Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes

Chapter 629: Decision

The young madam’s breathing became heavier.

Lana continued, "And while that process was taking place, you were responsible for taking care of it. All the negative energy that accumulated throughout this mansion was then used to nourish and strengthen that little devil."

When Lana finished speaking, the young madam’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"Impossible. There is no way that could be true, but..."

Her voice abruptly stopped.

The contract had indeed been written on justice paper. It had appeared fair, almost as though both sides were receiving something of equal value.

But if what Lana had just described was the actual agreement, then the contract had been equal by its own twisted rules.

The young madam took a deep breath and turned toward Lana.

"Very smart. That bastard is very smart."

Lana chuckled. "He is not smart. You were simply too desperate."

Her expression became colder.

"And you should understand something else. The reason your daughter ended up in this situation in the first place is because he was the one behind it."

For a moment, the young madam stood completely stunned. Then her gaze slowly shifted toward the vase.

She raised a trembling hand and pointed at it. "This vase... This vase..."

She could not finish her sentence, but Lana understood what she was trying to ask.

Lana sighed.

"Indeed. It was the vase that was given to you by that monk who claimed that your entire household was suffering from bad fortune."

The young madam’s eyes widened. She immediately shook her head.

"How is that possible? That monk was someone my brother trusted."

Lana gave a faint chuckle.

"Well, then, that means even your own brother was being deceived by someone he trusted, or he was deceiving you all along."

The young madam’s expression changed. "Why? Why would my younger brother want to harm me?"

Lana remained silent.

’How would I know why that man would want to harm his own sister?’

She could not give an answer when she herself had no idea what had motivated the woman’s younger brother.

Therefore, she simply continued channelling her mystical energy into the vase.

The young madam, however, seemed to have thought of something.

By the time Lana finished speaking, the young madam was still lost in thought. Lana calmly looked at her and said, "Since you have to figure things out, I am going to take my leave first."

At the literal level, the young madam’s form had already disappeared completely, but she suddenly stepped forward and blocked Lana’s path.

Her expression was heavy with hesitation as she said, "Can you help my daughter be reincarnated here?"

Lana chuckled softly and replied, "I have already done that. You were too lost in your thoughts to notice."

The young madam nodded slowly, but after a brief pause, she looked at Lana again and said, "Can you help my husband see me one last time? It has been such a long time. I wanted to say goodbye to him."

Lana gave a faint nod. "All right."

With that, she walked down the stairs and used the landline to call Rick. When Rick arrived, it was already three in the afternoon. The moment he entered and saw Lana, he looked at her with a questioning expression.

"You said there was something important. What is it?"

Lana looked directly at Rick and said, "Your daughter is dead."

The moment those words left her mouth, Rick’s eyes widened in shock. Before he could accuse her or demand an explanation, Lana calmly flicked a third eye talisman on him and said.

"Turn around and look behind me."

The instant Rick did so, his expression changed completely. He suddenly found himself able to see the young madam, or, to be precise, his wife, standing beside Lana and looking at him with tears glistening in her eyes.

Rick froze for a moment before quickly running toward her. His hands reached out instinctively, but the moment his fingers passed through her body, his heart seemed to sink. He could not touch her at all.

His eyes brimmed with tears as he stared at his wife. "You are here? It has been such a long time."

His wife sobbed softly and nodded. "It has indeed been such a long time."

Rick completely broke down. Tears streamed freely down his face as he looked at her.

"I was waiting for you. I kept hoping that you would visit me in my dreams, but you never appeared. Why did you do that to me? Do you not love me anymore? I love you. I miss you so much. I feel like I am falling apart. I wish I could have been with you. I wish I had died instead."

The young madam’s eyes filled with tears as well. She reached toward him, though she knew her hand could never truly touch him.

"It is all right. You have to live a good life. If you do that, I will be happy."

She paused, her voice trembling slightly before she continued, "Fight for someone and live a better life. That is what I want for you."

Rick fell silent.

He could not bring himself to tell her that he had already been planning to become a monk and dedicate the rest of his life to helping other people overcome their pain.

Instead, he listened as his wife continued speaking to him, and soon the two of them began having the conversation they had been denied for so many months.

Lana, on the other hand, quietly left them alone.

After some time, she returned when she received Rick’s signal. By then, he looked much better. There was still sadness in his eyes, but the overwhelming grief that had consumed him earlier had faded.

When Lana saw him, she smiled faintly. "Have you talked things through?"

Rick nodded. "We have."

He then looked at Lana with gratitude in his eyes and said softly, "Thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, I would never have got the chance to talk to my wife again."

Lana waved her hand dismissively. "It is a small matter. It was my pleasure."

She paused before asking, "Now that everything is over, can I begin the reincarnation process?"

Rick nodded and stepped aside, though his eyes were filled with reluctance.

Lana closed her eyes and began chanting the purification and reincarnation mantra. After a while, she finally stopped. "Done."

She opened her eyes and formed several hand seals.

The next second, the young madam’s body began to slowly fade away, dissolving into faint particles of light that drifted through the air like dust caught beneath the sunlight.

Before she disappeared completely, Lana suddenly caught a glimpse of her next reincarnation. Her eyes widened in surprise.

She turned toward Rick, who noticed her unusual expression and looked at her calmly. "What happened?"

Lana clenched her fist. She opened her mouth as though she wanted to say something, but then she closed it again and smiled brightly.

"Nothing. Just continue living however you feel is right."

With that, she turned around and walked out.

She had already dealt with every problem concerning Rick and his family.

As Lana disappeared from sight, Rick watched her back and quietly murmured, "You know, don’t you?"

During the next two days, Rick seemed unusually energetic.

He first dealt with his daughter’s funeral arrangements.

He even specially invited Lana to help him find an appropriate cemetery location and determine a suitable place where both his daughter and his wife could eventually be buried.

Once everything had been arranged, he willingly donated half of his wealth to charity.

The other half was distributed among the maidservants and the other important people who had remained by his family’s side over the years.

Finally, on the third day, he asked all the servants and maids to leave.

The head maid looked at him with concern. "I do not want to leave. I want to stay behind."

Rick chuckled softly. "If you do not leave, how will I be able to relax?"

The head maid remained worried and hesitated before asking, "Sir, are you thinking about something?"

Rick simply waved his hand. "It is nothing. Please give me some time. I will come around."

The head maid sighed. She thought that perhaps he truly needed a day to calm down and process everything that had happened.

Finally, on the fourth day, she returned to the mansion.

She walked toward the living room and found Rick sitting motionless on the sofa. In front of him, the television was playing an old recording of his wedding to his wife.
