Chapter 248 - 247: Vengeance Must Be Repaid (Part 1)
"Miss Smith, please leave." Robert Williams didn’t want to answer her question, only urging her to leave the basement, which made her feel more uneasy.
"What on earth is he doing that’s so unspeakable?" Sophie Smith frowned in displeasure. Asher Land always handled things swiftly and mercilessly. Who knows what kind of shady business he’s conducting by bringing people to the basement?
"I need to see him." Nanny Garcia, worried that someone might die, said, and it seemed her concern wasn’t unfounded, given the ear-piercing screams that testified to the inhuman torture happening inside.
"You can’t go." Robert Williams was rather helpless. If Sophie Smith barged in, Asher Land would no doubt blame him for not handling things properly.
"Don’t stop me." Sophie Smith walked straight ahead. She couldn’t stand this side of Asher Land. She hated how he treated others’ lives as worthless. Even if someone committed a heinous crime, they should be punished by the law, not in this manner.
Although Robert Williams was tall and strong, he didn’t dare to stop Sophie Smith forcibly, let alone act roughly towards her. He could only follow behind her.
"President Land, spare me! Please, let me go!" A somewhat bulky middle-aged man knelt at Asher Land’s feet, his clothes torn, his body a bloody mess with no intact skin. The scars were all left by a whip.
Besides him, there were two scantily-clad, disheveled women in the large ’cage’ as well.
Sophie Smith had just stepped into the room and upon seeing the scene before her, instinctively covered her mouth with her hand.
Asher Land turned towards the sound and saw that pale, frightened face.
He frowned and glanced at Robert Williams, who knew he hadn’t fulfilled his duty and lowered his head.
"How did you get in?" His voice was somewhat grim.
"Asher Land, what on earth are you doing?" Sophie Smith’s eyes scanned the miserable people in fear. They were almost unrecognizable, and she didn’t know how they had crossed paths with Asher Land.
"Take her out," he said to the men in black beside him.
Then, three men in black approached, attempting to forcefully drag her out.
"Let go of me!" Sophie Smith shook her hand, and the men in black didn’t dare to move recklessly, instead looking towards Asher Land for further instructions.
He noticed the determination in her eyes. He knew she wouldn’t leave.
The two faced off silently, when suddenly, a trembling woman nearby spoke up.
"Sophie, please, save us." The woman’s voice carried a slight tremor. It sounded familiar, but Sophie couldn’t immediately recall who this unrecognizable woman was.
"Sophie, don’t be heartless, please save me. I’m Jessica Wood!" The woman crawled at her feet, clutching her clothes tightly.
Jessica Wood?
How could she be here? And how did she end up like this?
She calmed down and finally saw these three people clearly.
Jessica Wood, Rose Sterling, and President Williams?
Weren’t these the people who had bullied her at that so-called celebrity party in S City last time?
She looked at Asher Land in astonishment. She roughly understood why he was torturing these people.
"Asher Land..." her voice suddenly weakened, "could you please let them go?"
"Let them go?" he sneered, "I always repay a grudge."
Who told these people to be so blind and mess with his woman?
