Chapter 4: Mating Night
Aurora was prepared for her first night with an Alpha she didn't know anything about. She hadn't even seen his face. If there was another word for unlucky, it would describe her perfectly. While she was being bathed, she noticed that her thighs were swollen and scratched. She wondered if the slavers had ever properly treated her wounds.
She sat nervously on a chair in a room that was supposed to be for the Alpha. Her heart raced as she waited for him to arrive. She was wearing a simple gown with nothing underneath, which made it easy for the Alpha to undress her.
She didn't want the maids to touch her anymore, so she couldn't tell them about her injured thigh. She regretted not speaking up earlier. The pain was bearable, but she wasn't sure if she could handle mating with the Alpha in her current condition.
What if he killed her for sleeping with him when she had wounded thighs? But it wasn't her fault. The woman who brought her in for him didn't check her properly. She clenched her hands in fear of what was to come. Should she tell the Alpha about her situation? Her mind was filled with so many thoughts that she could barely breathe.
He might think she was trying to avoid sleeping with him and decide to kill her. Either way, her plans wouldn't work. She hoped he wouldn't be rough when it came to mating with a woman. She had always protected her dignity.
She broke down when she thought of Lucas's words, "I didn't have sex with you because you wanted us to get married first, but you went behind my back to sleep around." Maybe she should have allowed Lucas have his way with her. At least it would have been more meaningful since they both wanted it, right?
She couldn't imagine mating with a stranger in a foreign land. Her heart skipped a beat when she heard the doorknob click open and someone enter the room.
She heard him approach and her heart started pounding. Her palms grew sweaty with anxiety. He stopped two steps away from her, and she felt his gaze on her, which made her even more nervous. 'Why isn't he speaking?' she thought.
"What are you doing?" His calm yet intimidating voice rang in her ears, reminding her of why she was there.
