Chapter 446: Brother and Sister
When they were sitting around a campfire that night, Jonas couldn't help but think about how blot had said that he was Kim's sister.
While he understood the concept of what Blot had explained, he couldn't quite accept it just yet. Not when he had other concerns about it as well.
Sonya had reached the foothills, or what Elwin termed the foothills, and found a place for them to camp for the night. Which Jonas knew would give him time to sort some of these details out as he took first watch.
The night wore on and the others went to sleep one by one, eventually leaving Jonas the only one awake that he could see. Sonya was along the edge of the camp, in the wolf form she'd changed into after landing.
Elmo was sleeping right next to him, though Jonas wasn't sure if he should do anything in regards to that. He'd hardly had any real experience in relationships, even though he wasn't really sure if he wanted this one to work out or not.
On his thoughts about his and Kim's situation, he remembered once reading the Mode series by Piers Anthony. Which was about how individuals could cross between worlds, though Jonas doubted such a means actually existed. Though, in the first book, it was mentioned about how one of the main characters had encountered someone he knew.
He was determined to help her, but learned that she wasn't quite the same person he knew. That she was from a world a few degrees off, or so, from his. While it was possible that Jonas and Kim were from the same world, he couldn't say that the situation in the book wasn't the case for him.
He'd long forgotten about the book, as he'd read it before he'd gotten swallowed by the underworld assuming he had in fact gotten pulled into another world and not just metaphorically, and only remembered it when he was thinking about how he and Kim were brother and sister. If there wasn't another possibility then he'd accept it, but he hadn't yet been able to get his hands on the other book they'd gotten from the library.
He hoped that book might hold some information that would help him figure out the situation he was in. Although, he wondered if maybe something about the situation with him and Kim was why she'd been willing to trust him at the start of this competition when she seemed to generally distrust all men otherwise.
If there was another explanation, he would welcome hearing it. As at the moment, he was deadlocked with his theories given he had no way to verify any of them or otherwise rule them out. Not with what he did know about the fact that it was possible to travel between worlds and the fact that he hardly knew much more than that.
"Can't sleep?" Kim asked, startling Jonas.
