Chapter 259 - 255: There’s Something to Ask Him (Part 1)
Sophie Smith received a message from Wyatt Sterling. He said the movie he’s producing is already in the shooting phase, and asked if she could be the lead actress in it.
She had promised Wyatt Sterling, so she wouldn’t go back on her word.
Wyatt Sterling was transitioning from in front of the camera to behind the scenes, which surely required a lot of time and effort, so she should definitely support him.
She called him back and promised she would definitely take the role.
However, there was one more thing troubling her—how was she going to explain this to Asher Land? He was sure to find out about her taking this role from Sister Sunny, so it was best not to find any excuses to hide it from him.
She thought about it and decided she should return to the Land Family first. She thought, if she could appeal to his emotions and logic, he might agree, right?
She drove back to the Land Family estate and parked the car in the garage. As she walked out of the parking lot, the maid trimming the flowers slightly changed her expression upon seeing her, and even a few others were whispering to each other from a distance.
What happened? Wasn’t it just one night that she didn’t return to the Land Family villa? The maids’ expressions seemed as if some earth-shattering event had occurred.
She didn’t think much of it; she returned to the Land Family for a serious discussion with Asher Land. She quickened her steps towards the villa hall.
"Hey, do you all think anything happened between Miss Irene and the young master last night?"
"Only the two of them would know for sure, but judging by how sexily Miss Irene dressed last night, any man would likely not resist."
"But I saw Miss Irene standing outside the door all night; maybe the young master didn’t want her and kicked her out?"
"No way, does the young master really not have any intentions towards Miss Irene? I believe they definitely had a thing last night..." A maid’s voice sounded unusually confident.
"Oh! Miss Smith, you, why are you back?" A maid turned around and saw Sophie standing behind her.
She heard their gossip clearly, but she pretended not to notice, her mouth twitching slightly.
"Miss Smith, are you looking for the young master? He’s not up yet..." The maids lowered their heads, not daring to look her in the eye, speaking in a very quiet voice.
Not up yet? Could he have exerted too much effort in bed last night?
She gave a cold laugh, initially wanting to leave with dignity. But then she remembered she still needed his consent to take Wyatt Sterling’s film role...
She bypassed the gossipy maids, turned, and headed upstairs to the master bedroom.
She took a key from her bag and opened the master bedroom door.
Fortunately, she did not find another woman on the bed where she usually slept with him.
Asher Land heard the noise and opened his eyes. Seeing her, his eyes showed a slight hint of surprise.
"Didn’t you say last night you were working out of town? Why did you rush back so early?" He sat up from the bed, baring his muscular upper body.
Sophie didn’t speak. She wondered whether the maids’ gossip from last night was true—did he really sleep with Irene Morton?
"Looks like you can’t stay away from me even for a moment. You look terrible, you must have been tossing and turning all night," he said with a wicked smile, hands behind his head, lazily observing her with amusement.
"Sorry, I slept perfectly fine last night." She also smiled, though the smile felt quite forced.
