Chapter 258 - 254: A Bold Decision (2)
Irene Morton felt somewhat embarrassed by Asher Land’s cold sarcasm. She had spoken so clearly, yet he still had no feelings for her at all, and suddenly a deep sense of frustration welled up in her heart.
If it had been Sophie Smith lying in his bed just now, he would probably have pounced on her without hesitation.
Thinking nothing further, she simply took off all her clothes.
"Please have some self-respect." Asher Land’s tone was already a bit impatient. What kind of madness was she up to tonight?
Irene’s soft body was about to approach Asher Land, but unexpectedly, with a slight exertion of force from his large hand, she was pushed to the ground.
Irene felt utterly humiliated, having stripped bare, yet the man in front of her showed zero interest. She just squatted there on the cold floor, not getting up. The room wasn’t heated, and in this kind of weather, her body couldn’t help but shiver.
With no expression on his face, Asher Land pulled her up from the ground, picked up a nearby towel to wrap around her body, and then dragged her out of the master bedroom.
The door was slammed shut, causing quite a commotion.
Several servants living in the side rooms heard the noise and came running out; they immediately saw Irene standing in front of Asher Land’s door.
The servants glanced at each other, understanding a bit of what had transpired.
It was so late at night, yet Irene was disheveled, having been kicked out of the master bedroom by Asher Land. With a bit of thought, it wasn’t hard to figure out what happened.
Irene’s face looked somewhat unpleasant, her steps seemed to be frozen in place, and she bit her lips hard; her eyes showed indescribable grievances and annoyance.
Tonight she had completely lost face, and the servants of the Land Family were all watching her joke.
"Miss Irene, you, what’s happened to you?" Hearing the noise, Nanny Garcia also came running over.
"Nanny Garcia, Brother Asher, Brother Asher doesn’t want me." Irene’s voice was very small, her head bowed, and it seemed like tears could fall at any moment.
"Miss Irene, why would you do such a foolish thing?" Nanny Garcia sighed deeply, "The young master only has Miss Smith in his heart now. By doing this, aren’t you just asking for trouble? If in the future, the young master has a grudge against you because of this, wouldn’t it be a loss that outweighs the gain?"
Nanny Garcia spoke with heartfelt concern.
Irene knew Nanny Garcia’s words were reasonable, yet she couldn’t bring herself to let go obediently. She had said she would compete with Sophie Smith, but from the current trend, it seemed she hadn’t even reached the starting line before losing the qualification to compete.
Nanny Garcia draped her coat over Irene’s shoulders, then assisted her in returning to her room.
Ultimately, Irene couldn’t hold back, and tears fell down; she lay on the bed, covered by the quilt, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Her mind seemed to recall those days in Europe with him; back then, he wasn’t so heartless, he would drive her to school and then pick her up on time after school.
She still remembered that he would buy whatever she wanted to eat without hesitation.
But now, his kindness was something she could never feel again.
Her small hand slid over her back, where there was a red mark; it was from taking two lashes for him. As time passed, the mark was slowly fading; yet, she wished it could stay on her forever. At least that way, she would have something to cherish about those past memories.
