The Eden Lake District lay north of Liuguang City, a fair distance from the Freight District. It felt like the back garden of the Acropolis District.
Elizabeth had grown up here. She had always thought of this district as her home, but she hadn't been back in a very long time.
Last night, she bought medicinal wine at the Shuhui Street Fish Pond. This morning, she took a few members of her team in a commercial van into this scenic wonderland to compete in a golf tournament—specifically, for the three million championship prize.
Judy, Ayako, and Xiaomei were all setting foot in the Eden Lake District for the first time.
In this city, ordinary people could stroll through the Garden District and the Central District. Sneaking up to the peaks of the Acropolis District to take in the night view wasn't unusual, either. But the Eden Lake District was always heavily guarded. Without a pass, getting close was impossible.
On the drive in, Judy stared out the window at scenery entirely different from the streets and the Wasteland.
She had spent so long in the Wasteland, but she had never seen such dense, lush vegetation. Even with winter approaching, this place seemed completely unaffected. The ecological forest remained a vast sea of verdant green.
Ayako, who had grown up in the Fist District, had only ever seen smog, crude brutality, weapons, and fists. Right now, she just stared in a daze.
She had always thought the Garden District was nice enough. Her greatest wish had been to earn a home there through her own hard work.
