My Favorite Game Followed Me!

Chapter 780

Chapter 780

Nene followed her soon-to-be parents-in-law to the inn where they were staying. She was a little relieved that Eva seemed to accept her, and both Devin’s father and mother seemed to like her. Marcus told her that Devin was only a year older than them. They were eighteen years old this year, so that meant that Devin was only nineteen.

She liked Devin. He was very handsome and a powerful adventurer at that. Their family’s two wolves seemed to be ridiculously strong if she could believe what Devin had told them about the two animals' capabilities. Devin told them that the wolves were summoned by a powerful Supreme Rank wizard. The incredible part was that the wizard was supposed to be the same age as Devin.

Nene could not imagine someone attaining that sort of power at just nineteen years of age, but Devin told them that there were unique circumstances that had happened to that wizard, which was why he became extremely powerful at such a short amount of time.

She was still extremely worried about her parents, and with Marcus joining Devin and the wolves, she was now doubly worried since her brother and soon-to-be husband were in danger as well.

Nene was aware of her beauty, and the only reason she was still not married was because of the situation that had happened in the town. If these were normal times, she knew she would have been married by now. Thankfully, her brother Marcus and her parents were strong, so no one bothered her. She knew that deep down, Nene was willing to sell herself to get away from this town, together with her family. The town was on the verge of destruction, and Nermador did not seem to care too much about it. She did not know if it was fortunate or unfortunate that no one was powerful enough to take them away from this town, who was willing to take her as a bride for the price of leaving.

While they were walking to where Devin’s parents were staying, Nene had decided it was fortunate she had remained single, since now she and her family might be able to leave with Devin and his parents.

‘Nene, don’t worry about your parents and your brother. Our wolves are unbelievably powerful. They had killed powerful monsters and undead while we journeyed from the desert kingdom to this town,” Devin’s mother comforted her, and she nodded her understanding.

When they reached the inn, which was the remaining active inn in the town, Devin’s parents invited her to the rooms they rented, which were the suite on the third floor. When they arrived there, Nene overheard Devin’s mother ordering food from the inn's staff, but she was too worried to think about anything and just sat by the window overlooking the street. She kept hoping to see her parents, Marcus, and Devin arriving soon.

Devin and Marcus, who were riding the two dire wolves, finally arrived at the field where her parents worked. They saw the barn in the distance. The wolves stopped, and Marcus saw the animals looking back at them. When Devin stepped down from the back of the wolf, Marcus followed. He understood that the wolves wanted them to remain at this place. Devin ran to one of the trees, and Marcus followed his soon-to-be brother-in-law.

Marcus was startled when he saw Devin climbing up the trees and realized that Devin wanted to see what was going to happen when the wolves attacked the ghouls that were trying to break into the barn where the farmers barricaded themselves.

Once Marcus settled beside Devin, and the wolves saw that the two were somewhat safe, they suddenly ran towards the barn. The night was bright due to the full moon above, so Devin and Marcus could see the situation. Marcus found it a little eerie how quiet the wolves were.

When the wolves reached the ghouls that were trying to destroy the barn doors, Marcus felt it in his bones when the two wolves slammed into the ghouls. He was amazed at how ferocious the wolves were. In no time at all, the six ghouls who were trying to destroy the barn door were decimated by Devin’s two wolves. After that, the wolves started hunting the remaining undead in the surrounding area.

Marcus and Devin suddenly saw a flying vampire arrived and Marcus got extremely worried. Devin kept telling him that the two wolves were powerful, but vampires were truly among the most powerful of the undead. Their strength, speed, and magical ability made them the elites of the undead.

Marcus then watched as the two wolves started battling the vampire. The fight that happened next was the stuff of nightmares. It was raw and vicious, and soon, he saw that the wolves prevailed. He actually did not see the minute details due to how fast the movement of the two wolves and the vampire was. He did see that the wolves were injured. He saw blue smoke coming out of the bodies of the wolves.

“The smoke from the wolves is their blood, which means that they’re injured. You don’t need to worry, though. Look,” Devin told Marcus.

Marcus saw the two wolves start eating the vampire. After that, they switched to eating the ghouls.

“The wizard who gave me our wolves said that the wolves were half mana construct. Which meant that they’re not actually animals and are a type of magic creation. They can use the bodies of the undead to heal themselves. Actually, they can use anything to heal themselves by eating almost anything. I’ve seen them eat plants to heal themselves,” Devin said proudly, and Marcus looked amazed.

“Whatever they eat, they remain scentless. I’ve observed that even after several days, they remained clean. My mother still bathes them, though, when we pass by a spring or a pool of water, which looked funny to me. The wolves are too obedient and just let her,” Devin said. Then, after that, he climbed down, and Marcus followed him.

Devin went towards the barn, and when they reached it, he told Marcu to call the people inside.

“Father?! Mother?! Are you there? You can all come out now. All the undead are gone,” Marcus shouted at the door.

“Marcus, is that you?” Marcus heard his father’s voice.

Suddenly, he heard whispering behind the door.

“Maybe it’s not your son, Arthur. Maybe it’s a powerful undead, like a vampire, imitating your son’s voice,” Marcus heard a man say to his father.

“If it’s a powerful vampire, it didn’t need to fool us. It could destroy the door easily,” Marcus’s father told the man.

“Lucas! It’s me, Marcus! An adventurer helped and killed all the undead here. Opened the door,” Marcus shouted again.

Devin was beginning to look annoyed, and Marcus knew that if the door remained closed, he might command the wolves to just tear it open. Soon, the door was unlocked, and it opened slightly. He saw his father’s head poking out, and when his father saw him, Arthur opened the door fully and ran toward Marcus, followed by Marcus’s mother. They both hugged him fiercely.

“Father, Mother, it’s alright. We’re safe. Nene is safe as well. She’s inside the town with Devin’s parents. This is Devin, the adventurer who helped us,” Marcus said after his parents let him go.

“Good evening, sir, ma’am. My name is Devin. I promised Nene that I’ll rescue you and then ask for her hand in marriage. My parents are here as well. I promised her that we’ll bring all of you with us when we leave for Remnok tomorrow. You don’t need to worry about the journey. We will be guarded by two of the most powerful wolves. They were given to us by a Supreme Rank Wizard,” Devin told Marcus’s parents, who stared at him after they heard what he said.

Marcus’s parents and the other farmers shifted their attention to the two dire wolves that were resting nearby when Devin pointed at the wolves.
