Chapter 2514 - 687: Return to Xuandu City, Eating Humble Pie at Her Own Company (Part 6)

An Yiqing let her gaze sweep over these faces one by one—Xing Bin, Feng Yu, Jacob, and the others. These were all talents she had personally recruited back then, and over this past year they had remained steadfastly loyal to Xuanjin Yulong.

"I’m back. This past year, you’ve all worked hard."

Tears burst out at once. The always-strong Feng Yu was crying her eyes out, and Hua Yun, who had just been soothed, started crying again. The two women clung to each other and sobbed, giving An Yiqing quite a headache.

The staff in the lobby all looked at each other, staring at An Yiqing in shock. Among them were many employees hired in the last year and a half who had never seen this legendary chairwoman. Seeing her today, they were wildly excited.

With some effort, An Yiqing finally managed to calm Feng Yu and Hua Yun down. Wiping the sweat from her brow, she asked, "Where were you all headed?"

"To eat, of course!" Zhang Yuksheng said with a smile. "What a coincidence today. We almost never go to the cafeteria, but on a whim we decided to go once—and actually ran into you, Miss."

An Yiqing nodded. "Alright, I’ll go with you. Just as well, I can try our cafeteria’s food too."

Zhang Yuksheng and the others were secretly overjoyed, and the whole group headed grandly toward the cafeteria. The others, seeing there was no more drama to watch, dispersed. In the huge lobby, only Zhang Xue was left, her face deathly pale as she stood there, unable to calm down for a long time.

The staff cafeteria of Xuanjin Yulong was in a small building next to the headquarters tower, less than half a minute’s walk away. Led by Zhang Yuksheng, An Yiqing followed the group in and they strode into the cafeteria, casually picking a spot to sit down.

She sat on the chair, quietly observing the cafeteria environment. Four seats to a table, clean and tidy. There were twenty serving windows at the food line, with a wide variety of dishes. Judging from the chefs’ and staff’s uniforms, the hygiene looked pretty good too.

Before long, Zhang Yuksheng and the others came back carrying their trays.

"Miss, I picked a few dishes you like. The head chef here definitely isn’t as good as General Gu or the old madam, so please make do."

An Yiqing wasn’t fussy about such things. She picked up her chopsticks, took a bite of shredded pork in Beijing sauce, put it in her mouth to taste, and nodded.

"Not bad at all, it’s pretty good."

Zhang Yuksheng and the others all laughed, saying that if the head chef could get praise from An Yiqing, he could be considered fully qualified.

It was lunchtime, so the cafeteria was full of employees eating. When they saw Zhang Yuksheng and the others, they were startled at first. Then, hearing these big shots call the woman in white "Chairwoman," they were so shocked they practically forgot how to eat.

In just a short time, the news that Xuanjin Yulong’s mysterious chairwoman had returned spread like wildfire throughout the building. Many who usually didn’t eat lunch, or who had eaten outside, or brought their own food, dropped whatever they were doing and rushed to the cafeteria, just to catch a glimpse of their company’s legendary chairwoman.

Under the employees’ panda-at-the-zoo stares, An Yiqing finished her meal with great satisfaction.

Top floor of headquarters, chairwoman’s office. An Yiqing rarely came here, yet not a speck of dust could be seen on the desks and chairs. Zhang Yuksheng had people clean it every day without fail.

"Bring me the personnel change records for the past year and a half. I want to take a look." Sitting in the chair, An Yiqing spoke up.

Zhang Yuksheng froze for a moment, then nodded and made a phone call. Shortly after, the HR manager came in holding a file. Seeing An Yiqing, he paused, and something flashed in his eyes.

An Yiqing narrowed her eyes at him and tipped her chin. "Put the files down and go back."

The HR manager nodded, glanced at the documents, and left.

Staring at the HR manager’s retreating back, Zhang Yuksheng walked over to the door and closed it. Watching his movements, Hua Yun suddenly thought of that girl at the front desk in the lobby, and her eyes dimmed slightly.

"Miss, is there something wrong with the HR records?" Xing Bin, unable to figure it out, asked in confusion.

An Yiqing said nothing, her head lowered as she quickly flipped through the documents. Zhang Yuksheng tugged at Xing Bin, shook his head, and shot him a look.

Xing Bin was taken aback, glanced at him, then at Hua Yun, looking thoughtful.

The office was very quiet; only the sound of pages turning could be heard. After a long while, An Yiqing put the files on the desk and looked up at Zhang Yuksheng. "The financial statements."

Zhang Yuksheng immediately made another call, and the finance manager rushed in with the statements.

This time, An Yiqing did not dismiss him. She quickly went through the accounts and then set them on the desk.

"Do you know why I wanted to review the personnel changes of the past year and a half?" An Yiqing asked calmly.
