Chapter 65: What did you bring
Everywhere was silent. It wasn’t just shock; it was absolutely stunned silence that stemmed from witnessing something impossible. Riven wasn’t supposed to win. It should have been a total joke where Jasper taught Riven a lesson.
It should have been too simple. After all, Riven was from the Village, and Jasper? He’s a bright star from the Green Clouds Sect that even the rank three were wary of.
He was someone that was actually strong, the top of all rank two.
And he was beaten by Riven. Not only beaten, his face was smashed in and he was sent out of the platform, passing out from one punch.
Tong’s eyes flashed with small lightning as he gazed at Riven. He took a step forward before he stopped. He was thinking the same thing as all the other instructors were thinking. "The boy. Why isn’t he tired? He’s not even breaking a sweat. He’s looking as if he could fight Jasper at his peak state again."
That day, a new legend was born that spread through all the five mountains of the Green Clouds Sect. An uneducated barbarian that ate leaves and insects and wore dirty clothes without shoes had climbed the mountains of the low practitioners and then challenged everyone until he won.
He was called the barbaric devil.
Later, much later, after there was a subtle transfer of ’fans’ from the unconscious Jasper to Riven, Kivara escorted him to her master’s residence that was built apart from all the other halls.
On the way over, Riven asked her why she set him up like that. She shrugged and looked at the sky suddenly, quietly. It took a while before she said anything. "This is a shit shabby sect. If you can’t even beat the one who’s at the top yet, then you should forget about doing anything spectacular with your life."
She didn’t speak with hate or anger; she said it as if it was something that was expected. It made Riven curious. "Then why are you here? If you think this place is like a cage, then why are you here?"
