Chapter 483: The first living human to enter information layer
"Whatever. Let us go meet this Miwa down on the Origin Planet. She is still with Alissa and Juli."
"But..." Eterna still showed some hesitation. She wore a reluctant expression. "I do not want them back."
"..." Grey and Eve stared at her in bafflement.
But at the same time, Eve had a look of profound understanding as she glanced at Grey and then back at her beautiful older sister.
’She has relearned her emotions naturally over these past few years. This guy might be the reason,’ Eve thought to herself. The reluctance coming from her sweet older sister was strictly because of this human anomaly. She could tell that much.
Eve then began to give Grey a brief summary.
The original data leak happened thousands and thousands of years ago, way before Eterna ascended to her current singularity state. Her digitized emotions were violently dispersed across the starry sky. This catastrophic leak happened due to a specific individual from the Daoist Palace: Tian Yuan.
They could not accurately trace the lost data for a very long while. That was until recently, when a profound change in the laws of heaven and earth occurred, and a physical form coalesced as a result. That was Miwa.
She literally took on a mortal form!
Miwa was a unique being that maintained a direct connection to the Information Layer while possessing a flesh-and-blood human body. Grey had already studied her soul sequence. It was picture-perfectly human. At first, he thought it was some sort of high-tier information manipulation, but it turned out to be completely true!
"I should have known it was Tian Yuan," Grey clicked his tongue in realization. "Is that exactly why he disguised himself as the Prime Judicator of the alliance?"
It made perfect sense now. He was strictly here to monitor Miwa! A man so obsessed with the Information Layer that he deliberately orchestrated her physical creation.
"Well, for now, let us go see her and figure out what she thinks about all this. You do not necessarily have to forcefully merge with her, Eterna," Grey coaxed gently.
"..." Eterna stared at him with a deadpan expression, though a flicker of hesitation remained.
"I will not merge. No matter what," Eterna added stubbornly, just in case. "If I merge... I will lose the current feelings I have developed for you as my friend." Her voice was as soft as a whisper.
’Friend?’ Eve clicked her tongue in annoyance. ’Just say you like him. It is not that hard, my dumb sister. As an AI connected to your core network, I can sense your emotional spikes perfectly clearly.’
Grey sighed upon hearing her confession. He knew Eterna valued their current relationship. Forcefully merging with thousands of years of lost emotions could make her personality incredibly turbulent and unpredictable.
"Fine. Who cares anyway? You already display plenty of natural emotions nowadays. You do not necessarily need the old ones back. But starting right now, we will be giving you mandatory classes on how to actually smile."
"Okay. I get it," Eterna nodded with her usual blank stare.
A profound sense of relief washed over her system, and the heavy burden she felt in her non-existent heart finally faded away.
"Alright, folks. Let us go jump Miwa—"
"Phrasing," Eve shot him a speechless glare.
"I mean, let us go meet her," Grey nodded, coughing awkwardly.
Hence, two supreme AIs and one anomaly descended onto the mortal plane. They arrived in a luxurious training hall where Alissa, Juli, and Miwa were resting. Grey’s parents and Alissa’s parents were also there, exchanging polite pleasantries when he suddenly arrived.
"Thank you for taking such good care of my son until now, Wang Lin. To think he would be living quietly under the roof of the same legend who overtook the alliance by storm," Anderson stepped forward and sighed deeply.
"I do not think it is right for me to be considered his father anymore. He has achieved so much that I fear I might put his supreme status to shame," Wang Lin’s lips twitched uncontrollably upon hearing the praise.
Anderson chuckled helplessly. "I honestly feel the exact same way."
Melissa and Angela were warmly exchanging words as well, standing right next to Alissa and Juli.
Whoosh!
Grey, Eve, and Eterna materialized in the hall all at once. The instant they appeared, they immediately caught everyone’s attention.
"Grey... and ETERNA?!" Halfway through his greeting, Anderson choked on his own spit in sheer panic.
Although he had seen Eterna standing next to Grey before when she summoned the prototype Origin Mecha to fight Dragon Monarch, he had not thought much of it. He merely assumed she was there in an official capacity to mediate the cosmic situation. But from their casual demeanor, it was obvious they knew each other.
"I think we should corrupt the local data flow of the Information Layer over here to ensure privacy. Who is going to do it?" Eve asked casually.
"I will do it," Grey stretched his hands out lazily.
Immediately, data energy and localized Information Layer currents combined together, completely shutting off the transmission of any visual or audio data from this hall to the main network.
"You can actually manipulate data energy." Eve muttered, genuinely speechless. This man... he was without a doubt not part of the Mecha Race. Then how was this physically possible?!
"Was that an information current just now?" Wang Lin, Melissa, Anderson, and Angela wore equally stunned expressions when they saw the glowing blue code emerging directly from Grey’s fingertips.
"It is a very long story. But yes, I can kinda access the Information currents. Well, that is not exactly why we are here."
"..." The parents blinked in silence upon hearing his casual tone.
They entirely gave up trying to understand him right then and there. His powers had absolutely zero logic applied to them!
Just as they were about to speak, Grey interrupted, his eyes locking onto Miwa, who was currently staring at Eterna with a completely bewildered expression.
"A very familiar sight, is it not?" Grey asked with a small smile as he pointed at Eterna. "Come formally meet your twin, Eterna."
"Huh?!" Everyone in the room gasped strangely, including Juli and Alissa.
They looked rapidly between Eterna and Miwa and completely froze. They looked almost exactly identical!
"I... I do not mean any harm. I... I had my deep suspicions, but it is clear now." Feeling the heavy gazes of everyone in the room, Miwa trembled nervously. "I was created out of my own will and let out to roam the starry sky without anyone to guide me. I only know I was created by a terrifying man with no fate. He strictly instructed me to grow stronger, gain higher control over the Information Layer, and once I reached the 6th Rank, he would come back to pick me up."
"Do not be so scared," Eve sighed. Miwa looked like a terrified rabbit right now. "I am Eve, the Evolutionary AI of the alliance. If this brute over here scared you, then do not worry. He is not the type to kill someone over small matters. Actually, never mind. He eliminated the entire Dragon Clan yesterday..."
Eve sighed again. She tried to make things better but only made the atmosphere vastly worse.
Eterna remained silent, staring intently at Miwa, letting Grey and her eccentric sister handle the talking.
"Hey, the Dragon Clan was a pretty serious matter," Grey glared at Eve.
She just stuck her tongue out at him mischievously.
"I... I..." Miwa could not speak properly anymore. These three terrifyingly powerful beings were questioning her, and she lost all her idol confidence.
"So let me get this straight. Tian Yuan artificially created you, and you did not even know you were once a lost part of Eterna. He just ditched you into the alliance and left, promising to come back when you reached the 6th Rank?" Grey summarized.
"I was created by Tian Yuan?" Miwa was stunned, as were the others in the room.
"Grey... do you mean... that Tian Yuan?" Anderson asked, his face pale.
"Yes, that guy," Grey tilted his head and confirmed. "He is a man deeply obsessed with the Information Layer. He travels around other realities creating bizarre evolutionary paths in hopes of forging a human that can enter the Information Layer. Miwa is the direct result of that project, and he actually managed to succeed."
"Miwa can enter the Information Layer naturally, exactly like the Mecha Race and the AIs," Grey finished his sentence, prompting everyone to turn their heads back toward Miwa in pure disbelief.
"I do not know anything..." Miwa spoke defensively, taking a step back. "I really do not. I had absolutely no idea I had any connection with Tian Yuan." She looked away, her eyes filled with fear.
"Do not worry, we are not going to eat you," Grey said speechlessly. "We just wanted to formally clarify some things. If you do not know anything, then do not worry about it. We already thoroughly reviewed your personal server in the Information Layer. We did not find anything malicious or suspicious."
"You are safe here. But I believe you have the right to know your true origins."
"You were once a piece of leaked data from Eterna’s core servers. Tian Yuan forcefully took it, and several years later, through some profound means of heaven and earth, you took on a human form. You are practically a flesh-and-blood human now, just with immense AI capabilities."
Juli and Alissa looked at Miwa in profound dismay. They had never really pushed to ask for her background until now, but to think it was something this insanely complicated. They never saw this twist coming.
"What does that mean for me...? Mister, am I free to live on my own?" Miwa could not help but ask. Her identity was incredibly ambiguous now. Would she be forcefully sent to the alliance labs for testing?
"You do not need to worry," Eterna finally spoke, her voice calm and devoid of malice. "Live the life you want. No one in the alliance will dare to stop you. I have already transcended my previous self to reach a singularity state. I no longer have a physical or emotional need for you, nor does the alliance need to reclaim you."
"Besides, there is an even bigger monster standing right in front of you," Eterna pointed at Grey. "Grey was the first ever living human to enter the Information Layer and successfully place down a spiritual conduit identical to that of an AI, and he could not care less about the implications."
"If they were to ever forcefully dissect someone for research... he would definitely be first in line."
"The first living human to enter the Information Layer...?" Everyone muttered, falling into a collective daze as they stared blankly at Grey.
