Chapter 1442: People Only Cherish What They Lose
Finn Morgan didn’t say anything further. He simply glanced calmly at everyone, then greeted Justin Kingston, "CEO Kingston, I’ll head to the company now."
"That investment project from yesterday requires my signature. Once you’ve reviewed it, you can sign on my behalf," Justin Kingston trusted him immensely. "The private seal is in the safe."
"Okay." Finn nodded, turned around, and left. He was very capable and had never disappointed Justin Kingston.
Jocelyn’s accident had hit him hard, and the sadness and pain within were indescribable, but he had to stay strong.
He was going to become a father, and his beloved wife was waiting for him at home; he couldn’t afford to be emotional.
Upon entering the villa, Aunt Zhou greeted everyone warmly and said kindly, "Madam, Dr. Shelby’s room is arranged on the second floor, and it’s ready."
"Alright, thanks for your hard work," Mia Lane turned to Ian Shelby, "Go upstairs to rest first. If you need anything, just let Aunt Zhou know, okay?"
Ian didn’t speak; he just nodded and then walked upstairs.
The pain was heart-wrenching and deeply ingrained.
Aunt Zhou noticed that everyone seemed out of sorts, especially Dr. Shelby. Did he have stubble now? His once handsome and dashing appearance looked quite haggard.
What on earth happened?
Aunt Zhou was worried but didn’t dare to ask. She just carefully attended to Dr. Shelby, escorted him upstairs, and took him to his room.
In the spacious, understated, luxurious living room, Mia Lane specifically instructed the other housekeepers at home, "Make sure to keep this pink box well, and no one is allowed to touch anything inside until Dr. Shelby needs it."
"Alright, Madam." A housekeeper took the box away.
On the second floor, Ian Shelby, upon entering the room, didn’t lie down to rest. He sat down on the sofa, with his elbows resting on his knees, holding his forehead with his hands, his mood still heavy.
He couldn’t rid himself of the guilt and sadness, and the affairs at the hospital were of no concern to him.
In his heart, he deeply loathed that vile woman, Vera Ford!
If only he had known, he would have dealt with her when he had the chance!
Aunt Zhou peeked inside from the door, then cautiously closed it, wondering what serious thing had happened here.
After Aunt Zhou came downstairs, Justin Kingston had already gone to the company, and the car in the courtyard was gone.
Only Mia Lane was in the living room. She said to Aunt Zhou, "Dr. Shelby took Miss Morgan to the old town to play, and Miss Morgan had an accident. Someone pushed her into the river, and she’s still missing."
Those words made Aunt Zhou’s chest tighten suddenly, and she widened her eyes in disbelief!!
Is there still someone in a law-abiding society who dares to push someone into a river?
"So you need to pay more attention to his condition recently and have the nutritionist prepare a menu for him. He can’t afford to collapse."
"I understand, Madam."
"Good, you may go about your work."
"Yes."
Upstairs in the room, Ian Shelby was scrolling through Jocelyn Morgan’s novel on his phone, reaching the last Chapter, which was updated two days ago...
She hadn’t updated for two days; the comment section was full of people urging for updates. The book’s data was excellent.
There were also some agitated authors cursing, saying she lacked professional ethics as an author, unable to meet the basic requirement of daily updates, telling her to get out of the writing industry.
Seeing these negative comments, Ian’s heart ached.
He lingered in the comment section for half an hour and then couldn’t help but read her writings again... So frank and passionate, her longing and yearning for love made Ian feel even more guilty.
When they were together, he was always so busy and never had the chance to accompany her properly... Instead, she spent more time at the hospital.
If she could return safely, back to his arms, Ian would definitely push work aside a little and place Jocelyn in a very important position.
People are always so foolish, only realizing what they cherish after losing it.
