Book 9: Chapter 30: Mobile Crusaders
“Miss, will freeing our master’s true body… bring disaster to London?” Thinking about Integra’s earlier hesitant behavior, Seras asked thoughtfully.
“Yes, you should know that Alucard was once the Grand Duke of Wallachia and was granted the title of Count by the Holy Roman Empire at that time. He fought against the Turkish armies of the Ottoman Empire throughout his life. After becoming a vampire, he showed no distinction between friend and foe. He absorbed all the Wallachian and Turkish soldiers who died on the battlefield into his body, becoming the most powerful vampire in history.”
Integra lit a cigar, blew out a puff of smoke, and said solemnly, “After he was defeated by my ancestor, the vampire hunter Van Helsing, his true form was sealed by the hunters. Only the head of the HELLSING family from each generation could undo the seal.”
“After the seal is broken, the tens of thousands of enslaved souls inside Alucard turn into an Undead Army that obeys his commands. Although he can control the army to some extent, he can’t manage every detail. So, wherever the Undead Army passes, nothing will be left alive. It easily harms innocent people in that area.”
Integra’s eyes flickered as she said, “For this reason, during my grandfather’s time, the HELLSING organization made a pact with the superhuman organizations of the Western world. Unless absolutely necessary, the HELLSING organization must not free Alucard’s true form.”
“When London was attacked before, I wasn’t at the headquarters, so I couldn’t free Alucard. Now, the missile attacks from outside seem to have stopped. If Alucard isn’t in mortal danger, we can’t do that. It’s also not what that person would want.”
“Is that so!” The blonde girl’s eyes sparkled as she listened. This was the first time she had heard about her master’s past experiences. “Then… Miss, since our master’s true body has always been sealed, what is the one outside…”
“Hehe, that’s just a substitute formed by Alucard’s consciousness combined with some fallen souls. However, it was truly dangerous just now. If the substitute had been killed before the seal was broken, Alucard’s consciousness would have dissipated because it lost its host.”
As Integra spoke, she herself felt a bit frightened. Britain was still a major empire during World War II, but after the war, it declined at a pace the world couldn’t understand. From the former empire where the sun never set, it had now become a complete second-rate country.
