The calm
It wasn't crippling though as in time things would recover. Eventually though I turned sixteen and Maya took what she had been VERY impatiently waiting for. It was a rather intense experience for her especially since I used that chance to stuff the two mythical traits into her. The suddenness of it caught her mid orgasm and blew her mind from sheer ecstasy. It was kinda cheap to all but force her towards godhood with all but a few small steps separating her from it the same as with Angel.-
I didn't regret it though. Once she got over beating me uselessly in mock anger from the surprise she also didn't mind either. It helped that she could now pluck moons out of the sky. Maybe not effortlessly but she could still do it all the same. This level of personal power all but solidified the worship of her in the eyes of the people of Athenas. I also got a bit mischievous and introduced her to the league as my goddess partner. You would not believe the sheer amount of female bandits that popped up out of the woodwork when news of her spread through the league. -
I suppose it made sense given how oppressed women typically were in bandit "culture" but it was nuts even still. Our worship was planetary at this point as most of Pandora's population had been brought into the fold as it were. Those that weren't tended to at least keep this fact private or died not so pleasant deaths. I didn't provide them ships to head out to spread the word but honestly? I didn't need to. They set up league propaganda stations that broadcast across the borderlands of this galaxy causing miniature "leagues" to pop up like weeds after rain.-
It got so bad in fact that the other corporations started to petition for me to get sanctioned for "building a private military threat". They failed on grounds that it was a cult instead of an army thus making it a religious problem and not a corporate one. It was a cheap way to dodge the issue that wasn't going to really work for long since it was known to everyone I was the one being worshiped by said cult. Frankly I didn't give a shit if the scattered "weak" bandits grouping up was making the others nervous since I was still good to go.-
Things were rather quiet other than that as my company was going higher and higher up the power scale. My friends moved on to their own interests while Maya went off on an adventure of her own. Roland and Lil finally got married and supposedly had a kid on the way while Mordy spent most of his time bounty hunting with Bloodwing. Brick strangely enough hopped on the free ride I offered all my friends to the luxury gambling moon I finally finished and named "The dragons hoard".-
He was still there taking part in the weekly gladiatorial matches I had as one of the gambling events. There were dozens of others too but he really liked being the "grand champion" or the final obstacle challengers of the gauntlet had to beat to win. It was all simulated though so the bloodsport didn't actually result in the losers dead. More than a few of these losers thought Bricks "character" model was bugged and tried to prove it by coming at the big guy in real space only to be added to the exasperatingly long list of names belonging to what he was starting to call his graveyard.-
It was a field of flowers that the ashes of these cremated fools were scattered as fertilizer. He had even started making individual name tags for the flowers with the names on them. It was a beautiful place but anyone who knew what each flower represented avoided it like it was cursed. Not Brick though, that was his favorite spot to nap when not running up a massive debt on his tab that I regularly cleared. He wasn't just indulging in the good life though as he had a whole charity up for abandoned animals that got left by uncaring owners on the gambling moon. -
It was an uncomfortably common problem really as the uber rich showed up with some animal they wanted to show off to their other uber rich friends before ditching the moment it wasn't drawing the clout they wanted. Brick had even made an attraction for children or those who just loved animals called "Brick's Bonehouse" that was basically a petting zoo with all these animals. Mordy made it a point to stop in every month to train up the new ones for gentleness. -
As it happened that place also was one of the few places that even the most callous of cruel minded people avoided. Anyone caught mistreating the animals at all "mysteriously" dissappeared and some of the not publicly available animals got an especially enriching meal. The confusing part was trying to figure out how the fuck some of these animals even got smuggled onto the traveling celestial object with the frankly obscene amount of security I had there. Threshers, Skags, venomous snails, sheep creatures and even full on cows were all part of Brick's menagerie. The craziest by far was the uncomfortably plesiosaur-like creature one had somehow gotten in.-
Moxxi ran things more or less on the dragons hoard from her always popping bar at the dead center of the roads leading to the different entertainment sectors named "Moxxi's green light". That place ended up with it's own list of dead bodies from people thinking with the wrong head and trying to get grabby on one of the waitresses or gods forbid Moxxi herself, those always left the worst messes to clean up.
