Transferred to Another World and Became a Teacher

Ch. 149 - Cultural Festival Latter Half 9 - Students’ Presentations 2 [Different Perspective]

[Tis]

The venue fell silent with astonishment. And, when everyone had activated the lightning magic, cheers of surprise and excitement finally started to be heard.

That quiet Dean, he was demonstrating magic so confidently at the centre of the venue. Moreover, it was amazing magic that surprised everyone.

Just seeing that figure, tears started to well up even though I was in public.

"Dean..."

I clenched my fist and called out my child's name, even though he couldn't possibly hear me. Boosting the Stone family, or selling my face and name in the factions among nobles, none of it mattered anymore.

My child, Dean, was demonstrating his magic so confidently, receiving the applause of the people. That was more proud and joyful than anything else.

I noticed the tears wetting my cheeks, but I forgot to wipe them away and continued to watch my son's presentation.

At that time, Dean was the only one who stopped his magic. What happened? Did some kind of problem occur?

I suddenly became anxious, and my bad habit was about to emerge.

While feeling anxious, I watched Dean's figure as if praying.

Then, as if encouraging me, Dean took a light, deep breath with a calm expression, and started chanting again. Was he going to show me magic again?

Thinking that and watching, I realized that the chanting was longer than before. During that time, the other students also stopped their magic, and soon the venue had returned to its original appearance.

What was going to happen next? I felt that everyone was wondering that, focusing their eyes on Dean's figure.

As the venue was enveloped in silence, Dean's chanting came to an end.

"... Lightning Flash, Lightning!"

Dean pointed his right arm towards the sky while shouting the name of the magic. Immediately after, a small water sphere about the size of a fist appeared, and it grew rapidly, starting to flicker intensely.

Then, the water sphere became dark for a moment, and in the next instant, released an intense band of light toward the sky. A low sound that seemed to resonate in my stomach and a shocking sound as if something was exploding rang out at the same time, and lightning ran across the sky. My hands and feet tingled; it was probably because I had received a small amount of lightning to my body.

When I looked around, many people had collapsed onto the ground. There were many people standing, but they were all staring blankly at the sky.

For several seconds, the venue remained silent, as if savouring the afterglow of the magic. But, then, one or two people turned their gazes back to Dean and the others, and a loud round of applause began. It showed the success of the students' presentations, and at the same time, it was like a bell announcing a major turning point for Dean.

With my tears still overflowing, I was sending applause so strong that my hands hurt.

"…That was nerve-wracking."

"Yeah. But, it was fun."

"Ah! Don't touch me now! You'll definitely get a shock!"

Ayle and the others came to the back of the venue while making a commotion. Cote should still be giving the final greeting, but those children were free-spirited.

"Good job, everyone. It was a very good presentation."

When I said that, the three turned to look at me.

"Aoi-sensei!"

"Right? We did our best! Right?"

"Kyaa!? I told you not to touch me!?"

Ayle, Liz, and Bell were making a lot of noise. I gave a wry smile at the always energetic three and then offered words of praise to Shenley, who came out next.

"Good job. You did your best."

When I said that, Shenley smiled shyly and nodded.

"Yes. My father wasn't visible, but he must have been watching from somewhere, right?"

I chuckled at Shenley, who muttered that with a slightly anxious look. After all, Shenley’s father, Aldo, had been in position at the edge of the venue from the beginning. Since many people had gathered before Shenley and her family showed their faces at the venue, he had probably been pushed further to the edge. But, I believe he properly watched Shenley’s moment of glory.

"It's okay. Aldo-san was at the venue."

When I said that and smiled, Shenley nodded in relief.

And, then Dean quietly returned from the venue. It was a little funny that he had returned to his usual quiet atmosphere from his confident attitude earlier.

"Good job. Tis-san was very moved."

"Eh? Really? U-um...I was too focused on the magic, so I couldn't see people's faces..."

"Please talk to her later. I'm sure she'll be happy."

I smiled at Dean, who was bewildered, and then, finally, Cote and Rox returned.

"Good job, everyone. You were both very composed and cool."

When I told that to the two, Cote waved a hand while smiling refreshingly, and Rox snorted in a sulky manner and turned his face away. I wondered if they would show their rivalry even in a place like this. The two showed contrasting reactions. I felt something heartwarming while looking at them, and I turned to face everyone.

"Everyone, it was a wonderful presentation. Just between us, I personally think it was the best presentation out of everyone at this cultural festival. Next year, let's show even more amazing magic and surprise the guests, okay?"

When I told them that while showing a mischievous glint, everyone burst out laughing.

"Fufu, I didn't think Aoi-sensei would say something like that."

"Everyone was really surprised, right!"

"…It, it was fun, right."

When Dean gave that kind of impression at the end, for some reason everyone’s gazes gathered on Dean.

"Eh? W-what...?"

Everyone laughed out loud at Dean's flustered figure. Ayle patted Dean's back, who was bewildered, and opened his mouth.

"Well, you were the one who unleashed the flashiest magic, after all! That felt good, right?"

"Eh? Eh? U-um..."

While laughing, Ayle teased him, and Dean laughed shyly. While I was feeling warm at that scene, Rox folded his arms and frowned.

"...I'll be able to use the same magic as Dean soon. Remember that."

Leaving behind words like a villain, Rox turned his back with his shoulders raised in anger. Dean, with his eyes wide open, watched Rox's back as he walked away.

"...D-did I perhaps anger him..."

Cote shook his head from side to side while giving a wry smile at Dean who turned around looking like he was about to cry.

"That's not the case. He's just frustrated. Don't worry about it, I think it'd be good to make the difference bigger next year."

And then, Cote smiled cheerfully. However, he immediately narrowed his eyes and shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, I don't intend to lose to anyone either?"

Saying that, Cote smiled fearlessly. He really was a refreshing man. Dean looked at Cote and nodded shallowly.

"...I-I don't plan to lose either."

When Dean said that, everyone widened their eyes in surprise for a moment. That Dean, who always seemed so unsure of himself, had said he wouldn't lose.

Perhaps, having mastered the lightning magic more than anyone among the students led to a great confidence. I felt an overwhelming urge to pat Dean’s head.

But, since there was Shenley’s fluffy head nearby, I ended up patting that one instead.
