Chapter 627: Dead
The young madam had most likely never donated one of her internal organs to her daughter. Instead, the little girl had contracted some kind of terrible disease that would gradually shorten her lifespan.
In her desperation to ensure that her daughter could live longer, the young madam had most likely made a deal with some kind of ghost or devil.
The price of that deal had been her own life. However, the price had not ended with her death.
Her daughter’s body had become occupied by a demon, allowing the little girl to continue living far beyond the lifespan she should have had. Of course, there were conditions attached to such a deal, and Lana now understood what one of them was.
Even after sacrificing her life, the young madam had been forced to continue taking care of her daughter.
She had become the very ghost who prepared food for the little girl, played with her, and watched over her.
The terrifying part was that she did not even seem to realize that she was serving a demon.
Lana watched silently as the madam eventually disappeared with the devil inside the girl’s body.
The next second, the little girl’s eyes rolled back, and her body suddenly went limp. Blood began spilling from various parts of her body, staining the sheets beneath her.
Lana immediately understood that using healing light would be pointless. ’She is already dead.’
The little girl had died at the exact moment her mother had died.
Everything that had happened afterward had merely been an unnatural attempt to stretch her remaining lifespan.
After understanding the threat, Lana decided that confronting it directly would be reckless.
Instead, she remained patient and waited, allowing Mayra to investigate the mansion on her own.
All this time, Lana had deliberately let Mayra roam through the mansion and search for the source of the evil energy.
Eventually, Mayra appeared in front of her with a vase in her hands.
She carefully handed it to Lana and said with a grim expression, "Master, the evil energy inside this vase is far too abundant. If I am not mistaken, prolonged contact with it would most likely shorten a person’s lifespan."
Lana did not respond immediately. Instead, she reached out and touched the cold surface of the vase before slowly closing her eyes.
The moment her fingers made contact with it, a vision appeared before her.
She saw the happy family of three who had once lived in the mansion. At first, everything seemed peaceful. The house was filled with laughter, warm meals, and the soft footsteps of a family that had no reason to fear the future.
Then the vase arrived.
After that, their lives slowly began to unravel.
One by one, the members of the family began losing their health. The little girl was the first to suffer. She started experiencing severe aches throughout her body, and soon, even the simplest movements became painful for her.
When the doctor examined her, his expression immediately became grim.
"Her body is failing. Her organs are gradually shutting down, and there is almost nothing we can do to stop it."
The news shattered the young madam.
There was hardly anyone in the family who could save the girl, and the helplessness of watching her daughter deteriorate slowly pushed the woman into despair.
She became withdrawn, barely eating or sleeping, while the fear of losing her daughter consumed her every waking moment.
Then, one night, the vase showed her a dream. In that dream, the young madam stood before a terrifying devil and entered into a contract with it.
When the dream ended, she believed she had finally been shown a way to save her daughter.
’If I make this contract, my daughter will survive.’
Driven by desperation, she followed the instructions she had seen in the dream.
In the end, she lost her own life.
The little girl eventually lost hers as well, while the remaining family member, Rick, who rarely visited the house, somehow survived.
The vision disappeared. Lana slowly opened her eyes and stared at the vase with a deep, solemn expression.
’So this was the source of everything.’
She immediately began channeling her mystical energy through the vase.
Far away from the mansion, deep inside a secluded cave, a completely different scene was unfolding.
Numerous people were kneeling on the ground, their heads lowered respectfully before a white-robed man.
Suddenly, the white-robed man began coughing violently. Blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. The people kneeling around him immediately became anxious.
"What happened? Are you injured?"
"Why are you coughing blood?"
The man did not answer.
He continued coughing as more blood stained his white robes. His previously calm eyes gradually became darker, and an ominous aura began spreading through the cave.
He eventually raised his hand. At that exact moment, the little devil who had been playing beside the young madam suddenly stopped.
Its expression changed. It seemed to have sensed something dangerous.
The little creature immediately rushed toward the room where Lana was. The moment it saw Lana channeling her energy into the vase, it became furious.
"What are you doing?"
The next second, a violent wave of evil energy shot toward Lana. However, Lana did not even bother to dodge.
Mayra immediately stepped forward and intercepted the attack, while Mr. Crow joined her and began dealing with the little devil.
The young madam, meanwhile, frowned and hurried toward her daughter’s room.
She looked at the little girl’s body and froze. The girl’s chest was completely still. There was no breathing.
The young madam’s expression gradually twisted with disbelief before turning into fury. She immediately turned toward Lana.
"What did you do to my daughter?"
Lana calmly looked at her. "Your daughter was already dead."
The young madam’s eyes widened. She desperately shook her head.
"That is impossible. I saw it with my own eyes. She was alive."
Lana’s expression remained calm.
"You thought that by making a deal with the devil, you would be able to extend your daughter’s life. However, the reality is far more horrifying than you imagined."
