The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 82

"Murder? Things here keep getting better and better. Care to enlighten me about this murder?" Killian asked. From all the information he received about the Blackwells over the years, he never heard mention of the queen being murdered. It was said that Anne died from a sickness.

"I am certain my mother was killed and my father knew the person behind it or it was him. Looking back on my mother’s last few weeks before she died, she behaved as if she was anticipating something. She kept informing me of people I should turn to for help and places around the kingdom I should visit if I ever wanted to get away from my father. I believe that is when she started to place her things in my name like the funds for the orphanages," Amelia explained.

If only she had paid more attention back then, she might have been able to prevent her mother’s death. How exactly did her mother know something was going to happen that she started preparing Amelia for the future without her? Who made her mother feel that her life was on the line?

"I had been with my mother daily and not once did she appear sick before me until the final week when it was said she suddenly fell ill and no one but my father was allowed to see her. Then they declared she had passed away. At first, I thought my mother was killed for a new queen to be placed on the throne but two years have passed by but my father has not married. If this is true, what do you think was the reason behind her death?" Amelia asked Killian for his opinion.

Certainly, something like this wouldn’t be new to him.

"If it wasn’t your father who killed her in order to have a new queen, she could have found out something she wasn’t supposed to know and someone silenced her. Maybe one of your father’s women was jealous and somehow poisoned her if she suddenly fell sick. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if the court ministers were involved. To kill a queen, that person must have a lot of influence in the castle," Killian replied.

It was unfortunate a lot of time had passed so any evidence the queen was murdered was long covered up. It would take everyone involved to start turning on each other and exposing what happened.

"Solving the circumstances around her death was one thing I always wanted to accomplish but I must put it to rest. This kingdom cannot handle the news that their precious queen was murdered right now and the longer I wait, the less I can prove she was murdered. I can only hope those involved suffer for the rest of their lives and even in death. Sorry, this conversation took a turn," she apologized for talking about death at a time like this.

"Don’t apologize. I am enjoying this conversation. As satisfying as it may be, you don’t need to get revenge on your enemies while they are still alive. I can see them after they’ve passed and tortured them for you. Just give me the list of names. Tell you what," he pulled her closer to tell her a secret. "If you find me a really good gift, I will bring your father to you."
