Chapter 741: NASM - 741
"Ouch, seriously! I can’t believe how complicated these instructions are. I’ve been staring at them for ages and I still don’t understand how to play at all. It looks like it’s going to take way more time to figure out than I thought. I guess we probably won’t even get to play tonight!" Hiroshi muttered to himself, throwing the manual down onto the bed with a frown.
He slowly got up and walked over to the window, looking out at the night view. As he stood there, his mind drifted back to memories of last winter back in the Hidden Leaf Village. Those really had been such happy times.
"I don’t know why it is, but whenever it snows, the air just feels so fresh and clean. It gets freezing cold, of course, but there’s just so much fun to be had. Having snowball fights and building snowmen... that kind of joy is really hard to compare to anything else!" Hiroshi thought to himself.
"I wonder what this winter will be like. I definitely have to go back to the village for New Year this time. I really want to get together with Uncle and Aunt again. It’s been way too long since I last saw them. And as for tomorrow... we’ll head out to the Lake of Mirrors first thing in the morning. It’s probably going to be packed with people already, so we really need to get there early!" he continued thinking.
Hiroshi found a chair nearby, pulled it over to the window, and sat down. From here, he had a perfect view of the street below. It was still incredibly bright outside, and there were still crowds of people walking back and forth everywhere.
"This village really is like a city that never sleeps. It’s so bright even at night. And if I’m not mistaken, they probably keep the lights on all night long without ever turning them off. It actually reminds me a lot of some cities back in my old world. But of course, this is the world of Ninjas, and you really can’t compare it to modern times at all!" he mused.
He just sat there gazing outside, his mind wandering off to all sorts of different thoughts. He had completely given up on trying to understand the game manuals now. Since he couldn’t make heads or tails of them no matter how hard he tried, he decided it was better to just let his mind wander freely.
"It really is true, isn’t it? I need to travel more often. Only by going out and seeing the world can you truly understand what it’s like and broaden your horizons!" Hiroshi said softly with a smile.
"Speaking of which, I still wonder exactly what the Lake of Mirrors is really like. Is it truly like the legends say? So clear that you can see right down to the bottom, and your reflection is perfectly sharp like a mirror? If that’s true, it sounds absolutely amazing. Though I honestly didn’t think water could be that clean and clear anymore!" he thought.
"Actually, back in my original world, there were barely any lakes like that left. Most of them were polluted or dirty. Thinking about it now, the environment back there really was in pretty bad shape compared to here. The air here is so much fresher and cleaner!" Hiroshi said quietly.
It was true. In his old world, pollution was a huge problem. There was smog and haze all the time, and the world had developed so much that nature had suffered. But here in this world, there was no heavy industry or anything to cause pollution, so the air was pure, and the rivers and streams were crystal clear.
"I find myself liking this world more and more every day. Honestly, compared to where I came from, I prefer it here so much more. There are so many amazing things here that didn’t exist back there. And most importantly, I have my family and the person I love right here with me. If someone offered to send me back now, I honestly don’t think I would want to go!" Hiroshi thought, glancing briefly towards the bathroom door.
However, his expression darkened slightly as another thought crossed his mind. In less than four years from now, he was going to face an incredibly powerful enemy. He had to find a way to defeat that enemy, or else the whole world could be destroyed. If that happened, it would be too late for regrets.
But right now, no matter how strong he was—even though he was already one of the most powerful shinobi in the Leaf Village—he knew he still wasn’t strong enough yet. He still had no idea exactly how powerful that future enemy truly was.
"Ah, forget it! I shouldn’t worry about that right now. I just need to focus on getting stronger. I believe that in these next four years, my power will grow even more tremendously. And being out here travelling is perfect for that; I can learn all kinds of things and techniques that I never would have found just staying inside the village!" Hiroshi thought firmly, looking up at the starry night sky.
He had decided not to tell Harumiko about this future threat yet. He didn’t want her to worry or be afraid. If he told her now, it would only cause her unnecessary anxiety and might even have a negative effect on her.
