Chapter 448: Vermilion
" Vermilion." She whispered his name nervously then took a deep breath and calmed herself.
She walked to the kitchen and he didn’t stop her, she made tear then sat down opposite him.
" I’ve lost the lord title it seems." He responded with a small smile, his deep red eyes seemed to pierce until her soul.
" You know, it was a good plan you had back then, sending me to another world then closing the gate.
That world you sent us, its power limit was merely level 5, the essence was too thin, if your idea worked, we never would’ve grown any further." He started laughing.
" You’ve always been intelligent and calculating my dear Alya, that’s why I liked you.
Unfortunately, even you couldn’t see what happened next did you, you didn’t expect the entire universe to merge into a single continent.
That was a surprise to me too, a pleasant one if I might say. So tell me my dear Alya, why did you betray me?" The question hung in the air.
" Betray? Who told you I was ever on your side? The man I served died a long time ago, or perhaps he never existed to begin with." She answered.
" Is that so, so everything we went through was you pretending?"
She shrugged, " Wasn’t it the same for you? You still have they fake smile that made me believe you ever cared, I was truly foolish."
Vermilion didn’t disagree, she was telling the truth, from the very beginning, he never cared about any of them.
Even right now, he didn’t care about any of his subordinates, the only thing he cared about was himself, they were mere tools to him.
" I wasn’t lying by the way." She whispered with melancholy, " At first, I truly believed in you, I was truly loyal but overtime I came to see your true nature.
You’re too obsessed with power, you’re narcissistic and selfish to the extreme, I couldn’t believe in something like that."
Vermilion’s smile still didn’t disappear, he took a sip of tea then placed the cup down. " Is it not to your taste? She asked.
" No, it could be my new palate, I have developed a taste for something else over the years, it it could be the poison." He answered calmly.
She didn’t bother denying it, " Dear Alya, did you truly believe such weak poison would have any affect on me?"
She shrugged, " It was worth a try, now tell me Vermilion, why are you here?" She asked, her eyes turned cold.
Vermilion’s smile grew wider, " That’s very hurtful, can’t I come to see an old friend?" She didn’t respond to that.
" Fine, I’m here to claim your ability, not many have comprehended the law of space, I know that bitch has.
From what I’ve heard, she hasn’t just comprehended a sub law of space like yourself but the supreme law, the very essence of space.
Unfortunately, she’s quite guarded, getting to her won’t be easy, you on the other hand." His smile turned into a cruel grin.
" I see,I’m assuming your experiment became a true success, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to steal the laws of others.
But what happens if I just scream or teleport away, from what you’ve said, you haven’t comprehended the law of space yourself, you’re sure you can keep up?"
He looked at her calmly but he didn’t answer, instead he released his aura and for the first time her expression changed.
’ Creation realm? How in Pangera did his power grow so fast?’ she was a bit envious and a bit scared.
’ I don’t think even those two would be his much now, this isn’t good.’ a thousand thoughts ran through her head in a split second.
" I’m quite envious." She responded and took a sip of her tea. Vermilion folded his legs over each other and leaned closer.
" You could always just join me, I’ll welcome you with open arms regardless of your past transgressions against me."
She shook her head, " Tempting offer but I think I’ll be fine where I am." She answered, he didn’t seem disappointed though as if he had already expected that.
" You’re going to lose you know, the heavens are going to fall and all that will remain is the void."
" So you’ve chosen to become a fallen to save yourself?" She asked, her eyes turning colder.
Vermilion laughed, " Fallen, on the account of your ignorance I’ll forgive that insult but don’t compare me to those dogs.
I’m not a fallen nor am I being of heaven or void, I am me, the first of my kind, a being of both and neither.
I will create a domain of my own within the void where I will rule as the sole ruler, unchallenged by even the void itself."
" Those are bold claims, you have grand dreams Vermilion but how exactly do you intend to achieve that? You don’t seem to be at that standard yet?"
She asked, Alya understood Vermilion above anybody else, he was more egoistical than anybody she’s met.
She was interrogating him and even if he figured that out, his ego won’t allow him to not answer.
He want people to know his achievements, he wants others to know how smart and strong he was.
The fact that he did for so long was impressive on its own but she was certain it won’t be long before he reveals himself.
Vermilion knew that as well but he didn’t care, Alya was right, he had a massive ego and it forced him to play along so he responded.
" Yet, I’m not at that level yet but did you know, Gods can create something’s called domains.
Basically, they’re like separate worlds tailor made for the gods themselves, as long as I reach Godhood before everything crumbles, I’ll be fine.
So how about it, will you join me if sink with this ship?" He asked, she could see the confidence in his eyes.
She sighed, " You’re still as ignorant as ever, you can never see the big picture because your eyes are only on yourself.
Sinking ship? Who told you that? This ship will stand Vermilion, through every storm it will stand.
Because unlike you, this ship has a lot of passengers with a will of steel, those two for example.
I know you’ve set them as your bar for a very long time, understandable considering how many times you lost to them.
The thing is Vermilion, you will never and I mean ever, amount to a fraction of what they are."
His smile disappeared for the first time, " So be it." He responded and revealed two sharp fangs.
