Chapter 2513 - 687: Return to Xuandu City, Getting Snubbed at Her Own Company (5)
Zhang Xue rolled her eyes, "Sorry, President Zhang is in a meeting right now! He can’t be disturbed!"
An Yiqing chuckled in anger. She glanced coldly at Zhang Xue, "Fine, I’ll wait until he finishes the meeting."
Saying this, under Zhang Xue’s contemptuous gaze, An Yiqing walked to the lobby’s lounge area, sat down, and took out a book to read.
Zhang Xue muttered ’putting on an act’ under her breath and ignored her. The lobby was still bustling, and no one paid attention to the scene.
Two hours quickly passed, and An Yiqing closed the book she had read more than halfway through and headed to the reception desk again.
"It’s eleven thirty at noon now, lunchtime. The meeting should be over, right? Miss, could you please notify President Zhang for me?"
Interrupted from reading her novel once again, Zhang Xue slammed her phone onto the desk and looked up at An Yiqing.
"President Zhang left through the employee-exclusive passageway. Come back in the afternoon!"
An Yiqing looked at the woman expressionlessly, without saying a word. Zhang Xue glanced at her, snorted coldly, stood up, and grabbed her phone, preparing to head to the cafeteria.
Just then, a voice came from behind her.
"Chairman?!" The speaker’s voice was cautious, mixed with a hint of uncertainty and excitement.
Zhang Xue froze, turned around, and saw that it was Vice President Hua Yun. She had heard of this woman, young yet very capable, with a keen eye for people. If someone caught her attention, a bright future awaited them.
Zhang Xue adjusted her expression, smiling as she greeted, "Hua—" President.
Before she could finish speaking, Hua Yun rushed past her, coming to an abrupt stop in front of the woman in white, excitedly grabbing her arm.
"Chairman! It really is you? You, you didn’t really die?! This is wonderful! Wonderful!" The usually composed Hua Yun lost her composure, holding An Yiqing as she cried out, drawing the attention of the lobby staff who were preparing to go to lunch.
"Chairman, people outside said you died. Brother Zhang didn’t believe it, nor did I. General Gu told us you were still alive, and Brother Zhang also said a few days ago you were okay. But I couldn’t believe it until I saw you with my own eyes. Chairman, I’m so glad you’re okay!"
An Yiqing smiled at Hua Yun. Almost four years had passed, and the cute girl she once knew had matured into a strong woman. Yet the admiration and passion in her eyes remained unchanged, which comforted An Yiqing deeply.
"I’m fine, stop crying. Everyone is watching you." She took a few tissues from the reception desk and wiped Hua Yun’s tears.
Hua Yun quickly took them, feeling reluctant to let her idol wipe her tears.
After wiping her tears and blowing her nose, Hua Yun finally regained her composure and her mind began to work again.
"Chairman, how long have you been here? Why didn’t you go upstairs?"
Zhang Xue, who was still in shock, turned pale white. This woman was the legendary Chairman! How could she be so young?!
Thinking of the words she said and the things she did earlier, Zhang Xue’s body began to sway, almost fainting.
An Yiqing gave her a brief look and told Hua Yun, "Someone said you all were in a meeting and asked me to wait here."
Hua Yun paused, glanced at the pale-faced Zhang Xue, and immediately understood. Apparently someone had poor judgment, mistaking a pearl for a fish eye.
Just then, the sound of footsteps emerged. Everyone in the lobby turned to look; in the executive-use elevator, several men and women dressed in elite suits walked out briskly. Everyone’s eyes grew excited; this was Xuanjin Yulong’s top-tier management, people they rarely ever got to see, let alone speak to.
These people walked out of the elevator and headed towards the lobby. The leading man looked up, was taken aback, and then ran over excitedly.
Everyone gasped; this was their most composed General Manager Zhang! What had gotten into him today?
Zhang Yusheng couldn’t care less about any of this; he hurriedly ran up to An Yiqing, his expression agitated, "Miss, when did you come back? Why didn’t you tell me? I could have come to pick you up!"
An Yiqing smiled at him, "I’m just a free spirit, no need to bother you. I arrived home this morning, and Grandpa and Grandma are back too."
"The Old Commander is back too? Wonderful!" Zhang Yusheng clapped his big hands together, "I’ll visit in a few days then. It’s been a while since I played chess with the old man; I’ve really missed it!"
The other few people had also rushed over, eagerly crowding around An Yiqing. Typically calm and dignified heavyweights now resembled a bunch of excitable youngsters, only keen on watching An Yiqing eagerly.
