless it was a situation where the bio human could not act, it was impossible for Kate to face any danger.

After ending the call, Michael communicated with Onyx, to try and gather as much information related to mutants. It seemed that the time for the exposure of the mutants was not that far.

While the government was trying to be a secretive as possible, it was impossible to be able to keep the public in the dark forever. That was especially with the syndicates and other forces gaining the mutation serums.

With mutants taking action, just like how George, who came with Bob, did, it was inevitable that this piece of information would be revealed.

Considering the fact that the two syndicates within the nation had acquired the serums, he believed that other forces from other nations had acquired the serums as well.

Therefore, it would be much better to make the preparations, and see if there was a possibility of granting old John, and his wife Rebecca, together with the other kids from the orphanage, a chance of becoming mutants.

Currently, there was not much of a problem with their safety, as they had shadow guard bio humans protecting them.

But there might come some situations where it would be impossible for the bio humans to be able to protect them. So, if they could have some ability to protect themselves, that would be better.

And as he thought about old John and the rest of the group, he eventually thought about Marion. During the few days that she had been here, the two of them got along quite well.

So, even though he did not have much of attachment towards his mother’s family, he thought, he would have to make some arrangements for some bio humans to protect them.

With the current amount of SP that he earned on a daily basis, and was bound to increase daily with each psychic clone he acquired, spending a little over 500 SP was not much of a problem.

Of course, the 500 SP was for the adaptive dermal lattice armor. The bio humans were not that expensive, costing just 110 SP, for the same model as Adrian, and 22 SP for profession-specific bio humans.

While Michael was still thinking about this, Alex and the rest of the group had completely dealt with Jack and his underlings.

After beating them up until they fell unconscious, just making sure that they did not touch the vital areas, they called an ambulance for them.

"Hey, what do you think we should tell the police if they come over?" Someone within the group suddenly asked, as the thrill of beating up Jack and his gang faded.

The moment that he raised this question, the others within the group also realized. With such a large number of people being terribly injured, it was inevitable that the police would be involved in this matter.

"There is no need to worry, just claim that they fought against each other. As for what conflict exists between them, we don’t know." Michael’s voice suddenly reached them, making many of them amazed at the idea.

"But, it will be almost impossible for the police to believe, right? And what happens if they decide to check the CCTV footage?" Alex suddenly asked, frowning slightly.

"There is no need to worry about that. I got it covered. If they want to check the footage, let them." Michael responded nonchalantly.

At the same time, he communicated with Onyx, as he had just gotten another idea. Using the appearances of Jack and his group, it was a piece of cake for Onyx to be able to create a footage involving them.

All that Onyx needed to do was to create a feed, disguising it as the footage, which would be used to replace the real footage that would be deleted.

That way, there would be evidence that it was Jack and his group who came to the shooting range to cause chaos. At that point, not to mention them being defended by the law, they would be arrested as soon as they get disturbed from the hospital.

After all, they had ’caused’ quite some damage in the shooting range, and they needed to pay compensation.

"Is that idea even viable? You know, if they check the footage, unless you deleted it and claimed that the cameras were under maintenance, we will still be dragged into this. And it will be a little troublesome to deal with it." Alex shook his head as he responded.
