Chapter 350 - 346: The Unbearable Betrayal (2)
"Ah, Miss Smith, why are you crying?" Sophie Smith’s tears kept falling uncontrollably, and she didn’t even realize it herself, only staring blankly ahead.
"Miss Smith, what’s wrong? You scared me. I’ll call Master back right away." Nanny Garcia said this and immediately went to get the phone.
"Nanny Garcia, I’m fine." Sophie wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, forcing a smile at the corner of her mouth.
"He’s busy with work, don’t let him get distracted."
She knew that when she needed him, he would appear immediately. But now, she didn’t deserve his kindness.
...
"What’s this?" Asher Land looked coldly at the USB drive Robert Williams had placed on the desk, frowning and asking.
"President Land, you’ll know once you see it."
"Why are you playing coy with me?" Asher Land suspiciously observed Robert Williams, who had been acting quite odd the past couple of days.
"It’s about who stole your company’s secrets. Spend a few minutes checking it." Robert Williams completed his statement, and Asher Land reached out to take the USB drive, inserting it into the computer and opening a video file inside.
But, the scene in the video...
Was his study.
He fiercely closed the laptop.
"President Land..."
"Get out!" He nearly shouted these words.
Robert Williams said no more. If the boss wants to deceive himself, there’s nothing he can do.
Robert Williams walked out, closing the door behind him, leaving the spacious office in a deathly silence.
He remained silent as time quietly slipped by, but his hands seemed bound by something, unable to open the laptop.
His thin lips pressed tightly into a line, his expression steely and his eyes slightly red, like a wounded leopard.
It wasn’t until after some time had passed that he reopened the laptop.
Some cruel truths cannot simply be avoided by trying to escape.
On the screen, he saw her walking in with a cup of coffee. If he had been a bit more attentive back then, he could have noticed something unusual about her: her trembling hands, her nervous speech.
He took her coffee without any reservations and tasted a sip.
Then, ...
He fell down.
Later, she pushed open the door, turned on his computer, and copied some files.
He closed his eyes in despair.
"President Land." The unaware secretary walked in, placing a cup of coffee in front of him.
Coffee?
He looked coldly at the still steaming cup of coffee, a surge of anger rising within him, and with a flick of his hand, he spilled the coffee onto the floor.
"President Land, what’s wrong with you, ..." The secretary trembled, unsure of what she had done wrong.
"Your hand..."
The scalding coffee left a red mark on his hand.
"Get out!"
The secretary couldn’t even clean up the fragments on the floor and hurried out of the office.
Outside the office, some people heard the commotion and gathered around. Seeing the secretary looking frightened, they couldn’t help but feel sympathetic.
"President Land has been in a bad mood lately, so you all need to be careful. The way he lost his temper just now really scared me." The secretary spoke with lingering fear.
"Did you do something wrong? Logically, President Land wouldn’t get angry at you for no reason, right?"
"I didn’t do anything, just brewed a cup of coffee, ..."
The crowd exchanged glances and dispersed with sighs.
Recently, the entire company has been on edge due to the Hush Sky incident, and perhaps the boss has also become agitated because of this matter.
