Chapter 322
"Leave him to me. Stay here and protect the queen. There will be consequences if you let something happen to her while I am away," Lilith warned the demons standing outside the door.
She looked down the hall at Fraser running for his life, freezing up each time he came face to face with a demon.
Lilith placed her hands behind her back and started to skip after him. This was some of the most fun she had in years so she wanted it to last a bit longer. She had a feeling he was either running to the gates or the temple.
She hoped it wasn’t the latter since she was never fond of churches or temples before she was a demon. Sitting inside one always made her think of the bad things she had done to survive and the priests inside were always judging her though they were the same ones who turned her away before she turned to killing others to survive.
"Slow down!" Lilith called out to Fraser. "You might trip and you don’t want me to carry you into the underworld while you’re bleeding. The hellhounds will get a whiff of you and forever hunt you."
Fraser looked behind him at Lilith skipping behind him with a big smile on her face. There was still a good distance between the two of them for him not to be caught by her and he was so close to the temple. He would soon be safe in the temple where no one could reach him. Not even a human because he planned to barricade the doors.
Fraser looked in front of him, running the familiar path to the temple he rarely visited in the past. There was nothing he ever had to pray for or come to the temple to see. He had no reason to rely on Gods when so much was at his fingertips. The only person he looked to for whatever he needed was his uncle.
It was pointless in the past to waste time praying to Gods who never listened, but now he ran to the temple for shelter.
"Shit," Fraser cursed, changing direction when he stumbled upon a demon. He expected them to chase after him, but he heard the woman following him say words he could not understand, and then there was only one set of footsteps heard behind him.
